1974 Toyota Landcruiser Fj40 Land Cruiser 6cyl 4 Speed Great Truck on 2040-cars

Year:1974 Mileage:90799
Location:

Im selling my 1974 Toyota Landcruiser fj40. its a great truck. I have owned it for about 7 months and it has been my daily driver the whole time. I am moving to brooklyn and well... it cant come.

It was restored by the previous owner about 10 years ago and after that he only drove it on nice sundays. It has the original drive train. inline 6cyl motor, 4 speed manual transmission, 4x4 transfercase. I just had the cylinder head completely rebuilt, brand new valves, seats, guides, springs. re-machined and cleaned. new head gasket and headbolts. fresh tune up. At the same time i had the carborator rebuilt. total just for parts and machining for this all was over $1200. Truck runs great. Has a slight exhaust leak. transmission shifts perfect. 4X4 works perfect. Truck does not have power steering.
Interior is in pretty good shape. Odometer doesnt work and cigerette lighter too. every other knob and gauge works. It has a brand new custom oak dask board with cupholders ( I needed those). It has jump seats in the back. To make it a better daily driver I Sound proofed the truck. in the front i installed cruiser crap sound deadener and in the back I installed FAT MAT. Before i did this I lined the whole floor with Grizzly grip roll on liner. When i re-installed the top after winter, I put new weatherstripping between the top and body. And also on top of the windshield and the windows.
The Truck has 32x11.50 x 15 tires
It has Manual locking hubs
It has an Optima red top battery.
It has a custom speaker box with a Cd player above the sunvisers. Very well made and sounds very good.
When the P/O restored it, He used CoolCruisers very thick replacement  panels and rear sill. The Body is very solid. There is rust spot forming. nothing to serious but could use attention. along the front fenders it is starting to bubble. The P/O had the hardtop shipped to him and the way they strapped it down rubbed the paint off in 2 spots on back. The back has a custom swing down tailgate. It is a different color then the rest of the vehicle. There is Scratches and dings so dont expect a perfect vehicle.
Im sure there is somethings I am forgetting to write. If you have an questions JUST ask!
If you would like to come and see the vehicle, contact me and we will arrange for it.

North American production of foreign marques to jump in 2014

Sun, 23 Dec 2012

Wards Auto has released its North American Light Vehicle Production Forecast for 2014, and the report predicts foreign manufacturers will increase production on the continent some 3.9 percent by 2014. If accurate, that should see 123,000 additional cars, trucks and vans produced in North America, swelling the total number of units produced both by domestic and foreign manufacturers to 16.9 million light vehicles from a projected 15.6 million in 2013. Much of the increase can be attributed to the fact that Toyota intends to produce another car at its Blue Springs, MS plant as well as a new Lexus model at its Georgetown, KY facility in a year's time.
Likewise, Volkswagen intends to move production of a currently imported model to its plant in Puebla, Mexico. Daimler, Honda, Nissan and Mazda also plan to build additional models on North American soil for the first time. Around two-thirds of the new North American manufacturing will take place in Mexico, helping the country soak up a full 20 percent of the content's automotive production for the first time. You can head over to the Wards Auto site for the full report.

NHTSA releases updated Takata airbag recalled cars list, but it still has errors

Wed, 22 Oct 2014

Unfortunately, the government's list still contains errors.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued an updated list of vehicle models that it's urging owners to repair under the mushrooming Takata airbag inflator recall. The latest version adds vehicles from new automakers like Subaru and Ford that are missing from the original announcement, and it also removes erroneous entries from General Motors, leaving only the 2005 Saab 9-2X (a reskinned Subaru WRX), and the 2003-2005 Pontiac Vibe, a joint project with Toyota.

Toyota launches new Passo hatchback in Japan [w/video]

Fri, 18 Apr 2014

With considerable manufacturing capacity here in the United States and even a NASCAR program, it'd be all too easy to categorize Toyota as an American automaker. Only it's not. It's Japanese, of course. And back in the Japanese Domestic Market, it offers a whole range of models we'll never see in North America. Models like the Crown sedan, Noah minivan and this, the new Passo hatchback.
Sold in various markets as the Daihatsu Boon, Daihatsu Sirion, Perodua Myvi and (for a time) the Subaru Justy, the Toyota Passo is a compact hatchback that slots in size-wise between the Yaris sold in America and the Aygo offered in Europe (except the Passo is taller than either).
Power comes from a 1.0-liter engine with 69 horsepower that can be had in front- or all-wheel drive, or a 1.3 driving 95 horses to the front wheels alone. A continuously variable transmission is on duty regardless of engine choice. Front-drive models get a stop/start system, but even all-wheel-drive versions are eligible for government tax credits. That's because, though the new Passo only appears to be mildly updated, the engines have been thoroughly reworked to deliver 30-percent better fuel economy than the previous model, coming in 20-percent better than the standards being enacted by the Japanese government for next year.
