Up for sale is my "would be" project that never will be, due to my wife's vehicle needing a new transmission:

1979 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser with a current WV inspection sticker till 2/2015 Currently not running but was running GREAT!!! just a few weeks ago with great power, no smoke, very smooth, stays cool as a cucumber. I cant seem to find out why it is not getting spark:/ it started missing and cutting out and then just died so i got new plugs/wires/coil....didnt fix it.... the only thing else would be the distributor.??...ground???... I dont have time to figure it out...my loss.

Description and condition:

Body: Ok, good bit of diamond plate that is in good condition, body panels have some rust but not bad, if you would restore this it would have to be completely sanded down and re worked.

Frame: RUSTY but very driveable...has a couple bad places that could be easily patched and made stronger.

Tub: Underneath is in bad shape, pretty rusty, mounts from the frame seem to be good but the tub is  deteriorating around the mounts/rubber is bad (looks like a easy fix if you just wanted a daily driver)

Engine: 67000 miles Original 2F, New oil/filter, Plugs, wires, coil Runs really good (when you get it started)

Transmission: Original 4 Speed that shifts great and does NOT fall out of 3rd gear like my 76 FJ did. does sometimes slightly grind going into 3rd but not bad at all.

Interior: Drivers seat is torn pretty bad, passengers is ok with some tearing, jump seats are really good shape with maybe some tearing at on the backs, Original "Toyota" rubber mat is in good shape. E-brake inoperable, rear heater is all connected and operational ( i was told...been too hot to test but seems all good), floor pans have been welded with heavy metal plate ugly but very functional, guages all work, all switches seem to work, except the washer fluid. The FJ even still has the utility light in the glovebox with the outlet plug...and it works!!!

Tires: Really good shape/all match

Electrical: Head lights, blinkers, hazards all work, Pioneer radio works but has no speakers (i did test it though)

4WD/drive train: All 4wd components work as they should, Rear diff is locked/welded.

All Glass is good!

Raising A White Flag To The Competition
We all benefit from highly competitive battles. In the automotive sector, few campaigns are so closely fought as the decades-long struggle for supremacy in the fullsize half-ton pickup truck segment. The Ford F-150 has dominated for ages, but Chevrolet, Ram and GMC have been closing the gap with freshly redesigned trucks that are rocking the industry.
Today's half-ton trucks are better than they've ever been, and we have fierce competition to thank for that.

Legal approach in $1.2 billion Toyota settlement could impact handling of GM recall cases

Wed, 26 Mar 2014

In the past, if an automaker did something wrong, they were usually prosecuted by the US government through something called the TREAD Act. Short for Transportation Recall Enhancement, Accountability and Documentation Act, it basically requires automakers to report recalls in other countries, along with any and all serious injuries or deaths, to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Failing to report or attempting to conceal anything when there's been a death or serious injury constitutes a criminal liability. The idea is that this setup puts the onus on manufacturers to keep NHTSA apprised of safety related issues before they become a problem in the US, thereby allowing the regulator to better protect consumers.
In theory, it sounds like a relatively airtight set of rules for dealing with misbehaving automakers. That didn't stop the US Department of Justice from ignoring TREAD in its prosecution of Toyota's handling of the unintended acceleration recall, though. The result of this new approach, which charged Toyota with wire fraud, was a $1.2 billion settlement. Now, the wire-fraud approach could be used for the expected case between the US government and General Motors, based on the statements of Attorney General Eric Holder, who specifically mentioned "similarly situated companies" when discussing Toyota.

Toyota GT86 CS-R3 rally car presages for-sale customer racecar

Thu, 31 Jul 2014

Rallying may enjoy a very strong association with all-wheel drive, but it wasn't so long ago that the World Rally Championship was populated by cars that slipped and slid across gravel and tarmac using rear-wheel drive. One of those was the Toyota Celica. While the little Celica eventually joined the gravel-spewing masses with an all-wheel-drive rally car, Toyota is returning to its rear-drive rally roots with a modified version of the critically acclaimed GT86.
Called the CS-R3, the new model boasts all the necessary changes to turn the diminutive twin of the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ into a car capable of tackling the tough, twisting paths that are so routinely conquered by the world's rally cars. That means, of course, the CS-R3 has gotten a power bump.
Expected output sits between 240 and 250 horsepower, thanks to a new racing exhaust and manifold, as well as other changes. The ECU has been replaced with an item a bit more suited to racing, while the compression ratio has also been adjusted to boost the output.
