1992 Saturn Sl2 Base Sedan 4-door 1.9l on 2040-cars
Okeechobee, Florida, United States
Illness forces sale of my 1992 Saturn SL2. My wife had a stroke, and now I need the money for other things, not an electric car project. I originally bought this from a kid in Key Largo, Fl. It was a daily driver until the kid hit a curb and bent a control arm and frame. At that point, his Dad said as long as they were going to pull it apart to replace the sub frame and control arm, they should change the motor to a low mileage one. They got a new motor with about 70k miles on it from a local yard. At that point the kid buys a new car, leaving dad with a car kit! That is the way I got this kit. I bought a real good sub frame at a junk yard and a new control arm with bushings on Ebay. They went in fine. The wheels are back on, and the car is under cover. The car is complete, but still partially disassembled. The engine and trans are on a pallet. Everything else is inside the car in the trunk, like the exhaust pipe, header, ac stuff, radiator, anything I could remove. All the electric wires have not been touched or moved, so they should snap right back in place. This car can be easily reassembled back to a great little head turner, with The HULK airbrushed on the hood, or easily converted to an electric car like I was going to do. Any way, it is complete, with no rust, only a few cosmetic chips, but with this paint job, you can touch it up easily. A great father son project, electric car project, hot tuner project, endless possibilities, just not in my driveway! The parts alone are worth more than I am asking. The only thing I would change is the front windshield. It has a crack. The last kid drove it as is, and I never did, so that is up to you. The car will have to be pulled up onto a trailer. I will help with that part. I can pick up the pallet to load the engine. The trans is light enough to carry. Thanks for looking. Bid soon, and bid often! Low reserve!

GM appears to repurpose Saturn Outlook parts on new Acadia
Thu, 09 Feb 2012General Motors unveiled the company's refreshed GMC Acadia at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show yesterday, and if you were paying attention, you may have noticed something curious about the vehicle. While the new Acadia looks considerably better than its predecessor, a few components of the design looked more than a little familiar. Upon closer observation, it appears that GM has simply repurposed elements of the now defunct Saturn Outlook crossover on the 2013 Acadia. Both vehicles seem to share the same wrap-around rear glass, back hatch, tail light openings and exaggerated, squared-off fender arches.
While the vehicles are differentiated by badging, tail lamps and a rear valance, there's no denying the similarities toward the vehicle's rear. Up front, both share similar fenders, though adjustments have been made for the varying headlight designs.
That's good news if you just can't imagine life without the Saturn Outlook.
Car thief lands Saturn on Fresno roof
Fri, 06 Jan 2012Residents of a Fresno, California apartment building recently awoke to debris falling from their ceiling after a car thief managed to execute a perfect parking job on the structure's roof. Police say 26-year-old Benjamin Tucker stole the Saturn sedan from a nearby house before striking either a curb or some rocks, vaulting the vehicle into the air and onto the roof. After seeing his predicament, Tucker leapt from the roof and fled the scene. Or at least he tried to. Tucker broke his leg in the fall and only made it around a quarter of a mile from the crash when police picked him up.
No one else was harmed in the stunt.
Tucker had two outstanding warrants for his arrest at the time for a hit-and-run and evading police. A special crane had to be called in to remove the Saturn from the apartment roof and the structure will indeed require repairs. Hit the jump for a news report on the incident.
STUDY: Ford owns brand loyalty in 2009; Scorned Saturn, Pontiac buyers will look outside of GM
Fri, 16 Oct 2009Ford buyers appear to love their cars more than customers of any other automotive brand, returning back to the American automaker when it comes time to purchase their next vehicle. According to a study by Experian Automotive, six of the top 10 vehicles for customer brand loyalty wear badges from the Blue Oval. That includes the Ford Fusion (62.4 percent), Ford Edge (57.9 percent), Ford Five Hundred/Taurus (56 percent), Ford Freestyle (51.9 percent), Ford Escape (49.4 percent) and the Ford Focus (47.57 percent).
Other vehicles making up the top 10 include the Toyota Prius (52 percent), Chevy Impala (51.7 percent), Toyota Camry (47.8 percent) and Toyota Corolla (47.56 percent). This brings up an interesting question: With the closing of automotive brands like Saturn and Pontiac, where are those buyers to turn for their next automotive purchase?
Apparently, not back to General Motors. According to Experian, Pontiac owners are most likely to look to the Ford lineup for their next car or truck and Saturn shoppers will switch to Toyota or Honda - not particularly surprising given that Saturn was meant to compete with import brands. Experian predicts that GM's overall market share will fall from 20 percent to about 17.5 percent, with most of the slack being picked up by Ford, Honda and Toyota.
