I am selling a two owner ORIGINAL 1978 Toyota FJ40 that has the original 2F engine with 115k miles on her.  This FJ has spent its life in South Texas with only two owners that kept the fj in original condition.  It has a little rust in the usual places but overall it is in great condition.  The front seats are in good condition but the driver side could be redone.   The top looks in great condition and the tires Have about 70% tread.  The FJ drives great and starts right up on the first turn of the key. All the gauges work including the windshield wipers, gas gauge, temp gauge, oil gauge and speedometer/odometer.  This FJ has not been chopped up and is mostly original including the stock radio, seats, dash, rims, dome light and much more.   I have had a few FJs over the years and this is one of the cleaner ones out there.  If the FJ is left alone in original condition and not butchered up with a chevy or ford engine it will continue to rise in value.

I will help out with the shipping, but the buyer is responsible for the shipping cost.  I have used a lady named Mary with MotorMovers, and she is awesome and will keep you posted during the shipping process.  The FJ is being sold locally as well, so I have a right to end this auction at any time.  You are free to review the FJ before you bid as the FJ is being sold as is and does not come with any type of warranty.  The winning bidder is required to send  a $1,000. non-refundable deposit within 24 hours of close of auction and the remaining balance within 3 days.  Upon receiving deposit, I will send a copy of the Title and then the FJ will be ready for pick up after balance has been received.  I do NOT accept pay pal, so cash or wire transfer is preferred.

Toyota Matrix discontinued for 2014

Mon, 05 Aug 2013

Between its slow sales and the upcoming redesign of the closely related Corolla sedan, things haven't been looking good for the Toyota Matrix (for some time now). After 10 years on the market, Toyota has officially announced that it will drop the Matrix from its US lineup following the 2013 model year.
The announcement was made as a part of a press release breaking down what's new for Toyota in 2014, but for now, it doesn't look like any Toyota-branded product will fill the Matrix's spot. The Matrix and its sister car, the defunct Pontiac Vibe, were the final vehicles developed under the joint venture between Toyota and General Motors, an arrangement launched back to 1984.

Australia may offer money to keep Toyota making cars there

Tue, 04 Jun 2013

In the wake of last month's announcement that Ford will cease automotive and engine production in Australia after 2016, many are wondering what the country's other automakers will do. Holden has already confirmed it will stay the course despite Ford's exit.
Much of the GM subsidiary's reason for sticking around has to do with a deal made last year between Holden and the Australian government. In order to secure a GM investment of $1 billion and a commitment to keep manufacturing in Australia through 2022, the government threw in an extra $215 million. According to Australia's Minister for Innovation and Industry, Greg Combet, the government is now in talks with Toyota for a similar deal.
Toyota operates one plant in Australia, the Altona manufacturing and engine plant in Victoria. The facility produces the Camry, Camry Hybrid and Australasia-only Aurion for both the local market and export. The report from GoAuto indicates that negotiations with the Australian government would include adding production of a third, all-new model at Altona, possibly the new RAV4, because it shares many parts with the Camry.

Expedition drives from Russia to Canada over North Pole...

Tue, 21 May 2013

No, a Ford Expedition did not drive from Russia to Canada via the North Pole, but that's exactly what a team of intrepid explorers accomplished recently. Using specially-modified buses with massive tires, the group slowly drove 2,485 miles in 70 days over drifting ice, occasionally using a pickaxe to clear a path and staying on guard for chasms that could open up and plunge the team into the frigid arctic waters. Average speeds were about 6 mph, "at the speed of a (farm) tractor." While the big tires technically allowed the buses to float if the need arose, the team preferred to stay out of the water to keep the suspension from getting coated in thick, hard ice. Falling in on foot would mean almost certain death.
According to Phys.org, the buses were powered by Toyota diesel engines, but were built with prototype parts from a previous driving expedition to the North Pole. Right now, the machines are parked in a garage in Canada's Resolute Bay while the the team rests up with family back home. They plan to continue their trek to back across the Bering Straight to Russia. If successful, the team may eventually offer a version of their buses for commercial sale.
