2013 SUBARU WRX STI 485 HP STREET BEAST

Up for auction is a 2013 brand new condition, actually much better than brand new Subaru WRX STI.  I got the itch to own a tuner, and set out to find a STI in World Rally WR Blue, the classic Subaru factory rally color - no sunroof (real race cars don't have sunroofs!.  I found this car at Kohler Subaru, an authorized dealer, bought it brand new - and had it sent to ECS in Hartford Ct. for a full $17500 485 HP conversion.  This car was done with no expense spared, and all work was done a bone stock new car.  Injectors, cams, ceramic coated header, Invidia downpipe, Perrin full exhaust, Perrin manifold & intercooler, Garret Turbo, ACS street clutch, Cobb tune, fuel system, and more was done in one shot on a new car.  Take a look at the engine pic, I wanted the car to be reliable, and Original Equipment Manuctured looking OEM.

We also added the Vortex generator kit, Japan lower valance brake light (works on brake), and Japan black side badging.

I also ordered a set of rare and hard to get Advan RS 10 (19" X 9") gold wheels from Japan, they took 4 months to get, but worth the wait.  I rarely drive the car, and as you see in the pics, it is better than showroom condition because of the bolt on performance, and high level of detail work.  The only reason I am selling the car is because its a kids car, and I am going back to an M5.  I have $58,500 invested in this car, and will sell for a reasonable amount, but not giving it away.

The car only is driven at night, and is garage kept.  Buyers are welcome to visit, inspect, and ask questions - please call 201 747 0977 if your serious.

You will be blown away by how well put together, strong, and tight this car is.  The sounds it makes are incredible, its a very passionate automobile to drive.  Not many cars faster.

Good luck with your bid- this car deserves only someone who will cherish it.

Ever wonder how to really pronounce Japanese automaker names?

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

People tend to get very set in their ways when it comes to the pronunciation of words. Just look at the endless debates over whether or not to say the final 'e' in Porsche (which you should in terms of correct German enunciation). Or the argument about whether to follow the British convention and give the 'u' in Jaguar a special delivery or to say the 'ua' diphthong as more of a 'w' sound, as usually happens in the US.
This short video doesn't answer either of those automotive questions, but it does allow a native Japanese speaker to demonstrate the accepted pronunciations for several, major automakers from the country. One benefit is that it clears up the occasional debate over whether Nissan should be said with a long or short 'i' sound. Also, listen closely to how the female host says Mazda as Matsuda, the way it's actually said in the language. Even if this doesn't change the way you enunciate these brands, at least now you know the accurate way in Japanese.

Subaru issues recall over cars that may start themselves

Fri, 08 Mar 2013

Subaru has issued one of the strangest recalls we've come across in some time. As it turns out, certain Subaru models may randomly start their own engines. The issue is confined to select models equipped with an automatic or CVT and the company's optional Audiovox remote engine starter (RES) accessory. If the RES key fob is dropped, it could "randomly transmit an engine start request without pressing the button."
Vehicles affected include the 2010-2012 Legacy and Outback with an automatic or CVT, 2012-2013 Impreza with the CVT, and 2013 XV Crosstrek with CVT (shown), all equipped with the Audiovox RES accessory. Likewise, certain 2013 Legacy and Outbacks may have received replacement RES fobs that could be affected. All told, 47,419 vehicles are included in the recall.
Should one of these cars start on their own, Subaru says they will run up to 15 minutes, but the vehicle may also continue to start and stop until either the battery in the fob dies or the car runs out of fuel. Of course, if one of these cars is parked in an enclosed area, that means harmful gasses could build up, which could be dangerous if inhaled.

Consumer Reports says Toyota, Ford, Honda and Chevy are big winners in brand perception survey

Wed, 05 Feb 2014

According to Consumer Reports, the automotive brands that stand out in the minds of car buyers are, in order: Toyota, Ford, Honda and Chevrolet. This news comes after the magazine polled its readers, asking them to take into account vehicle quality, safety, performance, value, fuel economy, design/style, and technology/innovation - which are the factors that car shoppers are most influenced by.
It's important to note that this award is only about perception. In other words, it's perceived quality, not actual quality. "Often, perception can be a trailing indicator, reflecting years of good or bad performance in a category, and it can also be influenced by headlines in the media," said Jeff Bartlett, Consumer Reports deputy automotive editor.
The brand that made the biggest jump in perception amongst Consumer Reports readers is Tesla, which posted an impressive 47-point gain to finish in fifth place. Subaru is also notable for finishing in the top 10, despite being one of the smaller manufacturers doing business in the US. Scroll down below for all the details from Consumer Reports, if you're so inclined.
