2002 Saab 9 5 Turbo Linear Wagon on 2040-cars
Fairplay, Maryland, United States
Condition: Good except transmission problem. The car is in "limp home mode" due to a transmission issue. I took the car to a Saab mechanic who told me that there was an internal issue and that I should get a used/new transmission. My second opinion was from an AAMCO mechanic who told me that there was an internal electrical issue and that they can rebuild the transmission. I can drive the car using the shift like a manual transmission (as the Saab book said to do), start out in L, then shift into 3, then shift into 4, finally shifting into D. The car actually runs really good over 45MPH. I can get up to 75MPH without any problems. The AC is currently not working. The Saab mechanic told me that when the car goes into "Limp home mode" that non essential electrical items are shut down. He said when the transmission is fixed and the car is out of "limp home mode" that the ac should work just fine. I did check the freon levels and the levels are fine giving no indication of leaks. The interior is grey, leather. The leather is in very good condition. The faux wood does have a faded look as well as some chipping by the gear shift. Features: heated seats, power windows, power locks, sunroof, glove box can become an cooler, cd player (it had the multiple cd player in the rear but someone took that out), cassette player, alloy wheels, running day lights History: I do not know much about this vehicle's history. I bought the car at the auto auction 2 weeks ago. I had a body technician check out the car and he said the front end was replaced. He said that the title has a flag of salvage so that the owner probably junked the car given an accident to the front end (just speculation, not facts). I found a car history report which indicated salvage as of 2009, however the car was driven and inspected as of 2012 and 2014 (evidence from receipts and inspection stickers). My plan was to drive it however I was not banking on the transmission not working. I do drive the vehicle but I would rather have it fixed so that I don't get stranded somewhere and since that is not in my budget right now I am just trying to sell it for what I paid for it. Shipping and payment: I accept Paypal for payment or a cashier's check. Please remit $500.00 deposit via Paypal after 48 hrs of winning bid. I am located in Hagerstown, MD so local pickup is appreciated. If you are close by and would like me to drive the car to you please email me and we can chat about that possibility. The car is being sold AS-IS. If you have questions please ask me prior to bidding. Thank you! |

Saab to hire 200 engineers, might build gas cars with Mahindra
Thu, 14 Jun 2012The brand formerly known as Saab is still intent on teaching The Little Engine That Could a few ticks about persistence. We say "formerly known" because it turns out that National Electric Vehicle Swedent (NEVS), the Sino-Japanese investment consortium that just bought the majority of Saab's assets, minus Saab Automobile Parts AB, may not actually own the rights to the Saab brand name. According to a report in Di.se via Saabs United, NEVS will need to negotiate with Scania and the Swedish aerospace and defense group, Saab AB, for the right to name its forthcoming electric car the Saab 9-3.
NEVS is hiring 200 engineers now to work on its electric car program, and reports are that it will hire more as it gets closer to the 2014 launch. It will be based on the current (read: ancient) 9-3, and we hope NEVS is succeeds in getting the naming rights, because the NEVS 9-3 just doesn't have the same ring. NEVS will likely target China as the model's main market.
However, it's rumors of their second negotiating ploy that we're really rooting for: to work with Mahinda & Mahindra, the Indian company once in the running for Saab's assets, develop a petrol-powered 9-3 on the next-generation Phoenix platform, based on Jason Castriota's design.
Saab US bankruptcy plan gets legal green-light
Thu, 18 Jul 2013It feels utterly bizarre that we're still talking about Saab, but Reuters is reporting that the bankrupt Swedish manufacturer's American arm has gotten approval from the US Bankruptcy Court to liquidate its assets and pay back creditors. As part of the plan, secured creditors like Ally Financial will receive full repayment. Unsecured creditors, consisting of those affected by abandoned leases and contracts will get anywhere from 25 to 82 percent of their money back.
There are currently $77 million in unsecured claims, according to Reuters, but that number doesn't include claims from former Saab dealers. Naturally, the entire affair is full of lawyers and legalese. A trust formed on the Saab side will be negotiating with creditors and their affiliates in an attempt to reduce claims against Saab. This sounds like the start of a long and sordid affair...
GM recalling 250,000 SUVs over door electronics
Mon, 20 Aug 2012After a door-fire investigation that dates back to February, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has officially announced a recall today that affects around 250,000 General Motors SUVs for a faulty driver's door module. The recall applies to the Buick Rainier, Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, Isuzu Ascender and Saab 9-7X from the 2006 and 2007 model years, as well as the 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT and GMC Envoy XL for vehicles sold and/or registered in the Snow Belt.
Road salt use in these midwestern and northern states can lead to corrosion of the driver's door module on these GMT360 and GMT370 vehicles, which allows water to come in contact with the circuit board. If shorted out, the vehicle's power door locks and power windows will not work, and could possibly lead to overheating and, in some circumstances, a fire. No official word on how many total vehicles caught on fire, but back in June, 28 fires had been reported to the government agency. A fix for the problem is still being worked out, but all affected vehicle owners will be notified by GM.
