1978 Saab 99 Turbo, 101K orig miles, runs well, upgraded transmission from 4 to 5 speed, I have owned this car for close to 10 years, parked for years until recently. New paint, original Inca wheels, interior showing its age. Fun fast car thats really quite rare, being only one of 4233 imported to the USA in 1978. Production started in 1977 with 100 test cars and continued until 1980 when it was replaced by the 900 turbo. The 99 turbo was only imported to the US in 1978. NADA classic car values are pretty kind to this car, I am not so optimistic.  Has factory rear louvers and rare sunroof wind deflector. Front air dam is off of an 80's 900 turbo. The originals are very difficult to find and are very fragile.

Pros:
replace ball joints, fresh brake pads up front, new master cylinder, alternator, battery. New KYB shocks up front and have new rears but yet to install. Also included are new front rotos, calipers and rear pads. Rust free Pacific NW car purchased locally new. I am the 3rd owner. Sunroof seals with no leaks, runs well, shifts fine and stops well with power brakes.

Cons:

Paint is new but a 10 footer, interior showing its age, evidence of accident repair to left front but title is clean and clear, Tires are old, have plenty of tread but should be replaced. Missing all badges and lower trim for trunk. Windshield weather striping locking trim needs to be replaced, all corner pieces present and winshield seal is fine. 2 bullseyes in windshield, but same as 900's upto 1991. Tachometer is non-op, but hope to include another. Heater controls non-op but replacement included.

Overall, a nice example of a rare Saab, I have driven it regularly and had hoped to restore the interior but too many projects and the years are catching up on me. Fly in drive home condition. Solid fun to drive car. Please ask questions prior to bidding.

I am sure I am missing something but overall a nice example or a rare Saab Turbo 99. Drive anywhere, can prep for long trip at buyers expense if needed.

NEVS completes Saab purchase, earns right to brand name but not griffin badge

Mon, 03 Sep 2012

According to the Associated Press, a Hong Kong-based concern is close to building new Saab models. After some delays, National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS) has completed the purchase of bankrupt Swedish automaker Saab.
NEVS says it plans to debut an electric vehicle in about 18 months. When the car comes to market, it will wear the Saab name, but not the marque's well-known griffin logo. Reuters reports that the company will produce EVs based on the Saab 9-3 platform, with intentions to sell these vehicles primarily in the Chinese market. Due to the continued use of the distinctive griffin head logo by commercial truckmaker Scania and the Saab aerospace group, NEVS was only granted access to the Saab name, not its emblem.

Saab's latest Chinese owners facing their own credit woes

Sat, 16 Aug 2014

Poor Saab, it can't seem to get a break. General Motors couldn't seem to make a go of it, neither could Spyker, and now it seems that its latest owner is encountering some problems of its own.
That owner, of course, is National Electric Vehicle Sweden, a Swedish holding company owned by Chinese investors. NEVS recently restarted production at the Saab plant in Trollhättan, Sweden, and had some ambitious plans for the brand's revival, but it appears to have run out of cash.
This according to a report in The Wall Street Journal, which discovered that NEVS is having trouble paying its suppliers. One such supplier, called Labo Test, has reportedly been owed some $22,000 by NEVS since February, and without payment, petitioned the Swedish government to place NEVS into bankruptcy proceedings. If that seems a little extreme to you over twenty-two grand, it would seem the parties agree, as the petition has reportedly since been withdrawn.

Last 900 Saabs heading to auction

Fri, 22 Jun 2012

If you've been wanting to get your hands on one last new Saab but missed out on the great Saab sell-off when Saab Cars North America declared bankruptcy, well, your ship has now come in.
Actually, it came in last year - but hundreds of new Saabs got waylaid at ports in California and New Jersey because of the bankruptcy, according to SaabWorld.net. Those cars are now slated for auction, some 900 of them, which will be available for dealers, exporters and rental car companies to bid on beginning next week. Eventually, 300 of these cars should make their way to Saab dealers, where they're expected to be sold off at 30- to 50-percent discounts. The other 600 will either be exported or used as rentals, according to the report, so "the price of Saabs will not be severely depressed."
Besides the new cars, some 67 company cars, including some interesting stuff like a 1960 Saab Quantum IV and a 1970 Sonnett III, will also be auctioned off, according to the report. Of the new cars, just over half are 9-5 models, some 400 are 9-3 sedans, another 60 are 9-3 wagons, and about a dozen are convertibles. According to the report, 28 are actually 9-4X crossovers, which is more than 10 percent of Saab's total 2011 sales for that model.
