Fruitport, Michigan, United States

Selling a 2006 Toyota Highlander Hybrid, mechanically the car has been running great and has been well maintained with synthetic oil and routine maintenance. Most of the miles were highway mileage. Please keep in mind however this is a higher mileage car so there is always some uncertainty in what can happen, however others routinely tell me that getting the vehicle to 250K+ is not unusual for a toyota. Please feel free to contact me if you want to inspect the vehicle and complete a test drive... email/text message works best.
Reserve is set at $5K.

Some other facts:
Front brakes replaced within last 2K miles, rear brakes within past 25K miles
Tires were purchased at 150K miles so I anticipate another 40K miles in tire life
Within past 30 days replaced radiator and rear wheel bearings ($2100 value)
Inverter was replaced within past 2 years as part of Toyota recall ($12,000 part replacement)
Battery life still appears good, Hybrid portion of vehicle has been running well
It's very possible this vehicle is worth much more than the selling price due to the all of the hybrid components within the vehicle.

No issues with running the vehicle.

Please note there are definitely some cosmetic issues both interior and exterior. For those willing to ignore/overlook some of the cosmetic issues you however can get a price well below typical market price. I have tried including pictures as much as possible. Exterior does have some minor rust spots where paint was scratched as well as some dings on front bumper and sides of car. Windshield has a pit which was repaired several years ago and has held up well. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

I have priced near/below blue book and edmunds which doesn't consider the value of the recent repairs and maintenance to the vehicle which should help the vehicle run well for a while.

Shipping is complete responsibility of the buyer.  I would prefer a local sale but I will make arrangements accordingly.  Payment accepted through any secure method include validated paypal accounts.  Please feel free to contact me with your email address if you would like a copy of the carfax report for this vehicle.

Toyota launches new Pixis Epoch kei car in Japan

Sat, 12 May 2012

Kei cars may be small in size, but they're big business in Japan. The latest arrival to the category is the little hatch you see above, the Toyota Pixis Epoch.
It's the fourth vehicle produced by the Daihatsu division but sold under the Toyota brand. As with other keis, power comes from a 660cc engine. It's mated to a continuously variable transmission driving either just the front wheels or all four. In both configurations, the Pixis Epoch features a stop-start system that helps its emissions and fuel efficiency figures come in well below even the Japanese government's stringent standards.
The whole package measures just 3,395 mm (133 inches) long, 1,475 mm (58 inches) wide and 1,500 mm (59 inches) tall, but offers a relatively spacious and utile interior, plus a tight turning radius of just 4.4 meters. Pricing ranges from 795,000 to 1.2 million yen - that's less than $10,000 (and no more than $15k). Further details in the press release after the jump.

Toyota casts off in Ponam-31 motor yacht [w/video]

Sun, 12 Oct 2014

Some Japanese automakers focus purely on cars, while others dabble in all sorts of motorized transportation. Honda, for example, makes everything from motorbikes to jet aircraft. But while Toyota may be known principally for automobiles, it also makes a line of boats. And this is the latest.
The new Toyota Ponam-31 motor yacht is built around an aluminum hull with a flybridge and cockpit rear deck layout, similar to the Carver 32 on which this writer spent his childhood summers. It measures 31 feet overall and is powered by a pair of 3.0-liter turbodiesel four-cylinder engines derived from the Land Cruiser Prado (known in these parts as the Lexus GX 460) but marinized for nautical application. Toyota has even equipped its new Sports Utility Cruiser with such features as Drive Assist and a Virtual Anchor System.
Toyota expects to sell around 15 units of the Ponam-31 through its network of 49 dealers across Japan, with prices starting at 29,700,000 yen (about $27,500 at today's conversion rates). Scroll down below for a video, along with a press release, meant to show potential customers what's waiting for them.

North American production of foreign marques to jump in 2014

Sun, 23 Dec 2012

Wards Auto has released its North American Light Vehicle Production Forecast for 2014, and the report predicts foreign manufacturers will increase production on the continent some 3.9 percent by 2014. If accurate, that should see 123,000 additional cars, trucks and vans produced in North America, swelling the total number of units produced both by domestic and foreign manufacturers to 16.9 million light vehicles from a projected 15.6 million in 2013. Much of the increase can be attributed to the fact that Toyota intends to produce another car at its Blue Springs, MS plant as well as a new Lexus model at its Georgetown, KY facility in a year's time.
Likewise, Volkswagen intends to move production of a currently imported model to its plant in Puebla, Mexico. Daimler, Honda, Nissan and Mazda also plan to build additional models on North American soil for the first time. Around two-thirds of the new North American manufacturing will take place in Mexico, helping the country soak up a full 20 percent of the content's automotive production for the first time. You can head over to the Wards Auto site for the full report.
