Truck isn't getting used as much as it should. I've owned if for 1 year and only put 220 miles on it. Over the last year I've replaced the water pump and coil.

F.5 motor fires within one revolution, idles very smoothly, and pulls hard through all three gears to a cruising speed of 55mph all day long. factory drums all round will easily lock the tires if need be.

The previous owner put a 73' F.5 drivetrain in, pulled from a running truck. Its been ultra reliable and pulls really well. There is a slight weep from the rear main as well as the P-Brake. I've got an additional 3SP tranny / 3SP Tcase as well as an additional F.5 mated to the legendary SM420 and a 3SP Tcase that goes with it. Also included: spare front and rear driveshafts, stock suspension, and two tubs of spare parts i've been collecting.

This is not a show car. The paint is Krylon Camo Flat Khaki, its super durable and if you get a scratch on the trail you just spray it on. The frame, axles, 3rds, and steering components have been coated in POR-15 and look great.

Everything works, Tcase shifts well, and tranny is surprisingly quiet at speed. The factory front seats are faded with expected tears here and there and a burn in the passenger seat where the PO left his work light on. AUX power receptacle in the glove box works well. It has long jump seats in the rear.

The previous owner did the following work to it before he sold it to me
New Rough Country 4" full suspension lift

Toyota GT86 14R-60 shows how to do lightweight at a steep price

Sat, 11 Oct 2014

Toyota is finally making good on its Griffon concept from last year with this limited-edition 14R-60 that basically hops through the Toyota Racing Development catalog to imagine the ultimate lightweight GT86 (the continental relative to the Scion FR-S/Subaru BR-Z). Unfortunately, it's not coming stateside, and even if this modded Toyobaru were coming here, you might not want to pay the rather steep price.
Like the concept, the 2.0-liter boxer engine still makes the same 197 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque. However, the drivetrain isn't entirely untouched thanks to a new air filter, engine oil cooler, a reinforced clutch, lightweight flywheel, and mechanical limited-slip differential from TRD. The six-speed transmission is also tweaked, with different gearing in first and second and an altered final drive ratio.
To keep things planted the suspension gets a new coilovers, a V-shaped tower brace in the front and another in the rear. Improved deceleration comes thanks to upgraded brakes. There also are even more goodies on the outside, including a complete body kit that includes a carbon-fiber roof and massive rear spoiler. The stock wheels are replaced with 18-inch forged magnesium units, as well.

Tier 1 suppliers call GM the worst OEM to work with

Mon, 12 May 2014

Among automakers with a big US presence, General Motors is the worst to work for, according to a new survey from Tier 1 automotive suppliers, conducted by Planning Perspectives, Inc.
The Detroit-based manufacturer, which has been under fire following the ignition switch recall and its accompanying scandal, finished behind six other automakers with big US manufacturing operations. Suppliers had issues with trust and communications, as well as intellectual property protection. GM was also the least likely to allow suppliers to raise their prices in the face of unexpected increases in material cost, all of which contributed to 55 percent of suppliers saying their relationship with GM was "poor to very poor."
GM's cross-town competitors didn't fare much better. Chrysler finished in fifth place, ahead of GM and behind Dearborn-based Ford, which was passed for third place this year by Nissan. Toyota took the top marks, while Honda captured second place.

Toyota Avalon celebrates 20 years with Touring Sport Edition

Mon, 27 Oct 2014

The Toyota Avalon may not have the sportiest image on the market. Heck, it doesn't even have the sportiest image in the Toyota lineup. But the Japanese automaker is out to fix that perception, at least a little bit, with the launch of the new Touring Sport Edition.
Announced together with some minor updates to the entire Avalon line - consisting primarily of enhanced safety and infotainment systems - the Avalon XLE Touring Sport Edition celebrates the 20th anniversary of Toyota's large sedan line. Setting this special edition apart are a black paintjob, HID headlights, LED daytime running lights, 18-inch alloys (similar in design to those on the Scion FR-S) and an interior decked out with perforated leather with dark blue trim... plus, of course, the requisite special badges inside and out.
Only 2,500 units will be offered with a $37,170 sticker price that puts it near (if not quite at) the top of the Avalon range that's capped by the $41,700 Avalon Hybrid Limited. Pricing has increased on most models by around two percent, and you can scope out all the details of the updates to the full range in the press releases below.
