This is a right hand drive,Japanese import. The 80 series turbo diesel land tanks are truly amazing rigs. They are incredibly tough, versatile off road machines, yet really comfortable luxury vehicles. The diesels get good mileage and have gobs of torque, and will out last most of us to boot.

If you don't know about the reputation of these beasts, due some research,It is easy to get hooked on them,Name them and bring them into your family.
This one Is in good mechanical order, everything works including the elec.windows, sun roof, mirrors locks, cruise con.and A/C. She has new discs and rotors,5 new tires and all belts and fluids done. There are 197,000 kms on the rig. The paint ,namely the clearcoat is faded and peeling(normal on these rigs) and there is a small rust patch on the rear drivers side window ledge. The underside is great and undercoated. This is a great price for one of these rare diesel units So you snooze you loose.
I have spent the last 2 weeks with this rig,and I love it. I cruised on the freeway at 160 kmh for one and a half hours and it just purrs. The cruise control works fine. I took it into the hills and put the difflock on and in low it crawled up some nasty mud hills with no problems at all.The auto trans.seems fine and shifts smoothly, quietly and on time. The engine sounds good, starts instantly when cold, other than a bit of normal white smoke at start up,it runs clean. It does not appear to have been smoked in and the seats and carpets are in pretty good shape. The Car was imported from Japan 5 yrs ago and was owned my the same fellow untill 2 weeks ago.
Some deficiencies I have found are. 1 front inner axel seal appears leaky,A/C could use a can of cold juice, shocks could be replaced, exhaust piping is getting tired.a small patch of rust on rear drivers side window ledge,Paint is faded from the japanese acid rain, gas cap cover needs repair.
Over all It is a good example of one of the best 4x4s ever made, and you will be proud to call her yours.
If you are the successful bidder,I will require a 25% deposit within 72 hrs after the auction closes. Full payment within 1 week after the auction closes. you or your shipper will need to travel to sunny beautiful Campbell River B.C Canada to take possession of the vehicle, which is in good road worthy condition.   good luck
A note to U.S bidders,it can be tricky to reg these diesels in the u.s ,so check your state regs.

US-built Corollas will soon be exported to Latin America, Caribbean

Sun, 29 Sep 2013

Toyota has announced plans to export the American-made Corolla south, to 18 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean by 2014. The move follows statements made to The Wall Street Journal by Toyota's South American leader, Steve St. Angelo, that spoke to Toyota's resolve in emerging American markets.
Toyota is expected to begin export production in April, with initial production of 7,500 Corollas in the first year, courtesy of its Tupelo, Mississippi assembly plant. Years of unpredictable swings in the value of the Japanese yen has seen Toyota push its manufacturing operations in other countries, particularly the US, where its builds ten different models.

Ford predicts it will finish 2013 as top-selling US brand

Mon, 30 Dec 2013

Ford is ready to call the ball on its 2013 sales totals, predicting a first-place finish for units sold in the US for a single brand. The company anticipates selling more than 2.4 million vehicles when all vehicle sales over the last 12 months have been tallied, repeating the victory it trumpeted over Toyota last year.
According to Ford's accounting, it sold 329,677 more vehicles than did Toyota in 2012. This year, the Blue Oval expects that margin to grow; through the end of November, Ford says it has outsold Toyota by 396,041 units.
Retail sales of Ford products are projected to exceed 1.7 million units for 2013 (the best retail result in 6 years for the company), with passenger cars accounting for 600k of that total. The redesigned Fusion is expected to crest the 290k mark, and the Fiesta is said to be ready to hit a model-record of 70k-plus. Meanwhile, utility vehicles and trucks are still paying a lot of bills in Dearborn, with the new Escape racking up an expected 300k sales and F-Series trucks chugging along at 688,810 units sold thru November.

Toyota develops new pre-collision system with steering assist

Sun, 13 Oct 2013

A number of automakers are working on developing fully autonomous cars, but it looks like the groundwork for such technologies will likely show up first as semi-autonomous systems for both safety and convenience. Following recent announcements from Nissan and Ford in this area, Toyota has now released information for some of its advanced semi-autonomous technologies that could be offered in production cars over the next few years.
On the safety front, Toyota's new pre-collision system with pedestrian-avoidance steering assist is aimed at protecting the folks who aren't in the car. This system combines visual and audible alerts with automatic brake assist and automatic steering. If warnings don't get the driver to slow down, the brake assist kicks in if a collision is very likely, but if that is still not able to avoid the impending collision (and if there is enough room to do so), the car can automatically steer itself around the pedestrian. This sounds most beneficial for last-second dangers such as a person accidently stepping out into the road in front of a car. Toyota hopes to have this technology available to customers by 2015.
The Japanese automaker is also testing a suite of technologies called Automated Highway Driving Assist (AHDA). The key part of this is a new adaptive cruise control system that uses vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications rather than a radar-based system. This cooperative-adaptive cruise control allows vehicles to communicate their acceleration and deceleration data with other cars, which Toyota says this helps to improve fuel efficiency and traffic flow. Also a part of AHDA is the Lane Trace Control feature, which sounds like a next-gen lane keep assist. This system uses cameras, radar and a computer to keep the vehicle in a "smooth driving line" by being able to change steering angle, engine torque and braking force. Toyota says this technology could be in place by the "mid-2010s."
