2009 Subaru WRX. 4-door, WRX Blue Mica. Purchased this car new in August 2009. Price is $16,250 firm. NO TRADES.

I am near Boston. I will not ship the car.

See pictures at WRX Slideshow by chrismyers99Chrismyers99 | Photobucket More pictures to come.

This car is mechanically perfect, and is totally stock. Occasionally driven quickly, but never thrashed.

Maintained to the manufacturer’s schedule, except the oil changes that I do more frequently; full synthetic oil every 5,000 miles. I have the complete maintenance records since I purchased the car except for one receipt that I lost. Nothing but Zymol products when cleaning, inside and out.

The exterior does have a couple of very minor dings that you will see when you look the car over. And being Subaru paint (not the best out there), there are stone chips on the front.

This is what comes with the car:

Upgraded stereo; Sony model SXV200V1. Good unit, with USB, satellite, etc. Four Alpine 6.5” Coaxial speakers. The sound is very good.

WeatherTech mats for winter, front and back. Stock summer mats in the back and nice berber matts in the front. WeatherTech mat in the trunk.

Factory wheels have Michelin Pilot Super Sports, 225/45ZR17. Purchased Oct 2013, they have only 9,480 miles on them.

Second set of wheels for winter, wearing Bridgestone Blizzaks, 225/50R16 92R. They have seen several winters but have one more in them. The wheels are nothing special; $290 delivered to my door, but they do look pretty good on this car. They do have some big and obvious spots of oxidized aluminum. They have a second set of tire pressure sensors in them so the TPSM will work without having to remove the sensors from the summer wheels and installing them.

Garmin nuvi 750 nav/gps - This has properly installed, concealed wiring in the car, and a second cigarette-lighter cable should you want to use it in another car.

Escort 9500ix Passport radar detector - This has properly installed, concealed wiring in the car, and a second cigarette-lighter cable should you want to use it in another car.

Subaru's first hybrid drawing close

Sun, 27 Jan 2013

In 2011 Subaru parent company Fuji Heavy Industries confirmed that a hybrid Subaru would debut this year. Ever since, there's been speculation about what kind of technology the gasoline-electric hybrid would use - Subaru's own or some version of the Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive, which car would debut the new system - Forester, Legacy, or Outback - and whether it would come to America or be a Japan-only model.
A report in The Detroit Bureau says that whatever that first model is, it could be shown as soon as the New York Auto Show, and while the company feels it's a must-have offering for the Japanese market it will also come to the US. It will have a Subaru-developed mild hybrid system that could have been previewed by the Hybrid Tourer concept shown at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show, and is not expected to be able to drive on electric power alone. The Hybrid Tourer used a direct-injected, 2.0-liter boxer engine connected to a CVT and assisted by an electric motor rated at 13 horsepower. Subaru has yet to give anything away about the details of its hybrid plans, so we'll look to New York for the long-awaited unveil.

2014 Subaru Forester XT

Tue, 14 May 2013

Power Doesn't Come Cheap
When Subaru first offered a turbocharged Forester XT model to US customers for the 2004 model year, the shoe-shaped second-gen model fell into a ready-made competitive set of small, V6-powered crossovers and SUVs. The XT might have been more of a raucous shopping-trip companion than, say, a Ford Escape V6, but the basics of the cars offered a clear differentiation from the naturally aspirated, four-cylinder models found just a bit downmarket. Here in 2013, the V6 breed of crossover in this size class is all but extinct, and turbocharged four-cylinders with the power to compete with the XT are not thick on the ground.
In many ways, the comparative analysis gets most interesting when you start looking around for CUVs to match up with the all-boxes-ticked Forester XT Touring that we had as a tester for a recent week. The top of the line Touring trim means that the Forester comes with features like 10-way power seats, leather, navigation, a Harmon Kardon sound system with HD radio, Bluetooth and more. In fact, our Forester also had the only option package available on the XT Touring; one that included keyless access, HID headlights and Subaru's EyeSight system (adaptive cruise, lane departure warning and pre-collision braking).

US Army tests Subaru-powered hybrid truck

Sat, 04 Jan 2014

The military has been studying the implementation of alternative drivetrains for years, a tiny sampling of which includes the diesel-electric hybrid technical hauler and L-ATV from Oshkosh Defense and the Aggressor from Quantum Technologies. There was also ADA Technologies' work with ultracapitors, General Motors' focus on fuel cells and the roll out of electric motorcycles for Special Forces. In the Ultra Light Vehicle (ULV) prototype vehicle pictured above, we have the latest developments in the Department of Defense's hybrid interest combined with a need to develop a lightweight replacement for the AM General Humvee.
In 2010 the Office of the Secretary of Defense put the Army's Tank Automotive Research, Development, and Engineering Center (TARDEC) in charge of developing a personnel carrier that could "balance payload, performance and protection," and do so without exorbitant cost. Armored Humvees can weigh more than seven tons, and while the ULV is just under 14,000 pounds, the new vehicle can do a lot more with its weight.
The Subaru turbodiesel under the hood puts out 175 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. That's not much for pulling 13,916 pounds, so it's assisted by two Remy 410HVH HT electric motors each capable of adding 268 continuous hp and 369 peak hp, along with 844 lb-ft of continuous torque or 1,221 ft-lbs at peak. They're only limited by the 14.2 kWh lithium-ion battery rated at 65 kW of continuous power and 180 kW of peak power, but still, TARDEC says the ULV can do 21 miles on electric power and on the flats has a combined range of 337 miles at 35 mph.
