Up for sale is a highly desirable 100 series Toyota Landcruiser in excellent condition.  I am a Landcruiser enthusiast and collector in the Dallas area and I purchased this vehicle from the previous owner who was an engineer in the Houston area.  This vehicle has been meticulously maintained by Toyota dealerships throughout it's life and only has 140,000 miles.  The UZJ100 series has the powerful 320 hp V8 motor that has been tried and true on the highway as well as the trail.  It is not uncommon for these vehicles to go well over 300,000 miles with no trouble.  The leather interior is flawless; there are no rips or tears anywhere.  It runs and drives as you would expect from a vehicle of this caliber.  The timing belt and water pump were both dealer serviced at 114,000 miles and the tires are new Yokohama Geolander with only 10,000 miles on them.  Steering and braking system are excellent and all power windows and wipers function perfectly.  This vehicle comes with interior comfort features such as third row seats, rear drop down DVD entertainment, and heated front seats.  For off-roading it has the desirable rear differential locker.  The exterior and paint are in great condition and it has recently been waxed and buffed.  There are only very minor scratches on the hood from highway driving and a few small rash areas near the wheel wells.  All mechanics are in perfect working order and have been well-maintained.  The motorized antenna has been disabled and can only be operated manually; however, it does function properly.  I have the clear Texas title in hand.  Please don't hesitate to ask me any questions and good luck bidding!

Nissan, Toyota offering payment deferments to people affected by government shutdown

Tue, 15 Oct 2013

Two weeks into the budget-related government shutdown and it sounds like some progress is finally being made, but that doesn't really help furloughed government employees pay their bills. To help out a little, Nissan and Toyota are joining Hyundai with offering payment deferments to current owners and lessees.
In a release, a Nissan spokesperson said the company is "sympathetic to any of our customers who find themselves in difficult financial circumstances - many times outside of their control."
Both Japanese automakers are allowing payment extensions of up to 90 days without penalties or fees. Unlike the Hyundai Assurance Plan, though, it doesn't seem like the Nissan or Toyota assistance will be extended to those who are still in the buying process. Scroll down for press releases from both companies about their respective payment deferment programs.

Toyota moving US headquarters to Plano, Texas

Mon, 28 Apr 2014

It's official, Toyota is relocating its US operations to Plano, TX. And it won't be a symbolic 'all ranch and no cattle' gesture - the Japanese automaker, whose headquarters have been in California since 1957, has decided to base nearly all of its operations in the Lone Star State, including much of its engineering, finance and sales and marketing teams.
The move, which will see the establishment of a new headquarters campus in the Dallas suburb will not only affect employees at the company's current Torrance, CA Toyota Motor Sales USA campus, it will also touch the lives of thousands of employees at the company's other operations, including 1,000 workers at Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America in Erlanger, KY and some New York-based staff as well. The Toyota Technical Center in Ann Arbor, MI is not facing relocation, however, and it actually stands to gain responsibilities as Toyota overhauls its US org chart. Toyota says that its reorganization will affect about 4,000 employees in total.
According to Automotive News, while Toyota is adopting an "'everyone is invited' stance for the relocation," some attrition is expected from employees who aren't interested in relocating southward from the Golden State. For its part, the automaker is reportedly making expenses-paid visits to Plano available to full-time staffers and spouses to help them make the relocation decision, as well as a lump-sump payment if they decide to go through with the move.

Toyota settles first wrongful death suit related to unintended acceleration

Mon, 21 Jan 2013

Toyota's sales seem to have rebounded from the unintended acceleration issues from 2009 and 2010, but the automaker is far from done dealing with this situation. Following a settlement worth up to $1.4 billion for economic loss to affected vehicle owners, Toyota has settled rather than going to trial in a wrongful death lawsuit stemming from an accident in Utah in 2010 that left two passengers dead. This isn't the first case in which Toyota has settled, but it was the first among a consolidated group of cases being held in Santa Ana, CA.
According to The Detroit News, this case was scheduled to take place next month, and it was for a November 2010 incident in which Paul Van Alfen and Charlene James Lloyd were killed in a Camry when, based on findings by the Utah Highway Patrol, the accelerator got stuck causing the car to speed out of control and hit a wall; the terms of the settlement were not announced.
The article says that while Toyota will settle on some cases, it doesn't plan on settling on all of them as it still wants to be able to "defend [its] product at trial." This will probably be the case in suits claiming that software for the drive-by-wire accelerator was the cause of an accident in a Toyota or Lexus vehicle. The question of whether or not the electronic accelerator played any role in this problem has been a hot-button topic since the beginning. Toyota has issued recalls in the past to attempt to prevent unintended acceleration caused by trapped floor mats and faulty accelerator pedals, but it also says driver error was to blame in some instances.
