1987 Suzuki Samurai Trail Slayer Buggy - Turn Key Custom 4x4 2.0l Rock Crawler on 2040-cars
Orem, Utah, United States
A customer named Terry McGinnis started this project in 2009. It was purchased from the previous owner for $400.00 after it had an engine fire. Terry decided to create the ultimate rock crawler. Receipts show that this 1987 “Sammy” has had about $20,000 worth of parts and labor not including the cost of the engine, transmission, seats and tires. The suspension is a Trail-Tough Trail Slayer Kit that was purchased from Low Range Off-Road. The power train has been enhanced with a 2.0L Suzuki Tracker fuel injected engine, 3 speed automatic transmission and a Low Range Built 6.5 Samurai transfer case with a Trail-Tough rear driveline disconnect. ARB Air Lockers, front and rear in Toyota Axles, finish out the drive train modification. The body has been fitted with a custom tube front clip, custom bolt in roll cage and PRP seats. Everything; roll cage, frame, front and rear axles, etc. have been fully powder coated in a chrome--like silver color. The modified body has been painted with a custom blue paint. Sadly, Terry died of colon cancer in 2010 and the project sat dormant, in a garage, until mid 2013 at which time his wife decided to sell it. Low Range Off-Road purchased the project to finish and sell. This is a Competition ready rig if thats what you want or it can just be your trail rig. Point it at any obstacle and you will not be disappointed. This is an awesome rig! Specs: 2.0L 1999 Tracker Engine (Base 127HP @ 6000 rpm) with OBD2 Connection. Some "small" print: This is not a street legal vehicle in the state of UTAH. I do not know if it would be legal in any other state. It does not have a title. It was never licensed in the state of UTAH. Options in UTAH are to licence it as an ATV/OHV or file a "Insufficient Evidence of Ownership" All invoices and receipts since purchase from wrecking yard in 2003 are in hand. PLEASE EMAIL WITH ANY QUESTIONS. |

Suzuki recalling 200K crossovers over airbag woes
Mon, 16 Sep 2013Suzuki may not be selling any new cars in the US anymore, but there are still plenty of them on American roads. Nearly 200,000 of those will need to be taken off said roads - for a little while, at least.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall for 2006-2011 Suzuki Grand Vitara SUVs and 2007-2011 SX4 crossovers due to a faulty airbag sensor. The issue apparently results from the front passenger-side floor mat causing the Occupant Classification System (OCS) sensor to malfunction over time, so whether there's a kid or an adult in the front seat, the airbag could deploy in the event of a crash.
As a result, Suzuki Motor of America is calling in 193,936 vehicles to replace the front passenger-seat cushion assembly. That's a whole lot of cars to recall, but it comes as no big surprise. Owners can expect to be notified in October. Full details in the recall announcement below.
Suzuki offers sneak peek at Authentics concept for Shanghai
Sun, 31 Mar 2013Suzuki has prepared the C-segment Authentics concept for the Shanghai Motor Show, a preview of a sedan that would slot into the fattest chunk of the market among China's car buyers. Suzuki hasn't given away much, saying only that it is "Sporty x Elegant" and that it's long and low and has a "rich and fine curved surface."
PaulTan.org says this is the trunked version of the SX4 crossover, and if that's the case then it would represent a new approach to the SX4 in the region, offering markedly different styling instead of being, literally, an SX4 with a trunk. We'll know more when the Shanghai show opens in a couple of weeks, for now there's a press release with a tad more info on Suzuki's plans just below.
2013 Suzuki SX4 gets new generation to carry on without us [w/video]
Wed, 06 Mar 2013Despite the fact that the coffin has been sealed on Suzuki's US automotive arm, the brand is carrying on elsewhere in the world. The first new product to spearhead the Japanese automaker's product offerings in Europe is this SX4 crossover, making its official debut here at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. You may remember the little SX4 as the cheapest all-wheel-drive car on sale in the US, packing cute styling and efficient, affordable packaging. And it doesn't appear that the formula has changed too much for this new generation, despite what we think are less attractive new duds derived from Suzuki's 2012 S Cross Concept.
The new SX4 is powered by a choice of two 1.6-liter engines - one diesel, one petrol - the former mated to a six-speed manual transmission while the latter uses a CVT with a "seven-speed manual mode" operated by steering wheel-mounted paddles. All-wheel drive remains intact on the SX4, now with four driver-selectable modes and the Allgrip name.
Suzuki is touting the SX4 as having the world's first double sliding glass sunroof, offering "the largest opening areas" in the segment. Overall, the updated interior looks nicely designed and quite functional, though not exactly a shining beacon of refinement.
