This 1977 Toyota Celica Gt Coupe is equipped with the original 2.2 Liter 20R Engine, 5 spd manual Transmission and cold A/C. It has 91,000 original miles. The engine has been professionally rebuilt to include: New Head, Pistons, Bearings, Camshaft, Gaskets, Water Pump, Thermostat, Weber Carburetor, Electronic Ignition, Plugs, Wires, Belts and Hoses. The Exhaust is new from Header to Tailpipe. The car shows well and draws a ton of attention but is not a highly restored vehicle. It was redone some time ago and there are areas where the body filler is popping and some rust is surfacing. The Paint is decent and shines well enough for local car show standards. The Interior presents itself very well espeicially for a 36 year old vehicle. The Seats were recovered at some point in time and still look new. The car runs and drives great and has a C.D. Player, newer Tires and Alloy Wheels. I will include a second set of Wheels (80's style Polished Supra) for the right price. These Celicas are very hard to come by. I have seen total projects completely disassembled trading from $3,000 to $4,000 just to keep things in perspective. Please feel free to contact me directly @ 772-349-0090 for additional info.

Toyota, Honda, Nissan and more collaborating to increase fuel efficiency

Sun, 25 May 2014

Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Subaru, Mitsubishi, Suzuki and Daihatsu have announced an alliance that will see a push to improve fuel economy from both gas-powered and diesel-powered engines by as much as 30 percent before the end of the decade.
The newly assembled Research Association of Automotive Internal Combustion Engines put the roughly $20-million project together, with the Japanese government committing to half the cost while the eight manufacturers will chip in the rest.
According to Automotive News, the automakers will team up and share basic research on internal-combustion engines in a bid to cut costs. Eventually, the results of the research will find its way into a production vehicle, although it's unclear just when we'll see the fruits of this partnership on the road.

DoJ fines Japanese parts firms $740M in massive automotive price-fixing scandal

Fri, 27 Sep 2013

Nine Japanese suppliers have pleaded guilty in US court over charges of price fixing in the automotive parts industry, resulting in the Department of Justice doling out a total of $740 million of fines, according to a report from Bloomberg. The scandal, which has resulted in General Motors, Ford, Toyota and Chrysler spending up to $5 billion on inflated parts and driving up prices on 25 million vehicles has sent the DoJ hustling into investigations. "The conduct this investigation uncovered involved more than a dozen separate conspiracies aimed at the U.S. economy," Attorney General Eric Holder (pictured above) said during yesterday's press conference.
As the investigation stands, the DoJ has issued $1.6 billion in fines against 20 companies and 21 individual executives, with 17 of the execs headed to prison. Deputy Assistant Attorney General Scott Hammond said, "The breadth of the conspiracies brought to light today are as egregious as they are pervasive. They involve more than a dozen separate conspiracies operating independently but all sharing in common that they targeted US automotive manufacturers."
Big-name suppliers indicted in the investigation include Mitsubishi Electric, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Hitachi Automotive and Mitsuba Corporation. A list of fines and other corporations named in the investigation is available at Bloomberg.

Popular Science has named the winners in its Best of What's New awards, the victors coming in the categories of aerospace, automotive, engineering, entertainment, gadgets, green, hardware, health, home, recreation, security and software. The automotive category did not go wanting for lauded advancements:
Tesla Model S: the Grand Award winner for being "the standard by which all future electric vehicles will be measured."
BMW 328i: it's 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gets called out for being more powerful and frugal than the six-cylinder it replaces.
