1977 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow No Reserve auction!!!!! This car is complete and appears to be pretty solid. It would make a good rebuilder, parts car, or I was actually thinking about making it a hot rod. It shows 42,690 on the odometer. I do not know if that is correct, but I do know that it was owned long term by a lady in our small town--so it may be. I do not know anything about the mechanicals on it other than it was being driven when parked. Interior is somewhat rough, but not absolutely destroyed. Tires are good, engine has antifreeze in it and the oil looks primo. It appears to have been maintained. Right Hand Drive Most rust on the car is surface only, although there is some rust over the rear wheel wells and a bit in the trunk floor around the battery. This Car was running and driving when parked in 1998. It has not moved since then until I pulled it out of a barn a few months ago. It will need a lot of work to be driving again, but I would bet that it will run. The wiring is a mess as it has had mice chewing on it apparently. The car is located in Athens, Texas. Rolls-Royce developing new convertible
Wed, 06 Aug 2014Rolls-Royce is not a company that makes a lot of different vehicles, but of the ones it does, it tends to offer several versions. That's how we end up with sedan, long-wheelbase, coupe and (in the former's case) convertible versions of the Phantom and Ghost. And now Goodwood has confirmed development of another model.
Although details in the press release below are few and far between, it does promise to "deliver effortless, open-top touring... with an engaging and exhilarating driving experience." CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös added: "We are currently developing an exciting and thoroughly contemporary interpretation of a pinnacle drophead tourer which will introduce even more discerning men and women to Rolls-Royce ownership."
What that tells us is that the new model - set to reach showrooms "by mid-2016" - will be a convertible that's exciting to drive and more youthful than the Phantom Drophead Coupe. In other words, and in all likelihood, we're looking at the convertible version of the Ghost-based Wraith fastback (like the one we recently spotted undergoing testing, pictured above). Expect it, then, to carry the same 6.6-liter twin-turbo V12, but with the added rush of wind in your hair.

Bigger isn't always better, especially when it comes to selling super luxury. Rolls-Royce CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös expects the British automaker to again post a record year, despite the economic troubles in Europe and weak growth in both the US and China.
"It is not all doom and gloom out there," Müller-Ötvös explains, noting that the declining sales in Europe and elsewhere have been offset by good performance for the marque in the Middle East, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong and Russia.

Sure, it's god 624 horsepower channeled to the rear wheels, but it's an automatic, it costs the better part of $300,000 and it's laden with more leather, wood and carpeting than Harrod's. Leave it to Tax the Rich to toss it around then.
For those unfamiliar, the YouTube channel sporadically features videos of some of the most powerful and expensive pieces of automotive machinery being put up to no good. They've done the Ferrari 288 GTO, F50 (two of 'em, in fact) and Enzo and even the Jaguar XJ220 - twice - but now they've turned their attention to the most powerful Rolls ever, tossing it around the grounds of an old-world mansion estate like it was a Subie.
