2011 Scion Xb Handicap ( Wheelchair ) Conversion Van / Car on 2040-cars

US $18,500.00
Year:2011 Mileage:57500
Location:

Dodgeville, Wisconsin, United States

Dodgeville, Wisconsin, United States

We are selling our one-owner Scion xb (made by Toyota) compact sport utility vehicle / car. We had it converted by Freedom Motors in Battle Creek, MI. As shown in the photos, it has a passenger side entry/ramp. We chose the manual ramp because it is quick and easy, as well as trouble free - we wanted to avoid the $$$ costly repairs to the automatic ramp in our previous minvan. The Scion xb has won the Top Safety Pick for 6 years in a row. Made by Toyota, the Scion is guaranteed to run for many, many more years.

The car will accommodate most wheelchairs, including most power wheelchairs, but unfortunately we unknowingly just bought our daughter one of the few that will not fit (a Permobil m300; the c300 does fit). Sadly, we have to go back to a minivan thus have to sell our Scion.

The best feature of the Scion is it's awesome mileage - I get 33 mpg highway and 26 or 27 city. I usually average 30 or so because I do a little of both - though that number drops in the really cold weather. My mileage is higher than the ratings for the vehicle. I assume that's because it has a MANUAL TRANSMISSION. The configuration worked great for our family - my daughter in her wheelchair sits beside the driver and there is still seating for 3 more passengers in the back. Also an impressive amount of storage in the rear area (more than the minivan we switched out of for the Scion!). One of my photos shows the car with the original cloth seat back in place, but it rolls out for wheelchair use.

We have put about 57,000 miles on the car and my husband diligently changed oil and kept up with all maintenance. The air conditioning works great, and it has cruise and a stereo with cd player and comfortable driver's seat. We recently put new tires on the car so they should last a good long while. I would never be selling, except for the issue with my daughter's power chair. We also will include a set of q'straint straps. There is also a trailer hitch, as this car can pull a trailer or very light camper.

We have priced it below the $20,000 appraisal we received from Freedom Motors and will entertain all fair offers.

So if you have the ability to drive a 5 speed manual (or are willing to learn - it's fun!) and are looking for a very fuel efficient wheelchair-converted vehicle, this car is a welcome alternative to the minivan. Again, most chairs will fit, but you will need to check yours specifically. We have no mechanical issues whatsoever - we took care of it carefully and intended to drive it for years yet. One of our photos shows a small (nickel-sized) dent in passenger rear over the tire, and there are a couple scratches that go with it. Other than that the body is in great shape.

A $500.00 deposit is due within 24 hours of auction end. Full payment must be made within 7 days of auction end. All funds must clear before vehicle is released. You will need to make arrangements for pickup, though we would assist in a short-distance delivery within Southern Wisconsin.

Scion pondering move upmarket?

Mon, 01 Apr 2013

Scion is simultaneously celebrating its ten-year anniversary with the 10 Series models and trying to figure out what to do with itself over the next ten years. Once a go-to consideration for young, first-time buyers who wanted something cool and different, in 2013 it has a model everyone is still talking about in the FR-S, a model few are still talking about in the iQ, and three models in between in the tC, xB and xD that make everyone wonder, "What happened?"
Automotive News spoke to Toyota's North American CEO, Jim Lentz - he was the VP in charge of Scion when it launched - about the options, and Lentz said one of them could be a move upmarket to challenge the established luxury brands that are moving downmarket. "There's going to be a big need in the $25,000 range for a fun-to-drive, nice-looking, value-oriented product," he said, and the FR-S, which starts at $25,255, could provide the platform for Scion to climb up a notch or two in price and perception. An idea like this could conceivably work in tandem with a proposal to move entry-level Scion products over to the Toyota brand - but remember, this is all just ideas on a whiteboard at the moment.
As opposed to an "entry-luxury fighter," the brand could swing back to the other option that was considered when it was formed, directly challenging the Korean makes that have usurped its cachet with first-time buyers. Lentz said Scion could go either way, and the tone of the piece seems to indicate that the final direction is still a ways away from being resolved.

Scion sketches SEMA spread starring Slayer, skateboarder

Sat, 20 Sep 2014

I was in Nashville last weekend for a friend's bachelor party. It's all rather fuzzy, but I do recall that my friends and I found it hilarious to request Slayer every time one of the country groups on the Broadway strip asked for a specific song to be played. While there were a few good sports, most didn't find it too funny, largely because country music and Slayer don't mix all that well. Actually, Slayer and a lot of things don't mix too well. Like Slayer and Scion, Toyota's slowly withering youth brand.
This mish-mash hasn't prevented the Japanese budget brand from teaming with the metal group for a concept vehicle based on the tC coupe (shown above). If the Slayer link is a bit too extreme, Scion has a more mainstream xB, styled by skateboarder Riley Hawk on the way. Both new vehicles will be shown at the upcoming SEMA show, but Scion has opted to release a pair of sketches of both aftermarket creations ahead of the Las Vegas expo.
It's hard to tell what kind of exterior changes have been made to the tC, although Scion says the cabin now boasts a 32-inch monitor, as well as a heavily revamped stereo. As you can see, it will say "Slayer" on the door, in the band's stylized script.

Buy a Toyota GT86 and your wife will hate you

Wed, 14 Nov 2012

Marketing can be a very strange business. Convincing a man or woman (or child, really) that they absolutely cannot live without the latest, greatest new bit of technology oftentimes takes a unique approach. In the "online film promoting the Toyota GT86" you'll see below, created by agency Happiness Brussels, men are reverse-psychologied into thinking a new sports coupe will make them more masculine by getting their loved ones to hate them. Or something like that. We think.
In any case, we suggest you watch the video below to see how much fun men can have with a GT86 - or Scion FR-S or Subaru BRZ, presumably - at the expense of their significant others. Fair warning: There's a potential Not Safe For Work moment in the ad: beware of a brief male butt shot about 44 seconds in.
Marketing. Gotta love it. Unless you're married to a man. Or something like that. We think. Whatever, just watch.
