BE SURE TO WATCH THE VIDEO OF THE SUBARU RUNNING.

IM SELLING MY 2002 SUBARU WRX.  THIS CAR HAS MANY UPGRADES WITH STI COMPONETS.  THIS IS MY PERSONAL CAR, IT IS INSURED AND REGISTERED IN MY NAME.  I HAVE A CLEAR TITLE IN HAND.

I PURCHASED THE CAR LAST SEPTEMBER. IT HAS BEEN A GOOD CAR AND HAVE ONLY HAD TO PERFORM REGULAR MAINTENANCE, OIL CHANGE, FLUIDS,ETC.  I BOUGHT THE CAR USED WITH ALL THE UPGRADES ON IT.  THE CAR ODOMETER SAYS IT HAS 70,100 MILES ON IT BUT I BELIEVE THATS INCORRECT. I AM SELLING IT AS TRUE MILEAGE UNKNOWN. THE ODOMETER WORKS, I JUST THINK IT HAS BEEN CHANGED AT SOME POINT IN THE CARS LIFE.  I BELIEVE THE CAR PROBABLY HAS 125-150K MILES ON IT FROM THE APPEARANCE OF THE EXTERIOR. THE CAR RUNS AND DRIVES GOOD, HOWEVER IT HAS A MOTOR ISSUE.  I HAD THE CAR UP FOR SALE ON CRAIGSLIST LAST WEEK AND SOMEONE CAME TO TEST DRIVE IT, I MESSED UP AND DIDNT GO WITH THEM AND TRUSTED THEM TO TAKE THE CAR ON A TEST DRIVE. WELL THEY BROUGHT IT BACK AND IT HAD DEVELOPED A BOTTOM END ROD KNOCK.  THEY MUST HAVE OVER REVVED THE ENGINE. I HAD MY MECHANIC LOOK AT IT AND PULL THE OIL PAN.  HE SAID IT IS THE #2 ROD BEARING THAT IS BAD.  YOU CAN STILL DRIVE IT AS IS BUT OVERTIME HE SAID IT WILL GET WORSE UNTIL FIXED PROPERLY.  WHEN THE MOTOR WARMS UP YOU CAN HEAR A SLIGHT ENGINE KNOCK, ITS NOT REALLY NOTICABLE UNLESS YOU REV IT UP REAL HIGH AND THEN LET OFF THE THROTTLE. YOU CANT HEAR IT JUST DRIVING NORMAL OR WHEN THE CAR IS IDLEING.   HERE IS SOME INFO ON THE CAR:

INTERIOR: THE INTERIOR IS CLEAN AND IN GOOD CONDITION. ALL THE POWER WINDOWS AND LOCKS WORK PROPERLY.  IT HAS TINTED WINDOWS. CD PLAYER. STEERING WHEEL IS WORN. SEATS ARE IN GOOD CONDITION WITH NO RIPS OR TEARS. SMOKE FREE CAR.

EXTERIOR: THE EXTERIOR IS A MIDNIGHT BLUE COLOR THAT LOOKS ALMOST BLACK.  IT HAS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR, ROCK CHIPS, DINGS,ETC FROM  BEING A USED CAR. I JUST HAD THE CAR OUT IN THE SNOW HERE SO IT IS A LITTLE DIRTY IN THE PICTURES.  THE WINDSHIELD HAS A CRACK THAT GOES ABOUT HALFWAY UP WINDSHIELD AS SHOWN IN PICTURES.

WHEELS/TIRES:  WHEELS AND TIRES ARE IN AVERAGE CONDITION.  WHEELS ARE FROM A 2006 WRX.

ELECTRICAL: ALL THE HEADLIGHTS AND TAIL LIGHTS WORK. RADIO, POWER WINDOWS, POWER LOCKS WORK CORRECTLY. CRUISE CONTROL WORKS.  THERE ARE NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS ON.  THE CAR PASSES EMMISIONS.

ENGINE: ENGINE RUNS GOOD.  IT HAS A PLENTY OF POWER. IT WILL NEED TO HAVE THE #2 BEARING REPLACED/REPAIRED AT SOME POINT. CLUTCH AND BRAKES ARE GOOD.

