1965 Toyota fj45 pickup truck/hotrod. The truck is the long bed cut to fit the short bed frame.  Built from the ground up with an LS1 engine and auto transmission from a 98 firebird, Toyota transfer case.  78 landcruiser axles with ft discs (added rear discs).  Full time locker rear, ARB air locker in the front (air plumbing for locker not completed yet), on-board air compressor and tank as well.  Spring over axle lift, hi-steer, running 37" military tires on re-centered hummer 12 bolt rims (true beadlocks with the rubber run-flat inserts).  Power steering (small leak keeps getting air in the system); and power brakes.  Warn winch up front, comfy seats inside, headrest speakers, stereo.  Sliding rear window (from Australia).  All body panels taken to bare metal, then PPG primer and paint and color matched SEM undercoating.  Some things not done, heater/AC installed but not wired or plumbed  (you can see the wiring hanging in the photos)d. 4whl hi-low linkage not installed.  Turn signals don't work. Warn winch, power inverter, all kinds of good stuff.

I listed this truck for a short auction a few weeks ago to sell before I moved from Seattle to Tucson... Since the short auction didn't allow enough time to answer everyone's questions, this time I am doing a long one.  I drove the truck from Seattle to Tucson, with a side trip through Yosemite on the way down.  2000 miles of driving prove its road worthiness.  No issues, flies up hills with the ls1 power.

And any questions, I will respond in email as soon as I can.

First 2014 Toyota Corolla commercial dances through time

Sat, 07 Sep 2013

Despite the fact that the Toyota Corolla pretty much sells itself, the eleventh-generation 2014 model is getting a huge marketing push that aims to appeal to both Millennials (of course), as well as the older generations that have lived with the stalwart Japanese compact for decades. The first television advertising spot, called, "Style Never Goes Out of Style," shows that the Corolla has had a place in mainstream culture since its launch in the 1960s. We have to admit, it's pretty cool to see older models from the '60s, '70s and '80s come out to play for this commercial, especially the latter of those, as it gives us enthusiasts fond memories of the infamous AE86.
The whole web/broadcast/print/social media marketing campaign surrounding the 2014 Corolla is called "Elevate," because, according to Toyota:
Extensive market research shows that Millennials are looking to take their career to the next level and are looking to buy their first 'real' car to get them there. The design of the all-new Corolla is significantly elevated from the previous generations, creating a more dynamic and desirable image for the Corolla nameplate that will appeal to these younger buyers.

Toyota reaches $1.2B unintended acceleration settlement in criminal probe

Wed, 19 Mar 2014

UPDATE: Just like that, Toyota has released an official statement confirming its $1.2-million dollar settlement with the US Attorney's Office. Our story has been updated to reflect this development and the automaker's official statement has been added below.
Toyota has reached a settlement over the criminal probe into its unintended acceleration problems, and the outcome is more expensive than first expected. The Japanese automaker has agreed to pay $1.2 billion to close the investigation among other settlement terms. The criminal inquiry focused on whether the company kept information from regulators and how it handled drivers' complaints about the problems, according to the sources.
Between 2009 and 2010, Toyota ended up recalling over 10 million vehicles worldwide over sudden acceleration fears. Fixes include modifying floor mats, gas pedals, and installing brake override software on affected models. In addition, Toyota made the latter standard on all of its new vehicles.

Couple survives 50-foot fall from overpass in Toyota

Tue, 11 Feb 2014

It doesn't matter the make or model - modern vehicles are technological miracles when it comes to occupant protection. Take this story out of New York City, which involved two people going for a very wild ride in a Toyota Matrix.
Carlos and Raquel Broadbelt were on the Cross Bronx Expressway overpass when they hit a patch of ice while dodging a pothole, sending them hurtling into a guardrail and over the side of the overpass. They fell 50 feet onto the road below. Despite the catastrophic accident - and the mangled Toyota - both driver and passenger walked away. The couple spent a night in the hospital just for observation.
The Broadbelts' miraculous survival has even surprised doctors, who told Dave Carlin from CBS New York they'd never seen an accident like it. Take a look below for the full news report from CBS New York.
