This Samurai has been my personal daily driver for the past six months and is well tested.  Rod's Auto Sales, also known as SamuraiSalvage, located in Marshalltown, IA is selling this reconditioned Samurai at auction.   (Google SamuraiSalvage to find our website).  (We offer the nation's largest collection of new and used Samurai, Sidekick and Tracker parts---call Rod at 641-751-2468 with questions).  The 1988.5 Samurai was the best and last tin top imported to the U.S. Updates included:  lower usable 5th gear ratio, larger radiator, outboard sway bar (making it more stable), improved leaf springs with teflon inserts (for a much better ride), improved interior, improved seats with 2" more leg room.  This Samurai has many new parts replaced by our shop, which include:  our 100 horse engine with newer Weber and Pacesetter header (approx. 30,000 on engine), new brakes, new wheel bearings, new exhaust system, new heavy duty clutch, rebuilt transmission and transfer case.   Very good interior.  Excellent dash with AM/FM radio. Digital clock.  Two  after market super-bright interior lights.  Everything works, including all lights, wipers, washer, etc... Heater works great and has new 195 degree thermostat.  Samurai has maximum sized 235x75R15 A/T tires without having a lift kit.  New 2" wheel spacers have been installed making a 4" wider stance, making it much more stable.  These can be removed if you do not want the tires sticking out of the flares.  It has a heavy duty Stow Master folding tow bar included.  This set-up is very easy to use and always there when you need it.  It has a rear tow bar with a new 2" receiver.  The Samurai can be flat towed with transmission in second gear and transfer case in neutral and the hubs in free position.  The new heavy duty, powder coated roof rack/basket will be sold as a $1200 option.  You will add this price to the selling price if you want the roof rack.  This Samurai has plenty of power to run 60-65 mph.  We can install optional equipment such as:  reduction transfer case gears, winch bumper/winch, lift kit, lockers, larger tires, etc. for extra $$.  This Samurai is also for sale on our lot and we reserve the right to end the auction early for a buy now sale.  Once the reserve is met, it will no longer be for sale outside of this auction, making it fair for all bidders.  We can provide reasonable transport quotes for delivery right to your driveway!  Call Rod at 641-751-2468 with any questions.  (We sell all new and used Samurai and Sidekick parts.  Google SamuraiSalvage for a complete inventory.)

Which automaker's 84-year-old CEO is making investors nervous?

Sun, 06 Jul 2014

We haven't heard much about Suzuki since it decided to leave the US market in 2012, but things are going well for the little automaker these days with the recent announcement of record annual profits. It would seem that investors should be ecstatic, but they are starting to question the man at the helm. Company president and chairman Osamu Suzuki is now 84 years old and is guaranteed at least one more year as the leader, but shareholders want to know who is taking his place when the inevitable happens.
We're not being ageist, here. As long as the Suzuki can run the company to the satisfaction of investors, he absolutely deserves the top spot. According to Bloomberg, the issue making shareholders so edgy is that the business doesn't have a transition plan in place. The president obviously isn't a young man, and folks are worried that if something happens suddenly, there could be chaos deciding a successor and a free-falling stock price.
Suzuki's tenure at the company is somewhat astounding. He married the granddaughter of the founder and took her name because the family had no male heirs. In world where many people hope to retire as soon as possible, he's worked for the same automaker for the last 50 years, including stints as company president from 1978 to 2000 and 2008 to the present. Investors aren't questioning the president's ability as a business leader; they just want a clearer understanding of the automaker's future direction.

Suzuki previews Crosshiker, X-Lander, Hustler ahead of Tokyo

Tue, 29 Oct 2013

With the Tokyo Motor Show looming on the horizon, Suzuki has revealed a trio of concept cars it will present at the expo.
First up is the Crosshiker concept, a compact crossover that looks good enough in metallic red, but in its essence reminds us of the oft-maligned X-90 convertible crossover coupe. Based on the G70/Regina concept, the Crosshiker packs a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine into a compact form that weighs just 1,785 pounds.
Next comes the X-Lander, which strikes us as a smaller take on the formula espoused by the Isuzu VX-02 or Land Rover DC100 Sport concepts. Unfortunately based on the Jimny, the white X-Lander incorporates a 1.3-liter engine with a robotized manual and four-wheel drive into a high-riding, chopped-windshield convertible sport-ute form.

Suzuki back in MotoGP for 2015

Tue, 18 Jun 2013

It had been planned for 2014 but it's going to be 2015 instead - that's when Suzuki returns to the manufacturer ranks of MotoGP after quitting the series at the end of 2011 because of The Great Recession. When Suzuki stopped after 37 continuous years of racing, it said it intended to return three years later and it has been in talks with MotoGP's rights holder, Dorna Sports, since last year. No doubt, though, that fan anticipation of the team's return outdoes any dismay at the delay. It will join Yamaha, Honda and Ducati in the premiere league.
Its bike has already been testing in Japan and was with the official MotoGP tribe in Barcelona, Spain on Monday when Suzuki announced its return. It's said the development bike is called the XRH-1, being ridden by official tester Randy de Puniet (who currently races in MotoGP on an Aprilia-based bike with TeamAspar). and after a day of testing de Puniet got the new Suzuki to within seven-tenths of a second of the top time posted by other MotoGP teams. Davide Brivio, who once ran the Fiat-Yamaha team and has been close with Valentino Rossi, will be the team manager.
Speaking of Rossi, The Doctor is back with Fiat-Yamaha after a bad run with Ducati but is only contracted to the end of 2014. Brivio is the man who got Rossi to join Fiat-Yamaha, then got him to Ducati. Until he took the head of Suzuki's works effort, Brivio was working with Rossi's VR46 management company, heading areas like merchandising. The rumormill has already begun its work, with folks wondering if Rossi will head to Suzuki in 2015 if his second stint at Yamaha doesn't prove fruitful before then. Scroll down below for the official press release from Suzuki.
