SAAB lovers, this car is for you!!! My CLASSIC convertible has been well taken care and garaged during the 10 year period I have had it. I will sell the car for $6000. (I paid $15,000 for it with 42,000 miles on it. During the 10 years I have had it I only put 11,000 miles on it. It is now showing a little more than 53,000 miles on the odometer.) Now asking $6000. It runs smooth, and powerful, and since I am a non-smoker there are no smoking smells inside. It's built solid and an original Swedish design. The turbo mechanism spools up nicely and feels like a jet when you speed up. This vehiclenshould last for many more years to come.
I bought this SAAB locally in 2003 as a "certified pre-owned" vehicle when it had a little more than 42,000 miles on it. Hardly used it over the last 10 years.. and now with a little more than 53,000 miles ... never in any accident, a few scratches on the exterior, otherwise paint is real good, no rust... super solid, been garaged with weekly driveabouts around town...
SAAB affectionados will understand this. Sadly, the SAAB company has been sold off and presently not operating. Amazingly, they sure built great cars and this vehicle is one of them, so I am not sure why this event happened.
However, in all honesty SAAB vehicles, including this one historically have had several "nagging" issues - mostly computer display issues. For instance, I get a message saying to check the "soft cover".. I have checked it many, many, many times but there seems to be nothing wrong it and convertible top is in good condition and operates OK. I also get a display light that comes on to check the engine. I and mechanics have checked it but the issues are seemingly minor which I will share with you. Computer information pixels showing time,mileage, etc simply disappear from view. If you "Google" these problems, these seem to be universal and explained ....

Petrolicious keeps our love of the Saab Sonett aflame
Wed, 19 Mar 2014German auto designs lean toward function and purpose. Italian designers deliver passion and beauty. The Brits, majesty. American cars, brashness and authority. If you want a funky design, though, you go to Sweden. The land of cheap, do-it-yourself furniture and delicious meatballs knows a thing or six about style and design, and while that character is only now reemerging thanks to a certain string of Volvo concepts, it use to be that Saab was the authority on penning some of the industry's more unique designs.
Take the beautiful Sonett for example - a small coupe whose appearance is a funky mishmash of a Porsche 911 and a Bugeyed Sprite with just a hint of a Citroën DS (it's that convex rear window). It's a positively striking car, made more unique by its two-stroke, three-cylinder powertrain and four-on-the-tree manual transmission. With just 70 horsepower hauling about 1,500 pounds of Swedish style, the Sonett strikes us as an ideal alternative to some of the English sports cars of its day, particularly for those that are looking for something beyond your average MG or Triumph.
For Glenn Roberts, the Sonett was a part of his childhood. His family owned example was originally a special-order item by his parents in 1967. He bought the car from them 13 years later and has never looked back, completing a restoration in 2004. With a story like that, it's not surprising that Roberts and his silver Sonett are the most recent pairing to get some attention from Petrolicious.
NEVS completes Saab purchase, earns right to brand name but not griffin badge

According to the Associated Press, a Hong Kong-based concern is close to building new Saab models. After some delays, National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS) has completed the purchase of bankrupt Swedish automaker Saab.
NEVS says it plans to debut an electric vehicle in about 18 months. When the car comes to market, it will wear the Saab name, but not the marque's well-known griffin logo. Reuters reports that the company will produce EVs based on the Saab 9-3 platform, with intentions to sell these vehicles primarily in the Chinese market. Due to the continued use of the distinctive griffin head logo by commercial truckmaker Scania and the Saab aerospace group, NEVS was only granted access to the Saab name, not its emblem.
GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems
Mon, 30 Jun 2014General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
