Susanville, California, United States
Fuel Type:Diesel
Engine:1.9 vw td (aaz)
Drive Type: 5 speed
Make: Toyota
Mileage: 0
Model: 4Runner
Trim: SR5
For sale is my 1987 Toyota 4runner with a complete vw (aaz) 1.9 turbo diesel conversion and California rust free. Original red interior but I was in the process of switching to gray and as you can see I have most of the gray interior and it will go with it. The runner will also come with a 4inch lift to install later if you want, extra top, extra hood, extra grill, and a/c parts. The runner is a daily driver starts right and get about 25 miles to the gallon and is registered. New timing belt installed recently along with a K/N air intake. The oil pressure drops a bit at running temp because it needs new intermediate shaft bearings replaced a $35 dollar part. I would not drive it far until bearings are replaced to be safe but you decide. The hardest part is done, the conversion is complete, except a/c I didn't need it up here in the cool weather. The engine and trans alone could go for $3000 and the conversion kit cost about $500. Only selling this so I could pay for my next project. Again the power train conversion is complete and 4X4 works great, I just didn't finish the interior color change to gray and the existing interior isn't the best. Willing to help ship if needed at buyers expense.

Toyota donates engineers, not money, to country's largest anti-hunger charity
Thu, 01 Aug 2013Key to production of any kind is efficiency - the ability to achieve maximum productivity with minimal effort or waste. Toyota has become a master of efficiency, with streamlined manufacturing operations around the world. In fact, the Japanese brand has become so well known for efficient operations that it now offers consulting services for organizations and companies outside the auto industry.
It also offers the same consulting for non-profits, free of charge. The New York Times took an in-depth look at the transformative impact that Toyota's engineers had on the city's charities, including The Food Bank, the country's largest anti-hunger charity. The auto manufacturer helped revolutionize the way these organizations served the community, showing that there's more to corporate philanthropy than just donating money.
Head on over to the Times' website and give the story a read.
First Toyota unintended acceleration case headed for trial
Mon, 22 Jul 2013Toyota is going to be back in the spotlight, as the first of its unintended acceleration lawsuits is headed for trial. This case covers a Los Angeles sushi shop owner, Noriko Uno. According to the what the family told The Detroit News, Uno only put about 10,000 miles on her 2006 Toyota Camry in four years. Uno was apparently afraid of high speeds, avoiding the freeway and taking a route home along LA's surface streets to avoid them.
On August 28, 2009, Uno's Camry suddenly accelerated to 100 miles per hour, eventually striking a telephone poll and a tree and killing her. The family contends that Uno attempted to step on the brakes and pull the emergency brake, neither of which brought her speed under control, while Toyota maintains that improperly installed floormats and driver error have been behind the majority of the 80 cases expected to be heard in court.
In Uno's case, The Detroit News is expecting the trial to focus on the lack of an override if the gas and brake pedals were pressed at the same time. Brake overrides were installed on Toyota's European fleet. The Uno family attorney will need to prove to the jury that it wasn't driver error that killed Noriko Uno.
VW is world's second-best-selling automaker, GM falls to third
Thu, 30 Jan 2014Every year when we start talking about which automaker is the biggest in the world, there always seems to be at least a little bit of controversy. For 2013, Toyota handily took the top spot with 9.98 million sales, but it's the runner up spot between General Motors and Volkswagen that is starting to create a stir.
Based on our earlier report, GM's 9.71 million vehicles put it in second place ahead of VW's 9.5-million-vehicle effort. Now, The Detroit News is reporting that VW is claiming a tally of 9.73 million sales, including figures from MAN and Scania - heavy-duty truck divisions under the VW AG family. The article points out that Toyota's sales figure includes its Hino line of trucks, but these might still be considered light-duty vehicles while MAN and Scania build tractor trailers.
