Amazing car, superbly maintained for last 7 yrs by me, the 3rd owner. Was a southern car for almost 3 yrs, no rust, no leaks, newer brakes, newer tires (2 new 12/2013), recent timing belt & water pump replacement, two new o2 sensors. Drives like a car less than half its age and miles. V6, Auto, Leather seats (no rips), power seats, power windows, HEATED seats, power tilt & sliding Moon Roof, AC cold, everything works (except 2 small dash bulbs! Clean, clean car and smoke-free. And great mpg... 22 around town, 29 on highway. Regular gas. The only negatives are obvious: car looks great from 5' but there are some tiny rock chips on the hood, paint looks its age, one small dent (dimple) above tail light to right of trunk lid (I did it with my hand accidentally), leather seats show wear, alloy wheels show road rash from the Michigan winters but these are all minor considering the overall condition. Perfect winter car, or for student. AutoCheck available. This Avalon has the rare bench seat in front. This was the last year this was available in the Avalon. These were virtually impossible to find, because it is a true 6 passenger sedan (seat belts for all passengers). The Avalon is powered by a 3.0L V6 engine which produces 200 hp and 214 lb-ft of torque. Despite the size of the Avalon, it is rated at an impressive 21 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. $100 non-refundable deposit within 24 hours, balance due within 3 days by certified check. Car in as-is condition, no warranties or guarantees given... as always, all sales are final.

This first-gen Toyota Celica is one mean mother

Tue, 09 Jul 2013

Brian Karasawa's gen-one Toyota Celica is, in a word, badass. As a long-standing fan of the marque, the doting owner has tried to both restore and improve his Celica keeping period-correct modifications in mind. The 20R/22R mashup engine is outputting roughly 185 horsepower and graced with a lot of JDM-specific parts and modifications. Clearly, the exhaust has been upgraded from stock, as clips of the orange Toyota in motion are accompanied by one hell of a nice sound.
Tastes clearly vary, and there's not as much love for the first-wave of Japanese metal as there is for similar era American-iron, but we're pleased to see these cars finally getting more time in the spotlight. Scroll down below to see why we're stoked, and consider cruising your local Craigslist for late 1970s and early 1980s Japanese coolness (before we get there first).

Toyota to sell hot-pink Crown in Japan

Sun, 11 Aug 2013

Akio Toyoda is doing a pretty decent job at the helm of the Toyota empire. This is the man, after all, that declared that Toyota would get new sports cars, and that they needed to be, not should be, rear-wheel drive. We can respect that. Toyoda is also trying to do away with his company's conservative styling and bring edgier vehicles to market.
Toyota's designers have done just that, although perhaps they went a bit too far. In November, Toyota debuted its fourteenth-generation Crown with a bling-bling fascia that makes Lexus' spindle grille look as conservative as a three-piece suit, and a retina-searing pink paintjob. See, in Japan, the Crown is to Japan's older crowd what the 2002 Buick Park Avenue is to America's senior citizens. As Automotive News reports, the idea with the pink was to draw attention to the grille, but it was originally intended as a debut item, only.
Now, Toyota is actually planning to offer the electric fuchsia Crown for sale to regular buyers. Interested parties will have from September 1st to September 30th to place an order for the big sedan. According to the AN report, Toyoda said to reporters at the debut, "My initial reaction was: 'You're kidding! Please, not pink." We wish they were kidding.

Four Wheeler crowns Ultimate Factory 4x4... who wins?

Thu, 15 Nov 2012

Nearly every automaker doing business in the SUV or pickup truck segments offers a package designed to improve the off-road capabilities of its wares. But, of course, not all such factory kits are created equal. How, then, to separate the wheat from the chaff? Gather each of them up and put them through their paces, naturally.
The folks from Four Wheeler and PickupTrucks.com joined forces to run just such a comparison test, with the winner named the Ultimate Factory 4x4. A total of seven vehicles showed up to the fight: the 2012 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor, 2013 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, 2012 Nissan Frontier PRO-4X and Xterra PRO-4X, 2012 Ram Power Wagon, and 2012 Toyota 4Runner Trail and Tacoma TRD T|X Baja Series.
With the contestants in place, the whole crew put each vehicle through a battery of tests that included skidpad and acceleration measurements, a hillclimb, a rocky stairstep course and a rock garden. Considering the nature of the beasts, on-road ride and comfort were not part of the routine.