UPGRADES:  STI INTERCOOLER, HKS BLOW OFF VALVE, BIGGER TURBO, WASTEGATE, TURBO BOOST ADJUSTER, ECM TUNE, STI BOOST GUAGE, LOWERED SUSPENSION, DRILLED/SLOTTED ROTORS, FULL TURBO BACK EXHAUST, CAT DELETE PIPE WITH CAT PIPE INCLUDED FOR EMMISIONS, LIGHTWEIGHT HOOD.

TRANSMISSION: MANUAL TRANSMISSION SHIFTS SMOOTHLY THROUGH ALL GEARS.

CAR MUST BE PAID FOR IN FULL BEFORE IT CAN BE PICKED UP OR SHIPPED.  I ACCEPT CASH OR CASHIERS CHECK.  CASHIERS CHECK MUST CLEAR BANK BEFORE CAR CAN BE PICKED UP OR SHIPPED.

2015 Subaru Outback

Tue, 01 Jul 2014

"We like producing cars that are different." That's the company line trumpeted by several Subaru executives during the launch of the 2015 Outback - one of Fuji Heavy's most successful vehicles to date. Managing Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski accurately noted that while Subaru has never really found salvation with its mainstream sedans, it's the higher-riding, butcher offerings like the Outback and the Impreza-based XV Crosstrek that have been sales stars for the Japanese company. In 2013, for example, Subaru sold nearly three Outbacks for every Legacy it moved. And in 2014, the XV is on pace to outsell the Impreza upon which its based.
But Subarus have always been different, catering to unique customers that desire something a bit more special than your run-of-the-mill sedan or crossover. It's clearly worked, with Subaru having posted 30 months of year-over-year sales increases as of this writing. And even as the automaker's portfolio goes more mainstream, smoothing out its serially awkward styling and gunning for a larger market share here in the United States, that intrinsic Subaru differentiation is still baked in to each and every product.
It's that new Outback we're here to talk about today, a vehicle that's been comprehensively redesigned for the 2015 model year while not shaking up the formula that's made it successful since its inception in the mid-1990s, back when it (arguably) launched what we now know as the crossover utility vehicle segment. It's still plenty different - and plenty good, too.

Subaru uses a mime and a toy car to explain why it loves the boxer engine

Wed, 17 Apr 2013

I will freely admit to struggling with why Subaru continues to stubbornly employ a boxer engine design while so few other automakers do the same. After all, with twice the number of cylinder heads and cams as a traditional inline four-cylinder engine, a boxer four is more complex, more expensive to manufacture and more cumbersome to service with few tangible benefits. Until recently, the company's engines struggled to meet the fuel economy numbers of its competitors while offering no real boon in horsepower or torque. Subaru seems to recognize I'm not the only one scratching my head.
In order to help us non-believers understand what's what, the company has employed a pair of mimes, a toy car and a few clay engines to demonstrate the folly of every other automaker on the planet. Subaru says the boxer offers up a lower center of gravity than either an inline four-cylinder engine or a V6, which I will gladly concede. The company also says the design offers up smoother operation.
I'll offer just two counterpoints here. First, an engine with a low center of gravity is excellent, but when vehicles like the Forester, XV Crosstrek and Outback boast more ground clearance than most mainstream SUVs, that argument flies out the window. Second, anyone who's spent any amount of time behind the wheel of a vehicle equipped with an inline four and then proceeded to move into one propelled by a boxer can tell you the latter has all of the idling manners of a small tractor. Check out the video below to see for yourself.

2014 Subaru Forester priced from $21,995*

Fri, 18 Jan 2013

Subaru has officially announced that its all-new 2014 Forester will carry a base MSRP of $21,995 when it hits dealerships early this year, (*not including $895 in destination fees). This represents an increase of $700 over the outgoing 2013 model.
That new price will net buyers the base 2.5i model equipped with a six-speed manual transmission. Subaru will also sell the 2.5i engine in Premium, Limited and Touring trims, though the automaker has not released specific price points for those models. These models are powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 170 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque. Subaru says that with its standard all-wheel drive, the Forester 2.5i will be good for fuel economy numbers of 24/32 miles per gallon (city/highway) when equipped with the company's continuously variable transmission. Manual models see those numbers drop to 22/29 mpg.
The more powerful Forester 2.0XT will only be offered in Premium and Touring trims, starting at $27,995 (not including destination). These models are powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline four, sending 250 hp and 258 lb-ft to all four wheels. Fuel economy doesn't suffer terribly with this more powerful engine, as only the CVT is offered. Subaru quotes figures of 23/28 mpg here.
