1973 Fj-40 Fj40 Landcruiser Land Cruiser Toyota on 2040-cars
Mount Horeb, Wisconsin, United States
This is a very solid very dependable all original Landcruiser. I have owned it for 5 years and always kept it in the garage and took the best care I could for it. It can be a daily driver. The previous owner had it in a couple of car shows - but I do not have details. There are some rust spots but only on the surface - it has seen some rain in it's days. All seals around the doors are in excellent condition. All windows work. No chips in glass. Doors lock. Original keys and manual. I hate to let this go, but I have to get my garage back. No accidents and no bodywork that I know of - all solid metal and no dents.
It has only been in Wisconsin for 5 years and never driven in winter. Always kept in garage. Small patches (dime size) in a about 10 places. New paint about 10 years ago - starting to fade in some areas but professionally done. Runs strong and drives excellent. Does leak oil in 2 places around transmission but only little spots. No radio, but there is a place for one. Does not burn any oil. All original - no aftermarket anything. Rare near perfect solid FJ-40. All complete, nothing missing. Comes with original manual and jack. I bought it 5 years ago off ebay for over $10k and there were 3 bids competing with me until the end. I have put about 20k miles on it driving my kids around during the summer months. The odometer does not work - all other instrumentation does including wipers, interior light, heaters, vents, lighter, all exterior lights. I do not think the wiper washer fluid works, but all the parts are there. No emissions equiptment in this cruiser. See my terms for payment. Shipping by car carrier is around $600 in continential US and takes about 3 weeks. I will help with shipping (availible for the load) on my end but you must coordinate setting up with carrier. |

2015 Toyota Camry
Mon, 22 Sep 2014Every car has its definitive year. Whether it be the Chevrolet Corvette, the Ford Mustang, or yes, even the ubiquitous Toyota Camry, 10.2 million of which have been sold since 1983, every car has its year. For the Camry, that year was 1992. With son-of-Lexus styling, a clear sense of purpose and a parent company that had hit its stride as the purveyor of faultlessly reliable family transportation devices, the Camry got its legs in 1992. It's a car that even your mom is likely to remember, even if she never owned one herself.
The Camry you see here represents the closest Toyota has come to emulating the magic formula that made the 1992 model the stuff of legends. Compared to the 2014 model, some 2000 of the car's 6,000 parts are new, most of them involving things you can see or touch (on the outside, for example, only the roof carries over from 2014).
It's not a full redesign, but nevertheless it's a stunning development considering the predecessor upon which it's based only survived two model years. That's a testament to both the hyper-competitive nature of the family sedan segment and the lukewarm critical response that the outgoing car garnered. But that's in the past now - after driving this 2015 model, we suspect the new car's changes will be thorough enough to continue pulling in new customers by the hundreds of thousands each year for the foreseeable future.
Oh Buoy! Toyota sinks to Spongebob depths with custom Highlander
Mon, 15 Jul 2013The launch of the 2014 Toyota Highlander is being assisted by Bikini Bottom's number one resident, SpongeBob SquarePants. The new crossover has been wrapped with SpongeBob's square mug all over it as if he's saying "I'm ready. I'm ready. I'm ready. I'm ready," from every direction. Inside is a cabin that Toyota says "captures all of the beloved character's high-octane energy," but might make you question whether this is really the world you want to live in.
Revealed on SpongeBob Day at the San Diego Padres vs. San Francisco Giants baseball game in San Diego, CA on July 13, the Highlander will go from there to seven locations nationwide on a "Happy Driving Tour," ending at the LA Auto Show in November.
You can read all about it in the press release below, as well as ways to fill your life with more SpongeBob than is probably healthy.
Pickup sales may hit 2M units for first time since 2007
Sat, 21 Sep 2013Even as fuel prices creep back up, trucks are still a hot item among new-vehicle shoppers. To see how popular pickup trucks still are, you don't have to look any further than how much effort automakers put into the continual one-upmanship of their trucks. Backing this fact up, USA Today is reporting that the segment could top two million sales this year - a total not matched since 2007, though still far from the pre-recession, three-million-unit levels.
Through August, the Ford F-Series continues to be the segment leader with almost 500,000 units sold, but the Chevy Silverado (328,269), Ram 1500 (234,642), GMC Sierra (122,232) and Toyota Tacoma (110,293) are all seeing at least 20-percent sales increases, helping to account for around 1.44 million truck sales so far this year - not including possible outliers like the Suzuki Equator and Chevy Avalanche.
This year alone, General Motors has completely redesigned its fullsize trucks, Ram and Toyota have significantly updated their offerings, the next-gen Ford F-150 will be out next year and Nissan is promising an all-new Titan around the same time with an eventual Cummins diesel under the hood. It would seem, then, that truck sales are poised to continue their upward trend.
