1976 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow on 2040-cars
Gladwyne, Pennsylvania, United States
This auction is for a 1976 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow I. The car is finished in two-tone paint and has a tan leather interior with dark brown piping. The car starts easily, runs well and rides as a Rolls-Royce should. The car comes with a complete maintenance history from 2004 through 2012 and has been owned since 1985. The car has always been garaged and has a clear Pennsylvania title. Rolls Royce spent 11 years perfecting the design of the Silver Shadow. First launched in 1965, the Silver Shadow included many new features and luxury enhancements. The transmission, seats, windows, aerial, and climate control were now electrically operated and the suspension was self-leveling. The Silver Shadow was also the first Rolls Royce to feature monocoque construction. Having rolled over this example bears and odometer
reading of 3,278 miles meaning the car has traveled 103,278 miles. The car is taken out for short exercise rides weekly. This
Silver Shadow is a driver quality car and is not without some flaws. The
interior wood finish is what one would expect of a car of this age, however
there are a few spots - most notably the driver’s side door that needs
refinishing. The power windows operate slowly and the driver’s side window has
stalled short of closing in the past. There is a small tear in the driver side
door upholstery; a small burn on the right rear side (not on the seat surface
itself) of the seat (closest to the door) and a small burn on the right side interior
door armrest panel by the ashtray. The body has some small scratches, a tiny dent on the
front passenger door and two deeper scratches (one on driver’s side rear and
one on the rear). The car has a battery tender installed to keep the battery
fresh. |

Rolls-Royce rings up best-ever sales year
Sat, 12 Jan 2013The wheeled monolith above is the 2013 Rolls-Royce Phantom Extended Wheelbase - a rolling demonstration of the real definition of "More." For that reason we can use it as a symbol of the firm's sales, which have not only achieved 'more' for the past three years but have also broken company records. Adding to its record-setting years in 2010 and 2011, the Goodwood-based carmaker moved 3,575 units, an increase of 38 over the year before.
The US retook its crown as the greatest consumers of Rolls-Royces, snagging it back from China. Other market movers were the Middle East, where sales rose 26 percent, Mainland Europe - the same place where mass-market makers are drowning in woe and inventory - that rose by 21 percent, and the Asia Pacific region and its 18-percent rise. Rolls-Royce is probably making more money on its cars, too, with bespoke uptake reaching 95 percent on the 10-year-old Phantom line and 73 percent for the Ghost line.
With a just-refreshed lineup and one or perhaps two more models coming, the indicators for more upward sales movement are strong, even if we don't know how soon the new models will arrive. For 2012, the brand that sells more cars above $200,000 than any other proved the saying that storms can't affect you when you live above the clouds. The press release below has more to say about the record year.
Rolls-Royce Wraith revealed, ready to battle Bentley
Mon, 04 Mar 2013Bentley may have rounded out the redesign of its Continental line of cars with the new Flying Spur four-door's debut at this week's Geneva Motor Show, but Rolls-Royce has shown up in Switzerland with the Wraith, a GT coupe version of the Ghost sedan that moves the brand one step closer to having an answer for everything that wears a Flying B.
The Wraith's natural combatant would be Bentley's Continental GT Coupe, though as all Rollers come in orders of magnitude more expensive than their already costly competitors from Crewe, the new coupe's €245,000 initial starting price will be $100k USD more than the base price of the most expensive Continental, a GT Speed coupe.
What your CEO bonus money will get you is a 624-bhp V12 engine cranking out 590 pound-feet of torque. The sprint to 60 miles per hour will pass by in 4.4 seconds, with a unique 8-speed ZF automatic transmission snapping off shifts using a new Satellite Aided Transmission technology that works with GPS to pre-select the right gear for not only the road you're on, but the road you'll be coming up on ahead.
Rolls-Royce celebrates Maharajas with special Phantom DHC
Fri, 14 Nov 2014A century ago, the princes and maharajas of India shared a relationship with Rolls-Royce that spanned five decades and saw the nobility on the subcontinent commissioning over 840 unique vehicles from the stoic marque. It's that golden age that Rolls-Royce celebrates with the debut of this one-of-a-kind luxury cabriolet.
Based on the Phantom Drophead Coupe, this unique Maharaja edition is distinguished by such special touches as Carrara White paint embellished with a peacock motif, emerald green coachline, a deep green top (hood in UK terminology), light creme leather interior with green accents, marquetry inlays and custom seashell embroidery.
Said to be two years in the making by the Rolls-Royce Bespoke division, this one-off Phantom DHC was unveiled not in India, but in Dubai, where a fascination with the Golden Age of the Raja is evidently alive and well.
