Marlboro, New York, United States

the time has come to sell my 1979 ke30. I purchased the car from 2nd owner 8 years ago. then it had only 24,500 miles. it was and is always garage kept out of the elements. this car is in original condition. it has never been restored. all paint is original except for the 2 front fenders. the previous owner replaced them due to rust in the early 1990's. therefore the paint on the fenders is not a perfect match. the body is in beautiful shape for being 35 years old with some very minor door dings on both doors. they don't show up well in pictures. the car currently has triple chrome plated OEM JDM bumpers. they also have OEM brackets and OEM lights. these are very rare and hard to get. the interior I would call a 9.8 out of 10. it has a 1/2 tear on side of drivers seat. otherwise I would call it excellent. no cracks in original dash pad, no faded or broken plastics, all original and crystal clear glass. everything works as it should on the car. I do have the heater core bypassed. so it does not blow hot air. it never leaked, it worked fine. I did this because when I had the radiator re-cored I didn't want to chance cracking the dash pad or disturbing it to have the heater core done too. I only use it in the summer anyway. it could easily be hooked up but I would strongly recommend having it replaced or re-cored for peace of mind. the car starts and drives and stops flawlessly with no issues no squeaks,no rattles,no shakes,no smoke. it has a factory manual choke.  I have and will drive this car anywhere without second guessing it. it still gets 36mpg hwy. along with sale of car I will include the original bumpers, steering wheel, shift knob, steel wheels with new white walls and all extra parts I have for it. 2 brand new fenders, boxes of brand new oem air/oil/gas filters. so extra consideration on your part to have these picked up or shipped with vehicle.  I require vehicle to be paid for in full and picked up no later than 3 calendar days after auction ends. I will not assist in shipping. the closest airport to me is stewart international. car is for sale locally so I may end auction early. vehicle will not leave my property until all funds are cleared and verified.

Toyota gives dealers permission to drop Scion, shows them FR-S droptop, Juke rival first

Mon, 19 Aug 2013

We recently heard that Toyota could be looking to shrink its network of Scion dealerships, and now Automotive News is reporting that the automaker has officially given its dealers the green light to dump Scion without any penalties. Currently, Scion has about 1,000 dealers, yet our report from August 8 quotes an industry analyst as suggesting a healthier figure would be between 350 and 500 outlets. But before its current dealers make a decision on whether or not to get rid of the youth-oriented brand, Toyota also showed off a couple potential future products in the pipeline.
The FT-86 Open Concept shown above was revealed back in March at the Geneva Motor Show, and AN says that an FR-S convertible was driven on stage at a recent national Toyota dealer meeting in Atlanta. There has still been no definitive word one way or another as to whether the droptop model will be built, but it could be a good way to follow up to the popular FR-S coupe. Another possible future product is a subcompact crossover, which was shown in drawing form at the meeting, presumably aimed at small CUVs like the Nissan Juke and the upcoming Honda CUV based on the Fit, a model recently previewed by the automaker's Urban SUV concept.

Toyota's Texas move could boost state's economy by $7.2B in 10 years

Thu, 15 May 2014

They say everything is bigger in Texas, and apparently that includes the Toyota's effect on the economy. The giant Japanese automaker's new headquarters in Plano, TX, will add an estimated $7.2 billion to the state over the next 10 years, according to a new study commissioned by the city and cited by Bloomberg.
The benefits appear to be an absolute steal compared to the direct incentives that Plano and the state are giving Toyota. The report finds that by the time the automaker's campus is complete in 2018, it could have 3,650 full-time workers there at an average salary of $104,000. The city has prepared $6.75 million in grants, plus property tax discounts, according to Bloomberg. In addition to that, the state is offering the business $40 million in incentives from its Texas Enterprise Fund. This is still a fraction of what Toyota is estimated to bring in.
Toyota announced in April that it would move its US operations to Plano after being headquartered in California since 1957. The move affects thousands of employees from the sales and engineering divisions. The first workers will arrive there this fall, but Toyota will eventually have a whole campus in Plano by late 2017. The move is expected to save it huge amounts in taxation and offer employees a lower cost of living. Toyota North America CEO Jim Lentz also says that the Texas location puts the headquarters closer to more of the business' factories in the south. Texas certainly appears to be showing it some southern hospitality.

Toyota, Ford decide to end hybrid collaboration before it starts

Tue, 23 Jul 2013

Not all so-called Memorandum of Understanding pacts end in actual collaborations. For instance, after a two-year "feasibility study," Toyota and Ford have just announced that they will not be developing hybrid systems for use in light trucks and SUVs as previously planned, and the two automakers will instead continue to develop their own hybrid technology independently.
The would-be collaboration was first announced in August of 2011, and would have seen a rear-wheel-drive hybrid platform that would "improve the efficiency of trucks and SUVs while still allowing them to be driven in the way customers expect," according to our initial post on the topic.
Keep in mind that this announcement isn't to say we shouldn't expect hybrid pickups and SUVs from the two automakers, but that they probably aren't coming very soon - Ford says it will have a system "before the end of this decade" and we haven't heard much from Toyota on the hybrid truck front since the 2008 A-BAT Concept (pictured above) - and that they will not share any components between them (and they never have, for what it's worth).
