This car is a true survivor car and in very good, all original condition. The body has just one small area of surface rust above the front left wheel well (pictured), the convertible top has one small tear due to the hinge while the top was being put up/down (also pictured) but it's a surface tear and does not leak into the vehicle and those are the only flaws I see. The interior is original and pretty flawless. No cracks or tears anywhere. Structurally, this car is very solid and in fantastic shape for it's age. It will also come with all the original manuals in the original Saab pouch and the fog light covers will also be included. My history with this car: I purchased it about five years ago from the second owner, then I proceeded to drive it as often as I could. The only real thing I did was replace the muffler, added the sheepskin seat covers and I put in a brand new battery about a week ago. It was in near perfect working order when I got it but with how often I was driving it, it soon started to show it's age. I am not a mechanic, nor do I attempt to be, so the little things that started going wrong piled up which is now the reason I am letting it go to someone that wants to restore it to the gem that it can be. Following is a list of the mechanical issues that I know of: -The muffler and tailpipe were replaced about two years ago, about a year later the pipe just in front of the muffler got a hole so it's loud -the top/middle brake light works but the two bottom ones do not -power steering does not work -brakes need work -odd sound in a front wheel -tires need to be replaced -radio works but the cassette player does not -heated seats don't work -a good, solid tune up would help, too -it came to me with a brand new car cover but since I always kept it in a garage I rarely used it. I unfolded it recently only to find that a mouse seems to have chewed a few small holes in it. It can still be used to keep dust off but not for outdoor use. Again, this is an amazing, solid, car that can be made amazing again with a little effort. I had wanted one of these for a long time so when this popped up for sale, right near my house I jumped at the chance, now I'm letting it go to someone else that has the same fondness for these cool cars, so I can move onto another classic. |

Saab 900 SPG is the latest Petrolicious love story
Thu, 03 Oct 2013The latest video from the crew at Petrolicious covers one funky Swede - a 1989 Saab 900 SPG. Produced from 1978 to 1998, the 900 enjoyed a long history, and thanks to its iconic look, it's quickly becoming a modern classic for the off-kilter car enthusiast. The SPG, short for Special Performance Group, makes this a particularly rare find, with owner Jordan Melville saying, "I didn't even realize what I had at the time."
Melville gives a rundown of his life with the 900 and his passion for Saab overall, even reflecting on that dark day that saw the Swedish brand closed its doors. As always, the videography is excellent and the story is intriguing in this latest video from Petrolicious. You can view the entire video down below.
GM recalls 500K Chevy Camaros for ignition-switch defect
Fri, 13 Jun 2014General Motors issued a recall for more than a half million Chevrolet Camaros on Friday morning because of an ignition-switch safety hazard that mirrors the one at the center of the company's current crisis.
The problem affects Camaro models from the 2010 to 2014 model years. Approximately 464,712 cars are impacted in the United States, and 511,528 overall in North America. GM will alter the Camaro key to a more standard design, and will notify car owners with a recall notice in the mail.
In an announcement, the company said the ignition switches on the Camaros are fundamentally different parts than the older ignition switches found on defective cars that are responsible for killing at least 13 people and causing 54 crashes.
Last 900 Saabs heading to auction
Fri, 22 Jun 2012If you've been wanting to get your hands on one last new Saab but missed out on the great Saab sell-off when Saab Cars North America declared bankruptcy, well, your ship has now come in.
Actually, it came in last year - but hundreds of new Saabs got waylaid at ports in California and New Jersey because of the bankruptcy, according to SaabWorld.net. Those cars are now slated for auction, some 900 of them, which will be available for dealers, exporters and rental car companies to bid on beginning next week. Eventually, 300 of these cars should make their way to Saab dealers, where they're expected to be sold off at 30- to 50-percent discounts. The other 600 will either be exported or used as rentals, according to the report, so "the price of Saabs will not be severely depressed."
Besides the new cars, some 67 company cars, including some interesting stuff like a 1960 Saab Quantum IV and a 1970 Sonnett III, will also be auctioned off, according to the report. Of the new cars, just over half are 9-5 models, some 400 are 9-3 sedans, another 60 are 9-3 wagons, and about a dozen are convertibles. According to the report, 28 are actually 9-4X crossovers, which is more than 10 percent of Saab's total 2011 sales for that model.
