1988.5 Suzuki Samurai 4x4 Tin Top Roof Rack Suv Hunter's/sportsman's Special! on 2040-cars
Marshalltown, Iowa, United States
This Samurai has been my personal daily driver for the past six months and is well tested. Rod's Auto Sales, also known as SamuraiSalvage, located in Marshalltown, IA is selling this reconditioned Samurai at auction. (Google SamuraiSalvage to find our website). (We offer the nation's largest collection of new and used Samurai, Sidekick and Tracker parts---call Rod at 641-751-2468 with questions). The 1988.5 Samurai was the best and last tin top imported to the U.S. Updates included: lower usable 5th gear ratio, larger radiator, outboard sway bar (making it more stable), improved leaf springs with teflon inserts (for a much better ride), improved interior, improved seats with 2" more leg room. This Samurai has many new parts replaced by our shop, which include: our 100 horse engine with newer Weber and Pacesetter header (approx. 30,000 on engine), new brakes, new wheel bearings, new exhaust system, new heavy duty clutch, rebuilt transmission and transfer case. Very good interior. Excellent dash with AM/FM radio. Digital clock. Two after market super-bright interior lights. Everything works, including all lights, wipers, washer, etc... Heater works great and has new 195 degree thermostat. Samurai has the maximum sized 235x75R15 A/T tires that will fit without having a lift kit. New 2" wheel spacers have been installed making a 4" wider stance, making it much more stable. These tires do not need the spacers for clearance and they may be removed if you do not want the tires sticking out of the flares. It has a heavy duty Stow Master folding tow bar included (See in photos). This set-up is very easy to use and always there when you need it. It has a rear tow bar with a new 2" receiver. The Samurai can be flat towed with transmission in second gear and transfer case in neutral and the hubs in free position. (see photo of it being towed). The new heavy duty, powder coated roof rack/basket will be sold as a $1200 option. You will add this price to the selling price if you want the roof rack. This roof rack is heavy duty and ready to carry your trophy beast! (See our SamuraiSalvage Facebook page to see past customers with their custom built Samurais). This Samurai has our 1.3 Hi-Po engine, Weber carburetor, HD clutch kit and Pacesetter header with new exhaust. Price for this package alone is $3,000 plus $1,000 installation. Rebuilt transmission is $799. Rebuilt transfer case is $799, plus installation.New brakes, New wheel bearings. Transmission shift lever update. Transfer case shift lever update. Heavy duty steering stabilizer. All this is included in your winning bid. Please consider all of this when bidding or making offers. Reserve is very reasonable. I will do a buy now and end auction early if interested, then ship it to you ASAP. This Samurai has plenty of power to run 60-65 mph. We can install optional equipment such as: reduction transfer case gears, winch bumper/winch, lift kit, lockers, larger tires, etc. for extra $$. This Samurai is also for sale on our lot and we reserve the right to end the auction early for a buy now sale. Once the reserve is met, it will no longer be for sale outside of this auction, making it fair for all bidders. We can provide reasonable transport quotes for delivery right to your driveway! Call Rod at 641-751-2468 with any questions. (We sell all new and used Samurai and Sidekick parts. Google SamuraiSalvage for a complete inventory.) The Samurai is the only street legal SUV that is narrow and light enough to be registered for Iowa and other states DNR rules. Suzuki brings slew of car and bike concepts to Tokyo
Fri, 22 Nov 2013As an automaker, Suzuki may be long gone from American shores, but it's still a force to be reckoned with in its home country of Japan. At this week's Tokyo Motor Show, the brand known as much for its two-wheeled fare as its four displayed a slew concept vehicles for both drivers and riders.
The first is the Crosshiker concept (above), which Suzuki says is a followup to the Regina concept that debuted two years ago at the Tokyo show. Based on the same platform but elevated to the stance of a crossover, the Crosshiker is motivated by a 1.0-liter, three-cylinder engine, keeping it eco-chic while appealing to adventurous types with its fun styling.
Next up is the X-Lander Concept (above, left) that Suzuki says was made for use in the city and "sometimes go out to play in the field." Based on the Japanese-market production Jimny, the X-Lander features four-wheel drive and a hybrid powertrain with a 1.3-liter engine.
American Suzuki gets $100M in financing to go out of business... buy more cars?
Fri, 07 Dec 2012American Suzuki Motor Corporation (ASMC), which declared bankruptcy in early November, has been approved by the courts for up to $100 million in debtor-in-possession financing to enable it to shutter its US car business. ASMC had received a $45 million loan from the Japanese parent company, Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC), last month in order to make repayment deals with its franchise dealers. At the same time, ASMC was awaiting final court approval of this larger loan.
Out of the newly approved funds, $50 million can be used for operations, and oddly, the other $50 million can be put toward purchases of new inventory from SMC. That's right, even as existing inventory was headed for a smooth exit with the help of incentives, customer demand for orphan Suzuki models is so strong - last month's sales were up 22 percent compared to 2011 - that ASMC plans to purchase 2,500 additional cars from SMC that were built after the bankruptcy announcement. Good news for the owners of those vehicles: the top 50 dealers, representing more than 98 percent of ASMC sales, will become parts and services centers.
The press release below has more information. Unlike its recent tenure here, the end of Suzuki cars in the US looks like it's going rather well.
Suzuki Samurai lives on with new Jimny facelift
Thu, 15 Nov 2012The Suzuki Jimny is "sold across 188 global markets," but one of them isn't ours. For UK buyers who can buy a Jimny in SZ3 or SZ4 trims, the 2013 model has just been introduced with tweaks peppered throughout the vehicle. First among them is a soft redesign up front, a new bumper, grille and hood updating the face and adding an extra 30 mm to the length of the little SUV. Breeze Blue metallic paint is a new hue but it's only available on the more expensive SZ4.
Inside, customers will find new headrests and ISOFIX child seat fasteners for both Jimny versions, and for the SZ3, new seat fabrics. The 1.3-liter engine with variable valve timing growls out 84 horsepower and 81 pound-feet of torque, returning 39.8 Imperial combined mpg if fitted with a manual, 38.7 Imperial mpg combined in the automatic.
On-the-road prices are £11,995 ($19,016 US) for the SZ3, £12,900 ($20,451 US) for the manual-equipped SZ4, £13,800 ($21,877 US) with the automatic. More information can be found in the press release below.
