Saab 9 5, 9-5, 2000, Great Driving Car That Still Looks Good, No Reserve! on 2040-cars
Granville, Massachusetts, United States
This has been a very good car for us over the past few years, I have put 50k miles on it and it has never let me down. Previous to that it was owned by my cousin, who also had great service from this car. It's a reliable car that drives well and looks good. Recently replaced the complete exhaust turbo back, so there should be no issues for the life of the car. CT Emissions good until 11/15.
Clear coat peeling on hood and cracked paint/bondo on passenger front fender (have another fender that you can have if you want to do the paint work), otherwise very very nice body for the age and mileage, door dents and scratches are minimal. Black/charcoal leather interior is in great shape. It does have a check engine light for a P0171 code that I haven't gotten off, but does not effect drivability. Also has an intermittent key issue that requires a button press to bypass, have the parts to provide just hasn't been bothersome enough to replace, and the usual dropped pixels in the display. We've replaced it with a 2005 Saab. Once you've owned Saabs, we're a multiple Saab family, you'll understand that these really are exceptional cars for the money. Our last trip in the car before we moved on to the newer car was well over 500 miles round trip. Never thought twice about taking this car. AC works great, tires are good, suspension is all there, get in it and drive it, see if you can figure out what the life expectancy is, our previous Saab went over 300k. Small issues aside it's a great car for the money. Wouldn't hesitate to take it on any road trip, 26mpg, quick, comfortable. Can be seen in Granville, MA. |

NEV deal to buy Saab delayed
Fri, 03 Aug 2012Remember a month and a half ago when we told you that Saab will "soldier on?" Well, we should have written "stand at attention."
According to SaabsUnited, the deal for National Electric Vehicle Sweden to buy the remaining Saab assets didn't close on schedule. In fact, it's been delayed by "a month, perhaps more." NEVS also seems to have indicated that it's not going to be answering any more questions about the deal until it's completed.
NEVS is supposedly planning on building electric cars based on the design that would have been the next-generation 9-3. The company itself is a partnership between a Chinese energy company and a Japanese investment group.
Saab's never-was 9-3 gets a few better looks
Sat, 23 Mar 2013The recent glimpses we've been getting of the never-was Saab 9-3 Phoenix must be like rubbing salt on the wounds of all the Saab fans out there. If that's the case, diehard Saab enthusiasts might want to look away from this. SaabWorld has uncovered a handful of shots of what was to be the next-generation 9-3 hatchback, and boy does it look sharp.
Revealing a clearer look at what we previously saw in grainy images or as a full-scale model, these new pictures show what Jason Castriota had in mind for the new car. The front end is obviously inspired by Saab's Phoenix Concept, while the rear of the car pays homage to the Saab 900 hatchback.
We like the overall look. Let us know what you think in the Comments.
GM denies Spyker claims in $3B Saab lawsuit
Tue, 02 Oct 2012Reuters reports General Motors has dismissed claims by Spyker outlined in a $3 billion lawsuit. Spyker alleged GM deliberately bankrupted Saab by preventing a deal with Chinese investor Zhejiang Youngman Lotus. GM, meanwhile, filed a response with the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan saying that as the former owner of Saab, GM had the legal right to approve the deal with Youngman. But Spyker's lawsuit claimed GM's refusal to approve the deal with Youngman stemmed from the fact that the American automaker didn't want to create a competitor in China.
GM has said the issue stemmed more from the fact that it would stop licensing its technology to Saab or stop building vehicles for the manufacturer in the event it was bought by Youngman. Since Saab built its own platform that didn't use any GM tech, Spyker says that argument is meritless.
The lawsuit has Spyker seeking $3 billion in compensatory damages, though that number could swell with interest, punitive damages and legal fees, as well. Victor Muller, Spyker chief executive, has said the lawsuit is being funded by an anonymous third party. That party will share in any settlement. Youngman has refused to comment on whether or not it's footing the legal bill.
