We at Campbell Brothers Auto Sales Inc. are offering for sale this CLEAN CARFAX, NON-SMOKER, 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID 4 DOOR with a 2.4L HYBRID ELECTRIC 4 CYLINDER ENGINE and AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. This vehicle was a local trade-in and has been very well cared for and exceptionally well maintained. I sold this car to the previous owners on 01/05/09 when at the time it had 38,262 miles on it. At that time it was a one owner in flawless condition. Since the second owners have processed the vehicle it has had nothing less than great care. How can we be so sure? Because not only are the previous owners great customers they are also my neighbors, and I have seen them take good care of everything they own for the past 26 years. The car now has 146,366 miles on it. therefore it is no longer flawless but never the less still a good looking, VERY clean car. The exterior looks nice and has no major dents or scratches. There are no sighs of previous paint or body work and it comes with a clean Carfax History report. Connie (previous owner) recently hit some type of small animal which resulted in some small dents and scratches on the right quarter panel (all seen in pictures). Legal approach in $1.2 billion Toyota settlement could impact handling of GM recall cases
Wed, 26 Mar 2014In the past, if an automaker did something wrong, they were usually prosecuted by the US government through something called the TREAD Act. Short for Transportation Recall Enhancement, Accountability and Documentation Act, it basically requires automakers to report recalls in other countries, along with any and all serious injuries or deaths, to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Failing to report or attempting to conceal anything when there's been a death or serious injury constitutes a criminal liability. The idea is that this setup puts the onus on manufacturers to keep NHTSA apprised of safety related issues before they become a problem in the US, thereby allowing the regulator to better protect consumers.
In theory, it sounds like a relatively airtight set of rules for dealing with misbehaving automakers. That didn't stop the US Department of Justice from ignoring TREAD in its prosecution of Toyota's handling of the unintended acceleration recall, though. The result of this new approach, which charged Toyota with wire fraud, was a $1.2 billion settlement. Now, the wire-fraud approach could be used for the expected case between the US government and General Motors, based on the statements of Attorney General Eric Holder, who specifically mentioned "similarly situated companies" when discussing Toyota.

My toaster broke the other week. Halfway through the process of cooking my gourmet Pop-Tart breakfast, the thing crapped out with a small bang, leaving my delicious morning treats trapped inside. To rectify the situation, I ventured out to a big box store, located the toaster aisle, and ran a couple of questions through my mind. Do I need two slots or four? Do I need to spend more than 20 bucks on this thing? Should I just buy a toaster oven to give me a wider range of bachelor-pad cooking functionality? After no more than two minutes of contemplation, I grabbed the cheapest one on the shelf, paid and left the store. The new toaster works just fine.
This sort of unemotional shopping experience is how I suspect people decide to purchase the Toyota Corolla. It's a perfectly fine appliance, and to a good number of people in the world, the bond between a car and a driver is no more important than the connection I feel to my toaster. Does it seat four people relatively comfortably? Does it get decent fuel economy? Is it easy to drive? Reliable? Safe? The Corolla checks all of these boxes, and because of that, Toyota managed to move just under 300,000 examples of the tenth-generation car in 2012 (though that number does include sales of the Corolla-based, now-deceased Matrix) - a vehicle that, at the time, was already six years old.
