1978 Toyota Fj45 Land Cruiser on 2040-cars

This is a very nice, original FJ45 that is daily driven with 178K on the clock. I searched long and hard to find this truck, and I sincerely hope somebody that truly appreciates them wins the auction. Mechanically, it needs nothing that I`m aware of and I drive it regularly, sometimes daily. I will say that at one point last month after driving in downtown traffic for almost an hour of stop and go, I think I felt the clutch slipping in 3rd gear. I have driven it more than a few times since then, but have not noticed it. I did order a new clutch (stock) from Cruiser Corps. and it will go with the truck. If you're familiar with these, you know how difficult it is to find a left hand drive late model truck like this in the US that isn't rusty. My best guess is that this truck was rust proofed at the dealer when new, because the frame and floors are in excellent shape. The body has a few places here and there, but as far as FJs go, this truck is nice and is definitely not a "rust case" and never has been. The engine is strong, transmission (4-speed) is great but if you're looking to go to the drag strip you might want to consider another vehicle. The steering is tight, brakes are great and everything works as it should (even the dome light) The BFG all terrains are in great shape, with far more than 50% tread life.

This will be my second time in ten years selling a vehicle on Ebay, so if my ad/format reads goofy, my apologies. I will gladly accommodate shipping to any location you choose (on your dime) I doubt any sensible person would want to drive much more than a few hundred miles in this tank, but schedule permitting I will pick you up or meet you at true airport here in Atlanta.

This FJ was imported originally from Canada, but has been registered here in the south for many years and has current tag and registration. In Ga. they don't need a title on anything older than 1986 and will be sold with a bill of sale. If your state requires a title, let me know and I'll do my best to work out getting one for you.

Toyota to enter modern turbo four-cylinder era with Lexus crossover

Tue, 25 Jun 2013

Toyota has sat quietly on the sidelines as many of its competitors have armed themselves in recent years with lower-displacement turbocharged four-cylinder engines in an effort to gain better fuel efficiency numbers and flatter power curves. It's a strategy largely shared by fellow countryman Honda, who turned away from offering forced-induction four-cylinder models in North America after its first-generation Acura RDX failed to find buyers. Toyota itself has no lack of experience with turbo fours, having built some humdingers for cars like the MR2 and Celica All-Trac back in the 80s and 90s. It's also offered factory-warranted turbos through its TRD performance parts division more recently.
Now, Automotive News is reporting that the world's largest automaker is finally poised to rejoin the turbo-four production-car fray in North America, but it won't be a sports car that delivers the first force-fed punch, it will be a new small crossover model for Lexus. We first showed you spy shots of the NX last week in mule form, and Automotive News says the small softroader will carry a 2.0-liter turbo four in its engine bay when it rolls on to world markets in 2014 or early 2015. That model, the NX 200t, will be joined by the NX 300h, a hybrid variant. It isn't immediately clear when US buyers will see the turbo model, however, it's possible that the hybrid could bow first - the story quotes an anonymous company source suggesting that Americans might not see the engine offering until sometime in 2015.
AN further posits that the new 2.0-liter will likely supplant the company's 2.5-liter V6 in the IS sedan and the same-displacement four-cylinder in the Toyota RAV4, but does not indicate where the new engine will be built.

Toyota C-HR hybrid crossover coupe concept leak ahead of Paris

Sun, 21 Sep 2014

Last week, Toyota previewed an upcoming concept called the C-HR and promised it would debut at the upcoming Paris Motor Show. It didn't say much more or give us anything beyond a silhouette and the shape of the lights, but here we have the first images of the finalized form.
The C-HR envisions a hybrid crossover coupe with angular styling that looks ready to take on the Nissan Juke. It's far sportier than a RAV4, and looks closer to how we'd imagine the next-generation Scion FR-S would look like if it were riding on a jacked-up suspension - with some show car elements thrown in for good measure, like a gloating roof, radical lighting and the usual absence of door handles and usable wing mirrors.
Of course, this being a Toyota concept, it packs a hybrid powertrain, although specifications did not leak out along with the images. Overall the form looks pretty striking, if decidedly unsubtle. We'll look forward to bringing you more as the Paris show rapidly approaches.

Lexus eschews production in China over quality concerns

Sat, 03 May 2014

One of the more popular trends in the auto industry is setting up production operations in China. Mainstream manufacturers like Ford, General Motors and Volkswagen have done it, and even luxury marques like Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz have or will soon have manufacturing ops in the People's Republic.
One company that isn't building cars in China, though, is Lexus. The Toyota-owned luxury brand still manufactures all of its vehicles in Japan (aside from a few RXs, which are built at a Toyota factory in Canada). According to Tokuo Fukuichi, Lexus just isn't ready to build cars there yet.
"The German Three have a brand image that they have cultivated over the past century in their long history, but Lexus is not in people's minds like that yet," Fukuichi-san told Reuters UK.
