1989 Toyota Land Cruiser

This is the vehicle I use for local outer banks beach trips as well as trips to the golf course.

Has some rust along the back of the passenger side roof line and gutter (see picture) as well as the bottom of the driver's side door (see picture).

Two years ago I personally attempted a repair of the driver's side roof line and gutter (see picture).  I cut out all of the rust in that area, treated the metal, built up the area with foam and epoxy, bondo and repainted.  The repair is good, but aesthetically it could be better...I'm not a body man and I spent two days on that project.

There is a small dent which has pierced the sheet metal approximately 1" long at bottom of driver's side cargo area (see picture).

The truck was repainted original color 10 years ago and some of the repaint is peeling in spots.

The air conditioner does not work and has not worked in about 10 years.  I have not attempted to diagnose the problem.

The vinyl portion of the driver's side seat is worn/torn (see picture).

The back passenger seat is coming apart along the vinyl/cloth seam in one area (see picture).

The cloth seats, cloth door panels, carpeting and headliner need a thorough cleaning.

There is a bleach stain on the rear passenger floor mat from hauling bleach for our swimming pool a couple of years ago.  The stain is on the original floor mat only and not on the carpeting.

I put new cloth in the cargo area last summer.

In the third picture, you can see some floor-saver furniture pads around the ignition switch.  I stuck these on to eliminate my keys from banging on the steering column which was annoying.  These are easily removed but my guess is you won't have them off for very long.

The engine AND transmission were both rebuilt at approximately 160,000 miles.

Approximately 70% of the tread on the Michelin MTX tires remain.

New CSF radiator professionally installed last fall.

New brakes professionally installed approximately 1,600 miles ago.

Full service including tire rotation done at Hardison's in Bayboro, NC on July 1st 2013.  Oil and filter change has about 20 miles on it.

I have always been very diligent in having the truck professionally serviced and tires rotated every 3,000 miles.

Original Owner's Manual is included.

One ignition key is included.

The Mag-Light depicted under the dash is included.

A couple of years ago I purchased KC lights and mounted them but that was where the installation ended.  I have the switch, wiring harness, and the two yellow KC light covers in the original box and they will be included.

In the pictures are an iPod, Belkin MP3 receiver, golf cart and golf shoes WHICH ARE NOT INCLUDED.

I have a clean, clear NC title in hand.

This truck has been perfect for what I have used it for.

The 4-wheel drive works perfectly.

The truck runs good and I would not hesitate to leave for a cross-country trip in it right now.

I'm a real estate agent and need something "slightly more luxurious" for clients.

If you have any questions or would like additional pictures of anything let me know through the "Contact the Seller" link.

Thank You,

Rod J

Toyota mini doc chronicles Tundra towing Space Shuttle Endeavor

Thu, 21 Mar 2013

Toyota has worked up a quick video detailing the brand's involvement in the transportation of the Space Shuttle Endeavour last year. As you may recollect, the California Science Center ran into a hitch when it came to moving Endeavour from LAX to its new home. While most of the route would be covered by a robotically controlled transporter, one portion of the route directed the shuttle over an interstate. Unfortunately, the bridge across wasn't designed to stand up to the weight of the shuttle and its motorized sled.
The Science Center would have to remove Endeavour from its transporter and place it on a lighter, non-motorized sled. That's where longtime Science Center sponsor Toyota came in. As it turns out, the automaker had to prove to the California Science Center that a Tundra could actually tow the massive shuttle, so engineers put on a little demonstration with a stock truck pulling the equivalent weight over flat ground for the same distance. Once the Science Center was satisfied that the Tundra could pull it off, the move was green lit and the rest is history. Check out the short documentary below for yourself.

Ford Fiesta ST in startling track battle against Toyota GT86

Wed, 26 Jun 2013

On the surface, there's very little that the Ford Fiesta ST and Toyota GT86 (or the Scion FR-S that is sold in the US, or the largely similar Subaru BRZ) share in common. One is a hatchback with power coming from a turbocharged engine routed to the front wheels. The other is a coupe with power coming from a naturally aspirated four-cylinder boxer engine routed to the rear wheels.
Thing is, both of them are reasonably priced performance cars aimed at a similar segment of the automotive marketplace, so a comparison isn't out of the question. It is with all of this in mind that we direct you to the video below, in which the blokes from Evo pit the two manic little machines against one another on a race track. The result? Well, it can be summed up this way: Fast versus fun.
See how the track battle goes down in the video below.

Lightweight Toyota GT86 spotted on Nordschleife with carbon panels, upgraded aero

Tue, 24 Jun 2014

We've seen (and frankly reported on) so many rumors of more powerful and performance-focused versions of the Subaru BRZ, Toyota GT86 and Scion FR-S at this point that haven't materialized that, at this point, we're almost tired of them. Almost. But what we have here was enough to pique our jaded interests as only a carbon-bodied sports car on the Nürburgring could do.
What we're looking at is, well, we don't quite know, to tell you the truth. What we can tell is that it's a Toyota GT86 (Scion FR-S for us) wearing new wheels and a carbon-fiber hood, roof, racing-spec rear wing and subtle lip spoiler. The vents in the hood indicate that the prototype in question could be packing an upgraded engine to go with the lighter body panels and upgraded aero, and the interior (at least as far as we can see) looks pretty well stripped out.
The right-hand drive configuration tells us this is either destined for former territories of the British Empire or for the racetrack. Considering the ride height, full glass and apparent lack of roll cage, our money's on this prototype is being developed for the Japanese Domestic Market, where Toyota badges the sports car simply as the 86. We can always hope, though, that some version makes it into Scion showrooms in North America... we just won't get our hopes up too high.
