For sale is a 1972 FJ-55 Toyota Land Cruiser.

This Iron Pig has been stored inside for the past 12 years, and I just don't have the time to complete it.  It was a labor of love, but I got realistic, and I know I probably won't ever finish it.  That said, I have all the original parts and many duplicates from two parts trucks, a new custom-made roof, many new or rebuilt parts, and the original F-series engine has undergone a professional rebuild, while all the work done so far has been commensurate with a frame-off restoration.  The motor key-starts, but I haven't hooked up the fuel lines, so gas must come from a container.  The truck comes with absolutely all the parts, some new, and all original, to finish the job, all you need is time.  All the hard work has been done.  All new or rebuilt parts from Spectre Off-Road, Mark's Offroad, and the Body tub came from Rocksolid.

The truck is located in a warehouse in Las Vegas, New Mexico, 87701 in an industrial park off of Interstate 25.

3-speed transmission on the floor.

These are the main points of what comes with the truck:

It was a California body tub and frame

New custom-made roof with pressed ridges so that overtime the metal won't fatigue and oil-can like the originals

Absolutely rust free body

New shocks, Alcan springs, shackles, nuts and bolts

New brake drums and all new brake components

New body mounts and hardware

Brand-new brake and clutch cylinders

New fuel lines

Rebuilt, and unused since, motor, installed with new motor mounts.

Rebuilt carburetor by Mark's Offroad

All glass except for windshield, including a working motor to raise and lower the rear tail-gate window

Many extra and duplicate spare parts, such as multiples of doors, etc., which could be sold

Included inside the vehicle are all the original parts and pieces necessary to finish the restoration, bagged and labeled

Please contact me with any questions.

400-hp Toyota Hybrid-R Concept gets second teaser

Tue, 13 Aug 2013

Toyota has released a second teaser of its Hybrid-R Concept, along with an estimation of the show car's power output. Using technology that's "similar to that used by Toyota Racing's TS030 Hybrid race car," the concept is expected to deliver over 400 horsepower.
The press release also mentions that the new concept is based on a current production model. While it's difficult to tell from the sole teaser image of the car's body, rumors are flying that it's related to the Yaris. If that's the case, though, it's difficult to know what to make of this concept. The teaser image is quite dark, but we played around with the exposure and came up with an image that reveals more details about the new concept. Take a look at the related gallery, below, to see the high-exposure image. We'll find out for certain what the Hybrid-R is in a few weeks at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Let us know what you think Toyota's newest concept is in the comments.

Refreshed 2013 Toyota Landcruiser Prado gets official [w/video]

Fri, 30 Aug 2013

We'd seen leaked images of the the refreshed 2013 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, now Toyota has deemed it officially ready for the European masses it is aimed at. We can only hope the masses are ready for that grille, probably the most intense of the many changes made to the volcano-eating truck. The new face and its "powerfully projecting vertical bars" were designed to "accentuate the new Toyota's rugged appearance," as if the legendarily capable SUV wasn't rugged enough. Other changes include redesigned headlight clusters, stronger character lines along the sides, new taillights and license plate "garnish" in back, and a slew of new wheel choices. Both the three- and five-door are 20 millimeters longer, all of that in the front overhang, but the approach angle apparently hasn't changed.
The new organization of trims runs from Entry to Legend, Prestige and Executive. The interior has been reorganized with better seats in the second and third rows, a new upper center console, a redesigned panel for controlling on- and off-road driving functions, reworked Optitron meters with a 4.2-inch LCD screen, and new switchgear, fabrics and color schemes. Infotainment has been upgraded with Toyota Touch 2 and Toyota Touch 2 with Go. They mirror your smartphone if said phone happens to be either a Samsung Galaxy S3 or Galaxy Note 2.
On-road driving dynamics have been improve with suspension changes, and a Rear Cross Traffic Alert added to the suite of safety features for maneuvering the beast. When it comes to the Land Cruiser's real reason for being, the five Multi-terrain Select choices and five-step Crawl Control are more easily used with a Multi-terrain Monitor reworked for more clarity.

Minivan market not what it used to be, but margins make up for it

Thu, 05 Jun 2014

Residual values for last year's minivans are higher than they were in 2000.
Much like the station wagon was the shuttle of Baby Boomer generation, the minivan has been the primary means of transport for Generations X and Y. Just as the boomers abandoned the Country Squire, though, those kids that were toted around in Grand Caravans and Windstars are adults, and they certainly don't want to be seen in the cars their parents drove.
