The car runs excellent and we have taken very good care of it over the years with maintenance. There are several exterior cosmetic issues
- A ding on the rear bumper where I backed into a sign
- A ding on the rear fender where we ran into the garage (we really DON'T suck at driving)
- We hit a dog and the front bumper and left fender was damaged. There was no issue with the alignment or undercarriage or steering. We filed an insurance claim on this and it was repaired by a local body shop. However, the little clips they used are kind of sketchy. We'll bring it back to the shop this week and see if they can repair the repairs.
- We've been meticulous with oil changes over the years.
- I swapped out the 18" wheels with 16" wheels. The 18" wheels were so expensive to purchase tires for so I made the swap and no longer have the old wheels. You'll be happy when you buy your first set of tires.
- Speaking of tires, we have two brand new tires and two fairly new tires. The brand new ones are due to an unfortunate attempt to enter a driveway going the wrong direction.
- Other than that, there are normal little scratches, scuffs and small dents on the car, but nothing huge or out of the ordinary for a 5 year old car.
The interior is in excellent condition except:
- The knob for the fan got bumped and is now all loose in the socket. Still works fine, but kind of jiggles about.
- One floor mat is stained, but the rest don't have any really visible spots except normal wear and tear. Luckily the interior's black.
That's all I can think of at the moment, but feel free to contact me with any specific questions.

2014 Toyota 4Runner priced at $32,820*
Wed, 04 Sep 2013Toyota has announced pricing on its facelifted 2014 4Runner. The rough-and-tumble SUV will be available in three grades: base SR5, upmarket Limited and off-road-ready Trail. Depending on the trim level, buyers will have the choice of rear-drive or one of two different four-wheel drive systems. The sole engine is Toyota's 4.0-liter, 270-horsepower V6.
Entry-level buyers can get an SR5 for $32,820. That includes 17-inch wheels, fabric seats and Toyota's Entune infotainment system. Adding four-wheel drive bumps the price by $2,920, while the Premium Package (SofTex faux leather seats, navigation, sunroof, auto-dimming mirrors and power passenger seat) adds $1,875. All model prices listed do not include $860 for destination and tax.
The Trail starts at $35,725, while the Trail Premium bumps the price to $38,645, adding the same suite of equipment found on the SR5. While it boasts the same standard equipment as the SR5, the Trail is better suited for going off road. A multi-terrain response system comes standard, as does hill-start assist and Toyota's Crawl Control. For an extra sum, buyers can opt for the Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System, which automatically disconnects the sway bars for better articulation and trail holding.
Toyota asking NHTSA for fuel cell car safety exemption regarding electric shocks
Mon, 30 Jun 2014Toyota is requesting an exemption from federal safety regulations that govern electric cars as it prepares to launch a small-scale hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle fleet.
The Japanese automaker is targeting Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 305, which covers the packaging of high-voltage parts in electric cars. According to Uncle Sam, these systems need to be isolated so that passengers and first responders aren't electrocuted in the event of a crash. That seems pretty smart, but it's become a problem for Toyota's upcoming production fuel cell vehicle, as the mechanism that prevents electric shocks in low-speed crashes will apparently simply keep Toyota's car from even functioning.
Instead of the federally approved system, Bloomberg reports that Toyota plans to insulate the high-voltage wires and cables in the car, along with shielding electrical components like the fuel cells, electric motor and batteries with (presumably non-conductive) metal barriers.
Toyota confirms 2014 Highlander is in a New York state of mind
Wed, 13 Mar 2013Toyota has confirmed that it will be showing off the all-new 2014 Highlander at the New York Auto Show later this month. It's been a while since we've heard about the updated Highlander, but given just how long this thing has been on the market, we certainly hope that the list of changes will be more extensive than the new 2014 Toyota Tundra that debuted in Chicago last month.
Currently, the Highlander is offered in both naturally aspirated and hybrid versions, with front- and all-wheel drive. We don't expect the formula to change too much, since sales of the Japanese CUV are still steady - well in line with newer players in the segment like the Ford Explorer, Nissan Pathfinder and GM's Lambda triplets (Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave).
We'll have the full skinny on the new Highlander in the coming weeks. For now, scroll down to read Toyota's incredibly brief press blast.
