2006 Saab 9-3 2.0 Turbo. Automatic transmission. This is a Flood Title vehicle. The repair was done years ago by a reputable dealer. I'm not sure how extensive the repair was but the previous owner had no issues and was happy with the car. I've also enjoyed the car and I haven't been able to find any residual effects of water damage. The under carriage is beautiful, no rust.
With that said, the car is a great looking car, clean and quick. Feels solid and goes down the road nicely. 4 matching Tires are in great shape, it does have a slight shimmy at high highways speeds, not too bad but it's there. The body looks good and shines nicely. The paint has normal nicks and scuffs consistent with the age and mileage. The drivers side rear door is damaged and can be seen in the pictures, although the damage doesn't stand out and can often be overlooked. The interior is Tan leather which is in good shape except the drivers seat shows some wear. I have two new seat covers that come with the car. The trim around the drivers seats needs some attention, it appears to need to be re-attached. It stays on just not tightly. Some of the black trim on a few bezel pieces has peeled off, apparently a common issue. Otherwise the interior is nice and very comfortable. So overall a clean nice driveable car, It's been a daily driver. Looks good and has been dependable but it does need some attention. Needs a state inspection, the right side headlight needs repair, it works but doesn't turn off and the passenger side power window doesn't always work and the auto climate control at times doesn't stay set. These are issues I lived with since they didn't bother me much until I needed the inspection. I took the car to the dealer, they said it needs a CIM module to repair each issue, the window, the light and heater. They said the CIM is a weak part on the 9-3 and controls all of the electrical and should fix all of those problems. The quoted me $500-700 to repair and after that the car is 100% inspectable. I've decided to upgrade to a new car so this one must go. A nice car and if your handy you can have a great car for the price. Pick up in Shavertown PA. $200 Paypal deposit due at the auction end. Saab plant reopens, production to resume by year's end?
Mon, 19 Aug 2013Saab is gearing up to start production of the 9-3 again in September, two years after the last exampled rolled off the assembly line at the company's Trollhättan factory, Aftonbladet reports. Saab's new owner, National Electric Vehicle Sweden AB (NEVS), a Chinese-Japanese consortium created solely to buy Saab, says that the model's parts supply is the bottleneck in the production process, understandable since many of Saab's suppliers closed after it stopped production two years ago. The automaker also needs to establish a new dealership network. It is not entirely clear where Saab will market their new models, but North America is not expected to figure into their plans, at least initially.
Almost 400 factory employees are reportedly back working at Trollhättan, and Saab is looking to recruit 180 workers to help with production, presuming the factory can overcome its supply issues and go back online in the fall.
The new 9-3 is understood to be something short of an all-new car, a revision of the old 9-3 that started production in 2002. It will reportedly be offered initially as a four-door sedan and two-door convertible, and it will have a turbocharged engine, according to NEVS, which we expect will be a four cylinder. An electric 9-3 could come as early as next year. Turbocharged engines are part of Saab's DNA, NEVS Vice President Mattias Bergman has stated, and future Saab models will have them - despite the automaker's planned progression toward electric vehicles. The 9-3 will get small facelifts over time, says Mikael Östlund, a press officer at NEVS.
National Electric Vehicle stops Saab 9-3 production amidst financing woes
Tue, 20 May 2014It seems that quirky, Swedish automaker Saab might be on life support yet again. Its owner, National Electric Vehicle Sweden, has announced that it's reducing its workforce and temporarily halting production of the 9-3 due to financial problems. NEVS was only building six cars a day, anyway.
The company put out a press release admitting its economic woes, but it still appeared hopeful. NEVS claims it's developing "a new platform on the Phoenix architecture," and it has a frame agreement with an international automotive OEM. It didn't give any specific details about either one of these assertions though. According to The Wall Street Journal, NEVS needs the partnership to lower development costs in order to stay afloat. Saab spokesperson Mikael Ostlund told Autoblog in an email that the stop in production of the 9-3 in Trollhättan would last four weeks.
NEVS says it's in negotiation to sell a portion of the company to an automotive company. Its current monetary woes are caused by shareholder Qingbo Investment Company not financing the company as agreed. "We plan to have the results of the discussions at latest during June," said Ostlund.
NEVS to build new Saab models in China's Qingdao
Thu, 10 Jan 2013National Electric Vehicle Sweden has officially signed a deal with Qingdao Qingbo Investment Company that will see the NEVS build EVs in Qingdao, China. The move is the first step on the road toward eventually selling vehicles in China. Reuters reports that the Chinese company has agreed to invest $307.33 million, after which point Qingdao Qingbo will receive 22 percent of the NEVS shares. Currently, there's no word on exactly when the funds and shares will change hands, but the Swedish automaker has previously said it fully intends to launch its first EV by early 2014.
NEVS has also made waves about potentially building a version of the old Saab 9-3 with a traditional internal combustion driveline. Currently, the manufacturer says it plans to ship the vehicles it builds in Sweden to the Qingdao port and distribute them to the rest of China from there. Later down the line, a manufacturing facility in Qingdao will supply the country with Chinese-built Saab models.
