This vehicle is in great shape!  I take very good care of my vehicles and am very stringent on maintenance and upkeep.  I only use synthetic oil, and I change it NLT every 3,000 miles (as you should with a turbo vehicle).  This Subaru has a K&N filter, Perrin divorced waste gate downpipe, and 3" piping all the way back to the split and remains 3" to the aftermarket dual outlet mufflers.  I had them put the piping about 2/3 of the way into one one muffler, and half of the way in the second to get both a snappy and deep distinctive Subaru tone.  It also has a COBB AP stage II tune (currently for 91 octane, but easily reprogrammable for 93- the COBB AP comes with the car- a $600 value!).  The clutch was just replaced by Subaru less than 5K ago.  I have done all of the scheduled maintenance and a bunch of preventative stuff to ensure this car continues to drive like new (spark plugs, drive shafts, wheel bearings, etc.).  The brakes are slotted and cross-drilled rotors (good ones) with ceramic pads.  They have less than 3K on them and stop STRONG! The tires have at least 2/3 of the life left on them and are great in the snow.  This car is a MANUAL (5-speed) which is very rare in the Legacy GT wagon, and it is loads of fun!  I am a mature driver (43), so this car hasn't been beaten.  However, I will tell you that it will take a new WRX and I have kept up with or pulled away from numerous Subaru STi's and Mitsubishi Evos.  This  car does have added STi (Subaru Technica International) badging on the side and back.  The Thule rack and lug adapter are included with car.

The Good:

-Very Good Condition (I consider excellent condition a showroom looking car with LOW miles)

-The reliable performance mods are already done

-EVERYTHING works!

-The car drives better than new

-This car is fast and it's a manual

-The car is awesome in snow

The Bad:

- Some minor blemishes on the exterior

- I have added a couple of stickers to the interior (see pics- I like them), but could easily be removed with Goo Be Gone.

- I just noticed a squeak coming from the suspension.  Not sure what it is, and right now it's minor (could just need some grease, or may need new bushings).  Does not effect the way it drives in any way, and is not that noticeable at this point, but me being me, I would have it checked out because I can't have a car that squeaks... even if it is just a little!

Next Subaru WRX and STI to go sedan only; reveal headed for LA

Mon, 26 Aug 2013

After a serious bit of teasing at the 2013 New York Auto Show, Subaru might be finally preparing to pull the sheets off of the production versions of the new WRX and STI. The venue, according to Automotive News, will be the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show in November. Besides that tasty bit of info, AN has a number of other interesting ideas about the 2015 WRX.
If you've been a fan of the five-door bodystyle, don't read this - the next WRX and STI will reportedly go four-door only. We've already seen the latter's whopping great wing, a tradition we're happy to see soldering on for next-gen car. According to the AN report, power figures to be around 265 horsepower from a 2.5-liter, turbocharged, flat-four engine.
Los Angeles is still quite far off, so expect to hear more rumblings about a production WRX or STI in the coming weeks. Take a look above for our most recent batch of spy photos, and then hop down below for some images of the stunning WRX Concept that was shown at New York.

Six 'shut up and take my money' cars

Tue, 11 Nov 2014

Any time you see this iconic moment in pop culture - Shut up and take my money! - posted in response to a new car reveal, rumor for an upcoming model or even lip-service to a vehicle that should exist, you can bet there's some intrinsic good in the idea. Though depending on the person offering up the cash, that good could take the form of extraordinary form, functionality, weight savings, power, handling, etc. You get the idea.
In fact, when I first proposed this list, I reached out to the Autoblog staff to help me brainstorm. Here are some of the ideas they offered up that I ultimately didn't use: Jaguar XE Coupe, Pagani Huayra Roadster, Mercedes-Benz S-Class "parade car" (cabriolet), Morgan 3-Wheeler with Ducati V-twin, Ford Transit Connectamino (pickup), Mercedes CLA63 AMG, Ford Fusion 5.0, BMW i8 Spyder, Lexus RC-F Shooting Brake, Volvo XC90 Polestar. Oh, and things we collectively wanted to stick Dodge's Hellcat in were almost as numerous as models that Fiat Chrysler Automotive currently makes (though none quite so compelling as the Grand Cherokee you see above.)
Ultimately though, while I used a couple of ideas from my colleagues, the list of cars I'd shell out for unquestionably is very personal. Though it isn't complete, what follows is a selection of cars whose very existence would prompt me - or the trust-fund-baby versions of me - to utter without hesitation: "Shut up and take my money."

Subaru details BRZ tS, stops short of full-on STI

Mon, 19 Aug 2013

Fans of the sweet-handling Subaru BRZ awaiting some performance enhancements got their hopes up earlier this month when parent Fuji Heavy Industries dropped some teasers hinting at an apparent STI version, but as was subsequently suspected, the model in question - now revealed in full - stops short of being a full-on STI model.
What we're looking at here is the new Subaru BRZ tS, which incorporates a series of enhancements but leaves the engine alone. Available exclusively in the Japanese Domestic Market, the BRZ tS package includes a thicker driveshaft, a front lip spoiler, Brembo ventilated brake discs packed inside 18-inch wheels and a smattering of STI logos inside and out. STI has also upgraded the suspension components, retuned the stability control and exhaust note and enhanced the interior with some carbon and Alcantara touches. An additional GT package includes further upgrades, most noticeably the giant rear wing (made of carbon fiber) shown above, black-painted alloys and Recaro bucket seats.
Only 500 examples of the BRZ tS will be offered in Japan, with no more than 250 of those outfitted with the supplementary GT package. Here's hoping Subaru gives us a taste on this side of the Pacific as well - or better yet, maybe they'll quit joking around and give us the full-on STI already.
