Pretty 1988 Saab 900 Turbo Convertible.  Right color.  Super low miles!!!! 51,421 actual miles. Picked up from a elderly client who barely drove her. She spent a lot of time in a barn.  There is almost no rust that I can tell. If you are a saab nut, like me, you know what I mean.  No rust, rot in the usual spots(bottom of the doors, a-frame, etc)  The following is a summary of the pros and cons:

Pros
(1) No rust.  No rust.  No rust
(2) Outrageously low miles
(3) Automatic transmission shifts and drives very well.  Pretty smooth
(4) Steering and suspension tight and right. No wabbles, no stories.
(5)Brand new tires and four wheel alignment.  Original Pirellis P6 were all dry rot.  They were probably the original tires that was standard when purchased new.
(6) Top appears to have been replaced. No rips no holes.

(7) Rare and getting harder to find.

(8) A/C compressor clicks on, but it doesn't feel that cold. It probably need to be recharge to make it colder)

(9) Pre-GM stuff.  When saab was saab

Cons:
(1) Front seats bottoms need attention. See pixs
(2)Some paint imperfection on rear.  See pixs
(3) Radio does not work

(4) Small stone chip on center of windshield. See pixs

(5) Top goes up and down.  She does need some encouragement to go up.  The motor seems slow at times.

Please see all pix. She is not 100% perfect.  But, does not need much to be.  She is rock solid and with some attention to the interior, and misc small items, you have a nice car.  Considering her age and less and less on the road in this condition, you can not loss.

Let me know if you have any questions.  Thanks

Happy saabing

Nicolas Cage flogs Saab-based Senova from Beijing Auto [w/video]

Mon, 13 May 2013

BAIC has officially pulled the covers off of its new Senova D Series sedan for China. The four-door is based on the old Saab 9-5 and boasts a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. Local buyers can get their hands on the machine for around $22,745 at current conversion rates. Other engine options include a turbocharged 1.8-liter four cylinder as well as turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder, and a wide range of safety equipment comes standard on every trim except the very base model. Those goodies include a tire pressure monitoring system, active head restraints, blind spot detection, driver fatigue detection and parking sensors.
The Senova nameplate serves every model based on former Saab architectures, including the Epsilon, GM2900 and GM2400 platforms as well as engine and transmission tech. In order to promote its new products, BAIC has hired Hollywood staple Nicolas Cage to serve as the company's brand ambassador. Cage stars in the Senova-heavy Town of Car Legends action-packed video short (directed by Olivier Megaton of Transporter 3 and Taken 2 fame) which you can view by scrolling below.

NEVS announces 200 layoffs as it says Saab restart will 'take time'

Fri, 26 Sep 2014

For a fleeting moment a few weeks ago, the news from Saab-owner National Electric Vehicle Sweden appeared almost positive. The company had its reorganization plan approved (a day after it was denied), and the automaker was actually showing a real, running vehicle, albeit one with a top speed of 75 miles per hour. But those tiny crumbs of potential goodness have been swept away because NEVS has announced layoffs of as many as 200 factory employees in September "due to lack of work."
Workers probably shouldn't get too eager to return to the factory either, because company's "decision to re-start production will be further delayed" by an unspecified amount of time, NEVS says in a press release. To begin assembling cars again, the company needs to find long-term funding and a new majority owner. Those seem like two very steep hurdles for the embattled automaker to clear.
Despite not producing cars since May, NEVS still claims it's negotiating with a new owner, possibly Mahindra, but according to Reuters, the Swedish company owes about 400 million kronor ($56 million) to creditors. According to its layoff announcement, getting rid of these workers is one step in the business' reorganization plan to be presented on October 8. Scroll down to read its full release.

Grainy leaked images show stillborn Castriota-designed Saab 9-3

Mon, 04 Feb 2013

The Saab faithful are going to be playing the "what if" game for years to come. It's one of the burdens of being a fan of a dead brand. A fresh batch of grainy 9-3 Phoenix images have made their way online, alleged shots of a design proposal penned by none other than Jason Castriota. The five-door looks to feature an honest liftback, though SaabsUnited.com says this particular vehicle was drawn up as part of a business plan in early 2011. As such, Castriota apparently told the site the final product was to look much more athletic than what we see here. While the low-resolution images make it difficult to tell much about the design, we certainly appreciate the familiar roofline, full band taillamps and the contrasting rear spoiler reminiscent of the old Saab 99 and 900 ducktails.
Unfortunately, we know all too well why this creation never saw the light of day. Would-be savior Victor Muller couldn't quite pull Saab out of its nosedive, and the company fell into bankruptcy before the 9-3 Phoenix could get off the ground. There's talk of the Phoenix platform and Saab brand having new life in other markets as EVs and even as gas cars, but the model seen here will likely never see production - let alone North American showrooms.
