I purchased the car as an "extra" vehicle. I knew when I bought it there were issues. Thought that I had them all taken care of. At the end of May, I noticed when I pulled out from a traffic light, there was a small puff of smoke. When I took it to the mechanic, he said that there was a misfire in cylinder 3, and a loss of compression. He has informed me that this could be caused by several things, and he would not know for sure until after he starts to work on it. Problem for me, I do not want to invest any more money into it! So here is what I had done to it in the last 8 months; new clutch 4 new shocks, valve seals, alternator, 2 sets of tires (back are different than front). As you can see, there is common paint peel on the hood and driver's side door. The car DOES currently run (not as it should) however on occasion may stall when you come to a sudden stop. The headliner is garbage, the power windows work, however sometimes stick. Power locks work perfectly, cruise control works great. AC does not currently work, however the option is there. This car is far from perfect, however for a someone who has the ability, it has potential to be a great little car! Even not running right, it is averaging 32 MPG! Questions? Clever video selling Saturn Ion "sex machine" will catch your eye

NHTSA opens safety investigations into Toyota, GM and Honda crossovers
Fri, 08 Jun 2012The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is evidently keeping itself very busy these days, as the federal agency has just announced it is launching or renewing investigations into Toyota, Honda and General Motors crossovers.
2006-2008 model year Toyota RAV4 crossovers are under review for allegations of rear tie-rod rust which can result in failure. NHTSA also said it is probing some 35 complaints about 2005 Honda Pilot models with inappropriate activation of the vehicles' stability control system. The alleged malfunction can cause the vehicles to slow down or stop in bad unsafe situations. At the moment, NHTSA is reviewing a petition regarding the Pilot issue, a move that will determine whether it needs to open a full-blown investigation.
In addition, Saturn Outlook and GMC Acadia three-row crossovers built in 2007-2009 are getting looked at for "loss of low beam headlamp" function. One complainant said the wiring in his Outlook overheated and melted. NHTSA says it has received 415 complaints about the problem and a GM spokesman confirmed that the automaker already started a "Customer Satisfaction Program" in December to address the issue.

Even though both the Saturn and Hummer brands are being phased out, General Motors has reportedly revived production of both the Outlook crossover and H3 SUV to meet consumer demands.
Last month, GM assembled 1,037 Outlooks at its Lansing, Michigan facility, which is where the crossover's Lamda platform stablemates (Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia) are built. A spokesperson for GM states that production was reinstated to utilize the rest of the Saturn-specific material at the facility, and that the automaker will continue to assemble the Outlook for a few more weeks.
