1997 Saturn Sl2 Base Sedan 4-door 1.9l on 2040-cars
Winfield, Pennsylvania, United States
This is a blue 1997 Saturn SL2. I bought it about three years ago. It was lightly wrecked on the front right corner. My dad fixed it for me, and I have driven it since then. It has been an awesome first car! I liked it so much that I just upgraded to a newer Saturn. Unfortunately, that means this one has to go. This car still runs and drives great! It has cruise control and power windows. This car gets awesome gas mileage. It averaged 27 mpg city for me! We just rebuilt the valve body and had the starter done. The paint has some minor scratching and there is the typical Saturn headliner issue. The AC and heat are very good. The interior is clean. It is PA inspected through 8/14. Cash only please. Please, contact me with any questions! Text or call 570-765-8589.

Lutz dishes dirt on GM in latest Autoline Detroit
Mon, 20 Jun 2011Bob Lutz sits down for Autoline Detroit - Click above to watch video after the jump
Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:
All Chevrolet vehicles were required to have five-spoke aluminum wheels and a chrome band up front, as part of the Bowtie brand's overall image.
Saturn Ion steering probe closed by NHTSA
Tue, 22 Apr 2014The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has closed its investigation into faulty electric power steering motors affecting 334,728 Saturn Ions from 2004-2007, because General Motors has issued a recall for them. The group's research found that the part failed at a high rate in the vehicles.
GM recalled over 1.3 million vehicles a few weeks ago, including the Ion, because the power steering could suddenly fail. If broken, the cars could still turn, but it took greater effort. The automaker is also covering 96,324 2003 Ions with a lifetime warranty for their motors, but it's not immediately replacing them.
NHTSA opened its investigation into the motors in September 2011, and it found 4,787 complaints and 30,560 warranty claims that showed failure for the Ion alone. It estimated a complaint rate of 14.3 incidents per 1,000 vehicles and warranty claim rate of 9.1 percent. The investigation also found evidence of 12 crashes caused by loss of steering, two of which resulted in injuries.
