Suzuki Samarai 1986 Tin Top Clean Car on 2040-cars

Year:1986 Mileage:300000
Location:

Signal Mountain, Tennessee, United States

Signal Mountain, Tennessee, United States

Purchased from Extreme Zuks in Florida for $6700, and have installed high torque engine by Extreme Zuks Off Road $2400.  (1.3 Flat top pistons, .040 over, new Weber Carb, new rebuilt transmission, new clutch, new front end seals in the bearings and new bearings in the rear axles,-the car is driven by my son and we live on a mountain and we wanted higher torque and hp for driving up and down Signal Mountain TN).   Installed uphostered seats that are covered in nice black cloth(seat covers have been on since we did the seats) recovered and installed rear seat. New Carpet/ Paint is less than a year old. Installed custom headliner with insulation to reduce heat in the summer, this really looks good in a tin top. Has the customer shifter knobs on both shifters  from Low Range Off-Road.  Window cranks, door glass rubbers, and inside and outside handles are new. Installed the windshield wiper blade support plates as a preventative measure since these are a stress point, while doing that we installed a new wiper motor behind the dash and insulated and re-taped to factory specs all the AC hoses and connecting pipes inside the dash. New Radiator and Hoses. Heater works great(Heater Core and Dash removed and cleaned, all dash lights work and tac works great from Extreme Zuks Off road. Exhaust Header from Extreme Zuks.  Samurai has a great sound system by Pioneer that has 6 speakers and is wired for and additional amp/subs for the back, the sound system sounds great.  Installed factory AC on this car and it works great, blows very cold air and we live where it gets near 100 in the summer and it provides good AC.  Rims have just been powder coated white to original color.  New Hankook Optimo tires with less than 1000 miles on them. New brakes and rotors have less than 2000 miles on front and back.   He has recently gone to college and has put most of his money into another daily driver Sammy and needs the money.  This will be a great vehicle for some lucky person, its eye appeal is unmatched.  This car has 2 defects that have not been fixed, there is a small dash crack above the digital clock installed in the dash, and there is a slight and I mean slight leak on the rear transfer case back seal, I have only added about a half a pint in the last year it was ran and I have the seal I have just not replaced it as it has not been an issue.  I have always used 50/50 Lucas Oil additive and differential lube in the transmission, transfer case, and front and rear differentials/pumpkin, and have changed this every 6 months since we had the car, change oil one a month, I do this on all 3 of my Samarai's I have had.

This will be a great vehicle for some lucky person, its eye appeal is unmatched, it would make for a great car for a daily driver, it gets about 25-32 miles per gallon and has passed all emissions testing in TN which is a tough place to pass.  New Catalytic converter and exhaust system with muffler installed also.

Suzuki testing Grand Vitara replacement that is now forbidden fruit

Sun, 02 Feb 2014

Suzuki might be dead in the US, but its cars are still thriving in many other markets. Aside from the updated SX4 and a slew of promising concepts at the Tokyo Motor Show, Suzuki is getting ready to launch a much-needed replacement for the aged Grand Vitara, and our spy photographers recently caught the compact SUV testing in Sweden.
Judging by these spy shots, the replacement for the current Grand Vitara - it may or may not retain the Grand Vitara name - will take its styling cues from the Suzuki iV-4 Concept displayed at last year's Frankfurt Motor Show. These cues include the narrow, angular headlights, the sloped D-pillars and we even get a hint of the sculpted rear-wheel arches. We hear that the new Suzuki SUV could go on sale in Europe next year, so we'd expect it to debut later in 2014.

Suzuki calls in 26,000 Daewoo-built Veronas for overheating lights

Wed, 30 Jul 2014

Suzuki is recalling yet another Daewoo-built model due to possible problems with the daytime running light module in the instrument panel. This time it covers about 25,899 units of the Suzuki Verona from the 2004 through 2006 model years that need fixing. Like the repair campaign of the Forenza and Reno in May, it's possible for the part to overheat, melt and potentially cause a fire.
According to the Chronology of Principal Events section in the defect notice submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, this recall was actually a direct result of the Forenza/Reno campaign. After finding the problem in those vehicles, General Motors Korea started investigating for more affected models and discovered that the Verona was also at risk. However, the report says that no cases of melting or fires have been found in the Verona.
Obviously, Suzuki will be notifying affected owners and will replace the DRL module free of charge. Scroll down to read the recall request or check out the full defect notice in PDF format, here.

Four seniors to drive around world in pair of Suzuki Jimny SUVs for charity

Fri, 29 Mar 2013

Plenty of us here at Autoblog have designs for epic drives. Whether it's bouncing around the country in an old International or heading from Alaska to Chile on a bike, we like to think we have big aspirations. Or at least we did until we heard about these four gentlemen. You see, Leslie George Carvall, Alan Butler, Glyn Maher and Charles Scott are all in their 70's, and they plan to pile into a pair of Suzuki Jimny SUVs and drive around the world. Sort of makes a hike across country seem like a trip down the block to the local corner store. They're calling it "The Ultimate Challenge," and they plan to undertake the journey for two reasons.
First, they want to prove that age shouldn't stand in the way of people doing what they want to do. Second, the group hopes to raise funds for the 'Heaven Can Wait I'm Busy' group, which aims to direct money toward worthy charities both in the UK and around the world. Save the Children and Oakhaven Hospice are the two currently designated charities.
The trip gets started in just three days, and you can head over to the effort's site to track their progress. The route should cover some 16,500 road miles and 10,375 sea miles. You can also catch up with the project on Facebook.
