Car has been well maintained.   I have always used the premium grade of gasoline as is recommended for cars that are turbocharged.

It has low actual miles because I had a second vehicle that I used on weekdays/workdays, I traded my work vehicle which had 211,000 miles on it, for a new Subaru Forester (which I love), so I am selling my little, red, Subaru, because I really don't need two vehicles.

My little, red, Subaru came equipped with the "cold weather package", so it has heated mirrors, and heated, cloth, seats.

Since it is a GT version it does have most of the things one would expect:  power "everything", except seats.  6-disk CD player, and rear spoiler. And, of course, the turbocharged engine that puts out 250 horses.

I recently had to replace the original battery with a new battery.  It's just had a 4-wheel alignment, and the brakes were replaced on one axle........The other axle only having 40% wear on its' brakes.  I also had the brake fluid drained, via vacuum pump (as per Subaru's recommendation), and replaced with fresh, while it was in for its alignment and brake job.  Further, I changed the spark plugs, and put some new windshield wipers on, and I believe this car will get you, or your' youngster, around for a good amount of time before it needs any additional maintenance.  Changed the air filter, too, while I had the air box out to change the spark plugs.

So........I'm looking for an admirer of Subaru's to come and take a look, and hopefully, you'll like this car as much as I do.

****As a bonus:  I'll even give you my Hayne's Repair Manual so you can do the minor things with a little instruction, like I do.

Ford tumbles to second worst in Consumer Reports reliability survey, list dominated by Japanese [w/video]

Mon, 29 Oct 2012

It's no secret that MyFord Touch has had its share of problems since being introduced, but the most recent reliability survey from Consumer Reports shows just how much this infotainment system has affected Ford. Just two years ago, the automaker was in the top 10 for the institute's reliability rankings, but since then, it has tumbled to the second-lowest rung just above dead-last Jaguar. In addition to MyFord Touch, CR also attributes a handful of new products that have had issues right out of the gate.
Compiled from 1.2 million subscriber surveys, this year's auto reliability survey heavily favors Japanese automakers, with eight of the 10 spots hailing from Japan. Toyota brands grabbed the top three spots (Scion, Toyota and Lexus - in that order) with Mazda, Subaru, Honda and Acura filling the next four spots. The only non-Asian automaker cracking the top 10 was Audi at number eight.
Audi climbed a total of 18 spots from last year, and Cadillac and GMC round out this year's top gainers breaking into the top 15. Helping Cadillac's upward movement, the CTS Coupe was named the most reliable domestic car. Lincoln, Volvo and Chrysler join Ford on this year's biggest loser list.

Mark Higgins sets new Isle of Man record in Subaru STI

Wed, 04 Jun 2014

Subaru has done it again, setting a new four-wheel lap record around the 37.75-mile TT Mountain Course at the Isle of Man. Mark Higgins in a 2015 WRX STI rocketed through the country roads at an average speed of 116.40 miles per hour to circle the track in 19 minutes, 26 seconds, thereby beating his previous record of 19 minutes 56.7 seconds from 2011 in an STI.
According to Subaru, speeds during the lap ranged from as little as 30 mph to over 160 mph. The STI was mostly stock with the only major mechanical change being different springs and dampers to handle the course's famous bumps at such sustained high speeds. For safety, it also had a rollcage, racing harness, and fire suppression system.
"It was quite a lap we did today and I am really happy to have another record in the bank. The chassis of the new car is so much better it really allowed me to pick up time in each sector in the more technical parts of the course," said Higgins about the run in the Subaru.

Subaru uses a mime and a toy car to explain why it loves the boxer engine

Wed, 17 Apr 2013

I will freely admit to struggling with why Subaru continues to stubbornly employ a boxer engine design while so few other automakers do the same. After all, with twice the number of cylinder heads and cams as a traditional inline four-cylinder engine, a boxer four is more complex, more expensive to manufacture and more cumbersome to service with few tangible benefits. Until recently, the company's engines struggled to meet the fuel economy numbers of its competitors while offering no real boon in horsepower or torque. Subaru seems to recognize I'm not the only one scratching my head.
In order to help us non-believers understand what's what, the company has employed a pair of mimes, a toy car and a few clay engines to demonstrate the folly of every other automaker on the planet. Subaru says the boxer offers up a lower center of gravity than either an inline four-cylinder engine or a V6, which I will gladly concede. The company also says the design offers up smoother operation.
I'll offer just two counterpoints here. First, an engine with a low center of gravity is excellent, but when vehicles like the Forester, XV Crosstrek and Outback boast more ground clearance than most mainstream SUVs, that argument flies out the window. Second, anyone who's spent any amount of time behind the wheel of a vehicle equipped with an inline four and then proceeded to move into one propelled by a boxer can tell you the latter has all of the idling manners of a small tractor. Check out the video below to see for yourself.
