Mechanically quite good for its age. Recent work includes water pump/timing belt, alternator, exhaust work, and some brake work. Starts and runs great. Transmission shifts smoothly through all gears. All work within 5,000-10,000 miles of each other at local shop. Receipts records kept as well. What it needs: e-brake doesn't hold, new battery (holds charge, but slow crank in the cold), tires have only 20% tread life left, and ABS light is on. Car was driven by my sister to and from college (15 miles round trip). Never let her down. She has since graduated and it's been sitting in our driveway since. Cosmetically ruff around the edges. Passenger side has some bumps and bruises that you can see from pictures. Hub caps missing. Under body/frame rust free as seen from pictures. Interior clean for the cars age. Non smoker. Power options all work. Mirrors, windows, door locks. No rips or tears. Aftermarket radio. Given the age of the car I encourage interested buyers to come look at the vehicle. It is currently not registered or insured. I do not have time to ship or aid with shipping so local pick up is a must or have a shipping company that will take care it for you. 2014 Toyota Tundra to debut at Chicago Auto Show
Thu, 24 Jan 2013The fullsize pickup market is dominated by trucks from Ford, General Motors and Ram, but this segment could get some hefty competition in coming years. We've already reported that Nissan is planning a redesign of its Titan truck for 2015, and now Toyota has announced that it will be revealing the 2014 Tundra next month at the Chicago Auto Show.
In the brief press release posted below, Toyota says that the 2014 Tundra will be "redesigned," but it's unclear as to whether this means we'll be seeing an all-new truck or just an extensive refresh. The current Tundra design has been around since 2007 and sales are hardly worrisome to the Big Three, so a new design would be a logical guess.
In any case, we only have to wait a couple more weeks for the new Tundra to debut on February 7, and we'll be on hand to bring you plenty of live coverage from the show.
Unifor may establish local union for Toyota's Canadian plants
Thu, 17 Jul 2014Union tactics apparently translate across borders, as Canada's Unifor may take inspiration from the United Auto Workers' recent move at the Volkswagen factory in Chattanooga, TN, and establish a local for the Toyota factories in Cambridge and Woodstock.
Unifor last attempted to organize the workers at the two factories, which are responsible for production of the Toyota Corolla (above), RAV4 and Lexus RX back in April, but that vote was eventually delayed. According to that report, 3,000 of the two plants' 7,500 employees signed union cards, but that apparently wasn't enough for Unifor to force a vote.
Because of this, the union is looking at the local approach, like what the UAW is attempting with VW.
Finalists for 2014 Green Car of the Year announced
Thu, 17 Oct 2013The list of finalists for the 2014 Green Car of the Year has been announced, and in a genuinely bizarre twist, there's only one hybrid and no electric vehicles among the five contestants, despite the arrival of cars like the BMW i3 and Tesla Model S. Taking the place of the EVs are a pair of diesels, repping a technology that last won a Green Car of the Year award in 2009, when the Audi A3 TDI took the title. No diesel was in the running for last year's award.
Naturally, both of the diesel finalists are fielded by the Germans - with BMW's 328d and Audi's A6 TDI getting the nod. In the case of the 3 Series, BMW installed a 2.0-liter, turbodiesel, capable of delivering 180 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, while returning 45 miles per gallon on the highway. Audi and its larger, 3.0-liter, V6 turbodiesel produce quite a bit more grunt, with 240 hp and 428 lb-ft of grunt, but net a very impressive 38 mpg on the highway in the A6.
Finalists for this year's awards include two diesels, three gas-powered cars and a plug-in hybrid.
