Unmolested '77 Fj40.  This vehicle is adult owned, and treated as such.  Everything that you have heard or read regarding their capabilities, is true.  A true tractor.  It has a full roll bar from the windshield to the back doors, with a new Best Top (tm) Safari top, not half top.  It has new American Products racing seats.  Has original Conn-fer (tm) rear bumper w/ receiver and wired for trailer.  Never towed anything, the receiver was for a cooler, bike and fuel can rack. Inside Conn-fer (tm) lockable storage cans under jump seats. Original, rare, Conn-fer 5'X5'X6" "porthole" rack.  It has been media blasted and powder coated. Brand new Kenwood stereo w/ Ipod, USB connections.  New amplifier and speakers tucked neatly away in the storage cans for security and to eliminate altering interior to accommodate.  New OEM window channels, and rebuilt operators.  Motor is the original six cylinder w/ 40,000 mi. Very strong, tight, no drips or leaks.  New DuraLife battery, alternator and starter.  200 miles on rebuilt Japanese Carb.  New license plate bracket in the rear, with new OEM grill and tub badges.  lots of stainless hardware (doors, window hinges, tire rack, hood latches0.  Con-fer rear shackles have been added to level the vehicle.  Four speed trans.  Has rear heater.  Exterior paint about a 9.6 out of ten.  Bottom line: extremely clean, street worthy, fun machine.  Has been garaged, and sits more than it shouyld.  Starts in a half turn virtually every time.  Did change out points for electronic ignition.

Gazoo heads to the N"urburgring with Lexus LFA Code X

Tue, 14 Jan 2014

You'd be forgiven for thinking just because the Lexus LFA has ended its production run (it's been over a year now) that Toyota would have ceased its development. You'd be forgiven, but Gazoo Racing is here to tell you you'd still be wrong.
One of Toyota's many works racing teams, Gazoo is returning to the 24-hour endurance race at the Nürburgring this year with a trio of entries. One is based on the Toyota GT86 (which we know as the Scion FR-S), and one is essentially the same LFA that it's entered in years past. But the third vehicle is dubbed Code X.
It's also based on the LFA, but its 4.8-liter V10 engine has been bored out to 5.3 liters, raising its output to untold levels. It's got a full carbon-fiber chassis and a range of other enhancements that Gazoo isn't telling us about just yet, but they should turn the LFA Code X from a road-going supercar beyond a racecar and into a rolling research lab. Considering that Gazoo has been racing at the 'Ring since 2007 and fielding versions of the LFA there since 2008, it'll be interesting to see how the Code X version fares.

Camatte concept puts the Toy back in Toyota [w/videos]

Mon, 16 Jun 2014

It's been two years since Toyota first revealed its Camatte show car at the Tokyo Toy Show. Though sadly never destined for production, Toyota brought the concept back the following year as the Camatte 57s roadster, and is now returning to the same show with yet another take on the kid-friendly, configurable 1+2 with interchangeable body panels - this time with a slew of features that are fresh not only to the concept itself, but to the industry altogether.
This year the Camatte is being showcased in two forms: a bare chassis in the Tech Lab that lets kids see the inner workings of a modern automobile, and another in the Design Lab that lets kids draw their own motif for the concept that is then displayed on an LED hood.
The overall approach reminds us of the way Toyota's budget brand Daihatsu unveiled the Kopen roadster concept at the Tokyo Motor Show late last year, only even more kid-focused and decidedly more light-hearted than you might otherwise expect from one of the largest industrial giants in the world, and could only have been made for a toy exposition. In Japan. Which would explain the ridiculously upbeat videos below, where you'll also find the brief press release.

Toyota i-Road is no less strange in the flesh

Tue, 05 Mar 2013

We've seen plenty of three-wheeled creations in our day, but none quite like the Toyota i-Road Concept. The "personal mobility vehicle" offers seating for two with driver and passenger positioned in a tandem position. While that may sound more like a motorcycle than a car, the closed cockpit means riders don't need a helmet. The design also takes a page from the 2008 Peugeot HyMotion3 Concept with an articulating front suspension that allows the driver to lean through corners thanks to "Active Lean" self-balancing technology. Unlike the funky Pug, however, the i-Road is a fully electric plug-in vehicle.
While there are just five-horsepower on hand from an electric motor, the i-Road should serve up a range of around 30 miles thanks to its lithium-ion battery, and Toyota claims the cells can be topped off in three hours with a "conventional domestic power supply." Sounds majestic. Take in the full press release below.
