This amazing Rolls Royce was purchased new from Bentley & Rolls Royce of Beverly Hills by world renowned Otto Heino.   Otto cherished this car and owned it for over twenty years while residing in Ojai, CA.   I am the third owner.   I have owned various Rolls and have been very pleased with this car.

Otto is an internationally acclaimed potter, one of the few potters who can keep a refined shape in a large vessel.   An eye for form and skill of throwing aside, Otto's potting required great strength.  He was able to throw 100 pounds of clay at once !

He received many of the highest distinctions and awards.   His works have been exhibited at the Picasso Museum in France, SF De Young Museum, LACM, NY American Craft Museum, Smithsonian, Boston Museum of Fine Arts amongst others.   He called himself the oldest and richest potter in the world.      If you like art, worth taking a look at his works..

Back to the car which is why you are here.   I just wanted the new owner to recognize and hopefully appreciate the history a bit, as I have.   Now back to the car.

It is a great example of a car that has been driven locally, maintained and enjoyed in it's original state.    The paint is original and best to convey the two tone is like a champagne/soft gold over a dk brown/black.. which changes in the light, day and night.    The interior is in great condition with newly recovered backings of the extra plush rear floor mats and foot rests.   I have restored the back shelf panel and the leather dash, yet rest is very nice.    Wood is very nice w/ some typical spots of fine line stresslines in few areas.

While Otto resided in Ojai he still often serviced the car in Beverly Hills and I still have a few records from him.   In 1999 he had the radiator recored and got a new thermostat installed, also replaced the gas springs.   Back in 2005 Otto had new fuel pump, new injectors and wiring installed.

In 2009 new owner had the car serviced and had fuel distributor rebuilt, replaced spark plugs, new fuel accumulator and retrofitted A/C for R134 charge.

In 2010 all new tires put on at 47,226 miles.

In 2012 the car was serviced at Jim Rickman Motors (very well known in Pasadena) -    In 2013 I have too serviced the car at my local shop and have replaced battery as well.

Please enjoy the pictures and best of luck with the beautiful Rolls.

2014 Rolls-Royce Wraith is everything you need, everything you don't [w/videos]

Wed, 06 Mar 2013

It's not often that we get to talk about a new Rolls-Royce, what with the fact that the company's current model line is basically made up of two vehicles. But that all changes here at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, with the introduction of what might be the most emotional Roller of modern times, the Wraith.
The new two-door Rolls is effectively a Ghost coupe, and it stands to reason that this is Royce's answer to the Bentley Continental GT, albeit at a higher price point. Much higher, actually - the 245,000-euro - $320k USD - price of entry for the Wraith is about $100,000 more than a Continental GT Speed coupe. Woof. And to our eyes, all that extra money isn't buying you much in the looks department, as the collective opinion of the Autoblog editors on-site in Geneva is that it's more imposing than elegant.
But the Wraith will no doubt be a special, exclusive, impressive machine for anyone who plunks down that sort of cash. For starters, it's powered by a V12 that puts out an impressive 624 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque mated to an eight-speed ZF "Satellite Aided" transmission. This nifty cog-swapper actually works with GPS to not only pre-select the right gear for the portion of road you're on, but for the next portion of you'll be driving on, as well. That, friends, is cool.

Car companies used to cook up sales with recipe books

Fri, 08 Aug 2014

The evolution of automotive marketing has undergone a number of strange phases. Few, though, match the strangeness of the 1930s to 1950s, when automotive marketers turned to cookbooks as a means of promoting their vehicles. Yes, cookbooks. We can't make this stuff up, folks.
This bizarre trend led to General Motors distributing cookbooks under the guise of its then-subsidiary Frigidaire. Ford, meanwhile, offered a compilation of recipes from Ford Credit Employees (shown above). The cookbook-craze wasn't limited to domestic manufacturers, though. As The Detroit News discovered, both Rolls-Royce and Volkswagen got in on the trend, although not until the 1970s.
The News has the full story on this strange bit of marketing. Head over and take a look.

Is your brain predisposed to make you love Rolls-Royce?

Wed, 19 Jun 2013

XCAR has taken a look at what could very well be one of the most quintessential British cars ever built: the 1973 Rolls-Royce Corniche. The question at hand is whether or not expensive luxury items like artisan foods, designer clothing and yes, high-end automobiles are worth their monetary cost. Do they bring some undefined additional value to the table over their low-buck counterparts, or are they simply an excellent way to part a fool from his dollar bills? While the video below can't comment on four-course meals or $400 jeans, our valiant host does have a word or two on the joy a Rolls-Royce can bring to your life.
That's even true of a model like the '73 Corniche. Built during one of the darker days of the company's history, the convertible was designed and manufactured by an automaker on the verge of collapse. Still, it manages to hold on to that essential spirit of luxury so crucial to the Rolls-Royce brand. Check out the video below to see what we mean.
