1999 Toyota Solara Se Coupe 2-door 3.0l on 2040-cars
Westville, Indiana, United States
Selling my white 1999 Toyota Solara. I am moving to New York and will no longer need a car so, sadly, I have to sell this one.
Bought 2 years ago in Northwest Indiana from a dealership. 190,000 miles Asking $3,500 or best offer The good: -Brakes were replaced in 2013 -New Wheels! (Spring 2014) -Super clean, I took good care of this car -Smooth drive -Non-smoker Lets be honest: -There are a few small dinks and rust spots that have just appeared this past spring (you can see it all in the photos) -The check engine light has been on since I bought the car. I've had multiple mechanics check it out and everyone has said that the engine is okay, it's just annoying to look at. -The AC is not working, but fixable. -It was minorly hit almost 2 years ago on the driver rear side. No major damage done, and they did a great job fixing it back up. I prefer to handle payment transactions in person, but may make an exception. Please email me to set up payment. |

J.D. Power: Vehicle dependability at all-time high, Lexus and Porsche lead
Wed, 13 Feb 2013
Each year, J.D. Power and Associates surveys original owners of three-year-old vehicles to find out what kinds of problems they have had experienced over the last 12 months, and then it uses this data to create its annual Vehicle Dependability Study. This means that the models in the 2013 study are 2010 model year vehicles, and J.D. Power rates each make as well as the top individual models based on how many problems were experienced per 100 vehicles (PP100).
Debunking the idea that carryover models are more dependable than new or updated models, the 2013 study found that the average carryover model experienced 133 PP100, while all-new or redesigned vehicles for the 2010 model year had 116 PP100; vehicles that received minor changes fared the best with just 111 PP100. The overall average for all makes was 126 PP100, which is the lowest figure since the findings were first issued in 1989.
Eiji Toyoda dead at 100
Tue, 17 Sep 2013Toyota has had number of chiefs over its 76-year history, but none ever served as long as Eiji Toyoda. The younger cousin of the company's founder served as president of the automaker from 1967 to 1982 and as chairman of the Toyota Motor Corporation for another ten years following the unification of the manufacturing and sales divisions.
During his 25 years at the helm, Eiji Toyoda (pictured above in 1967) was credited with establishing the company's headquarters in Toyota City, spearheading the development of the Prius, expanding production overseas for the first time, launching the Lexus brand and turning Toyota from a minor player into one of the largest automakers in the world.
Even after his retirement in 1992, he remained an honorary chairman and close advisor to his successors, and chaired the company's museum. He died of heart failure, ending a 100-year life that started on September 12, 1913, before the company that bore his family's name (albeit slightly modified) had even started building automatic looms, let alone automobiles. We extend our condolences to the Toyoda family and our congratulations on an accomplished life.
Toyota announces two recalls affecting 1M Corolla, Matrix and Lexus IS models
Wed, 30 Jan 2013The recall bug strikes Toyota again. The automaker has issued a voluntary recall of three models that, in total, represent more than one million units. Around 752,000 2003-2004 Toyota Corolla and Matrix models are being recalled for airbag concerns, while a windshield wiper issue is causing the recall for close to 270,000 Lexus IS sedans from the 2006-2012 model years.
Completely unrelated to the small airbag-related recall issued earlier in the week, the Corolla and Matrix recall is caused by a faulty airbag control module that could potentially short circuit, which could lead to the front airbags or seat belt pretensioners deploying. The Lexus recall is due to a wiper arm nut that wasn't tightened properly, which can cause the wipers to not work when trying to clear heavy buildup such as snow.
