A classic 1976 Toyota Celica GT 5-speed liftback. This car is being sold “as is”.I have owned this car since 1999. I had it professionally painted (pale yellow) and the upholstery/carpeting/headliner redone in 2001. I have put less than 15K miles on it in the 14 1/2 years that I have owned it. The car has always been garaged and the paint and upholstery are still in excellent condition. It has what appears to be the original “bullet proof” 20R engine and it still runs strong; has the original Toyota stock wheels. The car is in driveable condition. It had A/C at one time before I owned it but is missing some components and I never had it rebuilt since it was not a daily driver for me. This car has been in the south since I have owned it and the previous owner was from Texas. The body is in super nice condition with no rust issues which is very hard to find in this model. There is no radio. The dash has the usual cracks but I had a dash cover made for it when the interior was done. The odometer shows 16,500 + miles but since it only goes to 99,999 I do not know the actual mileage. This model was the 1976 Motor Trend Import Car of the Year. With its classic sporty lines it still turns a lot of heads and there are very few of these left on the road.

eBay Find of the Day: Back To The Future Marty McFly 1985 Toyota SR5 pickup tribute
Mon, 05 Aug 2013With DeLorean time machine replicas thick on the ground, it was only a matter of time before someone started recreating the other vehicles in the McFly garage. At the end of the first Back to the Future movie, Marty returns to 1985 to find his sweet-looking Toyota SR5 truck all waxed and ready for his date. That truck always did look great in the movie, and now's your chance to own this close facsimile.
This Back to the Future replica Toyota is on eBay with a price of $14,500, which the seller claims is half of what's been invested. Perhaps that's true, but it's still a nearly 30-year-old truck that's covered 280,000 miles. The seller does say the 22RE engine has been recently rebuilt, along with the rest of the drivetrain, and there's new paint, too. The attention to detail is admirable, and if you've always admired Marty's '80s-chic 4x4, now's your chance to own it.
Toyota reaches $1.2B unintended acceleration settlement in criminal probe
Wed, 19 Mar 2014UPDATE: Just like that, Toyota has released an official statement confirming its $1.2-million dollar settlement with the US Attorney's Office. Our story has been updated to reflect this development and the automaker's official statement has been added below.
Toyota has reached a settlement over the criminal probe into its unintended acceleration problems, and the outcome is more expensive than first expected. The Japanese automaker has agreed to pay $1.2 billion to close the investigation among other settlement terms. The criminal inquiry focused on whether the company kept information from regulators and how it handled drivers' complaints about the problems, according to the sources.
Between 2009 and 2010, Toyota ended up recalling over 10 million vehicles worldwide over sudden acceleration fears. Fixes include modifying floor mats, gas pedals, and installing brake override software on affected models. In addition, Toyota made the latter standard on all of its new vehicles.
Two new RWD Toyota sports cars to join FR-S?
Fri, 09 Aug 2013Toyota as we know it could become a thing of the past. According to Australian site Car Advice, the Japanese brand known for bland cruisers like the Camry and Corolla is preparing to bring two new rear-drive cars to market that would slot above and below the Scion-badged FR-S. This is very, very good news.
Car Advice spoke to the GT86/FR-S' chief engineer, Tatsuya Tada, who claimed, "Akio Toyoda always says to me, Toyota sports car [family] should be three sports car brothers. 86 is in the middle." The oldest "brother" would be the spiritual successor to the Supra, even if it doesn't wear that name. Tada is in charge of that project, while a sub-GT86 project is being headed-up elsewhere.
Tada refused to comment on names (CA specifically mentions MR2 and Celica) for the new small car, but did say that, "Yes it is rear-wheel drive and that's Toyota's strong position - Toyota sports car must be rear-wheel drive." Perhaps the juiciest bit of information obtained from Tada's interview with Car Advice was his hinting that both new sports cars would be joint ventures, like the GT86/FR-S/Subaru BRZ triplets. Tada wouldn't say who Toyota was in bed with on the smaller model, but did mention that the Supra would be a product of the world's largest automaker's partnership with BMW.
