2007 Subaru Sti Limited on 2040-cars
Waldorf, Maryland, United States
I bought this car brand new for basic transportation. I talked my wife into taking a look at the STi, but she didn't care for the racer appearance. The salesman said "We do have a Limited edition in the back, if you want to take a look." I had heard of the Limited, but they were so scarce that I never thought I'd get a shot at one. Obviously the wife and I both loved it, and we bought it on the spot. The salesman almost got into a fight with another one there at the dealership because the other guy claimed to have a customer coming the next day to buy it. My salesman said "Look, these people are here now, they're paying full sticker, it's my sale." And that was how we snagged this baby. It has been the best car in terms of day to day practicality plus performance, but I need to pull some kayaks and it no longer fits out needs. It has never been raced or wrecked, everything is all original, even the cold air intake is an SPT item. The interior is cherry when you consider the mileage and no computer reprogramming has been done. No suspension mods either, and the muffler is original as well. I had the center differential replaced and the trans disassembled and fluid changed in 2010 at 79K miles, under warranty. Brake fluid was changed in 2011. Slotted rotors got added in 2012 along with FEAL Suspension STi front and rear struts. March of this year I replaced two of the tires because of a single flat. There is good tread on the two older tires, and all are Rotella F106 225/45R17 94W XL tires. There's an extra if you want it, and I have the original factory air intake and wipers for you resto nuts. I replaced the air splitter (it's about parking lot barrier height unfortunately) and repainted the rear spoiler as it was fading, just this month. I've always used synthetic oil, by the way. Personally I hate auctions with a reserve so high that it becomes a joke, so I will give you the punch line early: it's a dollar! My reserve/price is fair market value based on the NADA guides for this specific car and my knowledge of its rarity. Only 800 units of the STi Limited were made in 2007. Go figure how many are still on the road. If you want a Limited that's been maintained impeccably by an adult and has never seen abuse, then this is the car for you. I have to warn you though, serious inquiry's only. It is for sale locally, so first to pay in full will get it even if it is prior to the auctions end date. As far as pick up or shipping, that's your responsibility. I will make every effort to be there if you send a shipper, but local pickup is preferred. |

Subaru recalling 660k vehicles in some states for possible brake line corrosion
Thu, 03 Jul 2014Subaru is recalling 660,238 vehicles located in 20 US states that use salt on their roads. It's possible that salty water could splash onto the rear brake lines, and it could eventually cause corrosion and potentially perforation, leading to a fluid leak.
The recall covers the 2005-2009 Outback and Legacy, 2008-2011 Impreza, 2008-2014 WRX and STI and 2009-2013 Forester. However, only vehicles currently or formerly registered in the following snowy US states or districts are covered: Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin and the District of Columbia. The company previously recalled the 2005-2009 Legacy and Outback to repair this problem, and now it's added the additional models, plus any of the original cars it missed the first time.
According to the defect notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Subaru found a total of 24 cases of corrosion in US leading up to the recall. There was a single case of actual brake line perforation, but it happened in Switzerland, according to the document. The company believes that it would take seven or more seasons of winter driving on salty roads before any corroding would begin.
2014 Subaru Forester gets big nod of approval from Consumer Reports
Wed, 22 May 2013While more and more buyers seem to be opting for the functionality of car-based crossover vehicles every day, it's rare that your read much in the way of passionate praise for one. And, while Consumer Reports doesn't exactly lavish written paeans on the Subaru Forester in its latest review - that's just not its style - it did give the CUV a remarkably high overall score.
Praising its excellent fuel economy, visibility, roomy interior and a whole lot more, the testing publication bestowed an overall score of 88 out of 100 on the Forester. That's a really excellent number for just about any vehicle, but it's also a top-of-the-class mark for the Forester's small CUV division. Just about the only major gripe was that of ride quality.
Most of the direct competitors to the Forester have earned CR marks in the mid-70s. The Honda CR-V is some 11 points behind, for instance, while the Toyota RAV4 and the Mazda CX-5 earn scores of 75 and 74, respectively.
Subaru issues recall over cars that may start themselves
Fri, 08 Mar 2013Subaru has issued one of the strangest recalls we've come across in some time. As it turns out, certain Subaru models may randomly start their own engines. The issue is confined to select models equipped with an automatic or CVT and the company's optional Audiovox remote engine starter (RES) accessory. If the RES key fob is dropped, it could "randomly transmit an engine start request without pressing the button."
Vehicles affected include the 2010-2012 Legacy and Outback with an automatic or CVT, 2012-2013 Impreza with the CVT, and 2013 XV Crosstrek with CVT (shown), all equipped with the Audiovox RES accessory. Likewise, certain 2013 Legacy and Outbacks may have received replacement RES fobs that could be affected. All told, 47,419 vehicles are included in the recall.
Should one of these cars start on their own, Subaru says they will run up to 15 minutes, but the vehicle may also continue to start and stop until either the battery in the fob dies or the car runs out of fuel. Of course, if one of these cars is parked in an enclosed area, that means harmful gasses could build up, which could be dangerous if inhaled.
