I am selling my Calvary Blue 2013 FJ Cruiser Auto, 4WD, with what was called earlier Upgrade Pkg #2 with Subwoofer,
Backup Sensor, AC Inverter, Keyless Entry, Dash CompassTemp/Incline Meters, Skid Control. Also offroad options
include 4WD with A-TRAC, Rear Locking Differential, and Trailer Hitch.
Calvary Blue appears to be a slightly rare color and is a more mild blue than the blue seen on earlier FJs.
Other options are Roof Rack, Satellite XM Radio, Rear tire cover, Rear Backup Camera, Garage opener, and auto-dim
mirror.
In Addition, I have installed a front ARB Lift Kit with 885 coils and struts, Rear Toytec RCC 2.0 Springs (aprox
3.0" Lift in front and 2.5" in the rear), Rear Bilsten Shocks, new Toyota Aluminum Wheels, New Tires (600 miles on
them), and a Toyota Alarm System. I also have a Toytec front diff drop kit which goes with it that you can install
later if you wish. The lift evens out the natural forward downward slope of the FJ.
Please consider these added options in your offer because the cost of these last eight options I installed was
$4000.
Purchase also includes the original 4 aluminum wheels and tires with approx. 19,000 miles on them. All these tires
are good.
I made sure the ride after lifting was smooth and soft similar to the original ride with more control. This is the
second FJ I have done this to. So it drives much better and rides very smooth.
It is ready for a future winch and front ARB bulbar etc. or you can leave it alone. It rides fine. The suspension
will handle a winch if you add it later without a change in the ride.
This is an Excellent Condition FJ Cruiser with only 19,762 miles, very low miles and it has been well taken care of
and garaged by myself. It is driven several times a week around town very lightly so the miles at purchase will be
slightly more.

Toyota sudden acceleration class action may cover 22 million owners

Thu, 16 May 2013

A total of 22.6 million current and former Toyota owners have been sent notices that they may be eligible to receive compensation from the automaker for damages related to the unintended acceleration fiasco that has dominated headlines in 2009 and 2010. The total payout may be as high as $1.63 billion, according to The Detroit News.
Steve Berman, a lawyer for the owners, calls the potential deal "a landmark, if not a record, settlement in automobile defects class action litigation in the United States." Still, there's some debate about whether or not Toyota's proposed settlement is fair, as it includes $30 million for safety research and driver education programs - in other words, Toyota seems to be suggesting that drivers need more education on how to drive their correctly working and fully functional vehicles. For those keeping track, Toyota would also be paying lawyer fees of $200 million.
A US District Judge in California is scheduled to hold a so-called "fairness hearing" on June 14 that could decide the fate of this particular settlement. Further courtroom wrangling will be required to hash out any wrongful death suits levied against Toyota stemming from unintended acceleration claims, as those are not part of this class-action suit.

Ford tumbles to second worst in Consumer Reports reliability survey, list dominated by Japanese [w/video]

Mon, 29 Oct 2012

It's no secret that MyFord Touch has had its share of problems since being introduced, but the most recent reliability survey from Consumer Reports shows just how much this infotainment system has affected Ford. Just two years ago, the automaker was in the top 10 for the institute's reliability rankings, but since then, it has tumbled to the second-lowest rung just above dead-last Jaguar. In addition to MyFord Touch, CR also attributes a handful of new products that have had issues right out of the gate.
Compiled from 1.2 million subscriber surveys, this year's auto reliability survey heavily favors Japanese automakers, with eight of the 10 spots hailing from Japan. Toyota brands grabbed the top three spots (Scion, Toyota and Lexus - in that order) with Mazda, Subaru, Honda and Acura filling the next four spots. The only non-Asian automaker cracking the top 10 was Audi at number eight.
Audi climbed a total of 18 spots from last year, and Cadillac and GMC round out this year's top gainers breaking into the top 15. Helping Cadillac's upward movement, the CTS Coupe was named the most reliable domestic car. Lincoln, Volvo and Chrysler join Ford on this year's biggest loser list.

Expedition drives from Russia to Canada over North Pole...

Tue, 21 May 2013

No, a Ford Expedition did not drive from Russia to Canada via the North Pole, but that's exactly what a team of intrepid explorers accomplished recently. Using specially-modified buses with massive tires, the group slowly drove 2,485 miles in 70 days over drifting ice, occasionally using a pickaxe to clear a path and staying on guard for chasms that could open up and plunge the team into the frigid arctic waters. Average speeds were about 6 mph, "at the speed of a (farm) tractor." While the big tires technically allowed the buses to float if the need arose, the team preferred to stay out of the water to keep the suspension from getting coated in thick, hard ice. Falling in on foot would mean almost certain death.
According to Phys.org, the buses were powered by Toyota diesel engines, but were built with prototype parts from a previous driving expedition to the North Pole. Right now, the machines are parked in a garage in Canada's Resolute Bay while the the team rests up with family back home. They plan to continue their trek to back across the Bering Straight to Russia. If successful, the team may eventually offer a version of their buses for commercial sale.
