This a classic 1984 Toyota Land Cruiser and if you're looking (which I'm glad you are) you already know how amazing these trucks are. Finding a truck on the east coast in this condition will be rare; as most are on the west coast which is how the body maintains rust free. I bought this car in 1998 in California as it's third owner. The truck was in amazing condition and it still is almost 30 years later. I relocated back to NY from Los Angeles and shipped my Land Cruiser in 2012 with plans to do a major renovation. This car has never been in an accident and has a clean title. I replaced the heating unit, re-conditionedt the radiator, brand new Firestone tires (with a 5 year warranty),  it's had a major tune up and was converted to sustain east coast winters. There is NO RUST on this car at all and it's ready for paint. All of the little dings have been removed, the truck is smooth, treated and ready to be painted. I was going to paint the truck a custom Range Rover color called Giverny Green, but thought it better to leave that up to the discretion of the buyer; since the original color is blue. I do have the custom paint if that's a color of interest. The one issue with the car is that the clutch is starting to slip. It is drivable, but the clutch will need replacing very soon. Cosmetically the interior is in good condition. The front drivers seat has a few tears which can be remedied by seat covers. There is also a crack on the top of the dash from the California heat; a small price you pay for no rust due to their year round sunny weather. Please feel free to ask me any questions as I'd be happy to get right back to you. It's at my mechanic in Syracuse NY who is a wonderful restoration specialist or you can bring your own. I'm selling because my family is growing and my dream truck has to take a back seat as I plan for all that's ahead. I will be sad to see this go, but I promise you... this truck has been well loved and maintained! Toyota's run forever!

Nissan, Toyota offering payment deferments to people affected by government shutdown

Tue, 15 Oct 2013

Two weeks into the budget-related government shutdown and it sounds like some progress is finally being made, but that doesn't really help furloughed government employees pay their bills. To help out a little, Nissan and Toyota are joining Hyundai with offering payment deferments to current owners and lessees.
In a release, a Nissan spokesperson said the company is "sympathetic to any of our customers who find themselves in difficult financial circumstances - many times outside of their control."
Both Japanese automakers are allowing payment extensions of up to 90 days without penalties or fees. Unlike the Hyundai Assurance Plan, though, it doesn't seem like the Nissan or Toyota assistance will be extended to those who are still in the buying process. Scroll down for press releases from both companies about their respective payment deferment programs.

Toyota raises Japanese base wages for first time since 2008

Fri, 14 Mar 2014

Toyota is on track for record profits, and in return, its Japanese workers are receiving their first increase in base wages since 2008, plus higher pay based on seniority and a larger bonus for 2014. The Japanese automaker predicts the average laborer will net a 2.9 percent income gain.
The average Toyota employee will earn 2,700 yen ($26.28) more each month, a 0.8 percent increase from last year. Workers will also receive about 7,300 yen ($71.09) more monthly based on seniority and promotions. Finally, the company's union pushed through a median bonus of 2.44 million yen ($23,768) for 2014, the highest in 6 years.
The pay boost comes as Toyota forecasts a record 1.9-trillion yen ($18.5 billion) profit for the fiscal year ending on March 31, according to Bloomberg. It has been helped by the Japanese government's efforts to weaken the yen on international markets and expand inflation. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has been asking businesses to increase compensation to end years of deflation and offset upcoming higher sales taxes. Honda and Nissan have also raised their wages there in recent months.

Toyota Sienna Swagger Wagon rides again with Busta Rhymes

Mon, 04 Aug 2014

Let's face it: there are few things less "gangsta" than a minivan (which goes a long way towards explaining why crossovers have been gradually taking their place as the family-hauler of choice across America, but we digress). The point here is not lost on Toyota, which has embraced the uncool image of the minivan with the Swagger Wagon campaign.
We first saw the suburban-goes-urban campaign pop up with the introduction of the new Sienna back in 2010. And now that the Sienna's been updated for 2015, the campaign is back again, featuring none other than Trevor Tahiem Smith, Jr. himself... better known to most as Busta Rhymes. The decidedly white-bread video spot that follows may make you cringe, but you've got to admit that it's well done, even if it doesn't have the charm and freshness of the original.
