This is our 2006 Toyota Solara that we bought new. It has 80,898 actual miles. We are non smokers and no one has ever smoked in this car. We have always kept the car in the garage and the paint is in great shape. This one great car for gas mileage, around 33 to 35 mpg on the highway. This car has nearly all the options that were offered at that time except for leather seats and sun roof and includes both of the remote door locking and unlocking fobs The options include rear spoiler, automatic transmission, power windows - one touch up and down on the drivers side, power door locks, power driver seat, am/fm/cd, auto dimming rear view mirror, auto on/off headlights, daytime running lights, fog lights, driver, passenger and side air bags, very cold ac, tilt steering wheel, cruise control, delay wipers, steering wheel controls for the radio and trip computer (includes gas mileage, distance traveled and how far you can go before refueling) outside temperature indicator and compass. We have serviced this car regularly and everything works perfectly. We have Michelin tires that are in great shape with lots of miles left. There are a few scuffs and small scratches on the exterior from normal use that are not very noticeable. With the exception of a couple of very small spots the interior is very clean and not worn at all. We love this car and the only reason we are selling it is that we need a 4 door car for grandkids. Honda may recall up to 1M vehicles for airbag issue, following Toyota's lead
Mon, 16 Jun 2014It seems Toyota won't be the only one recalling the faulty Takata airbag inflators for long. Honda insiders in Japan claim that the company is getting close to announcing its own worldwide campaign that would begin before the end of June.
Unnamed sources close to Honda in Japan tell Automotive News that the company is pursuing an internal investigation into possibly affected models and is working with Takata to gather more information. They claim that it could involve even more than the 1.14 million cars worldwide that the automaker covered under the first recall for the problem in April 2013, including 561,000 vehicles in the US.
Toyota jumpstarted this process last week when it recalled over 2 million cars worldwide, including 844,277 in the US. Soon after, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration began a preliminary evaluation into the issue following six reported incidents, and started assembling data about potentially affected models from Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Chrysler. NHTSA also began investigating Takata itself.
Toyota must go to trial over unintended acceleration suits
Tue, 08 Oct 2013Toyota is surely readying its trial lawyers, as the Japanese giant is officially headed to court in a pair of cases relating to its unintended acceleration fiascos of 2009 and 2010.
In the first case, the United States Supreme Court has actually got involved in matters, ignoring an appeal from Toyota that attempted to use an arbitrator to settle its California lawsuits. The automaker will now go to trial to face owners of 2010 Prius models over an alleged defect with the anti-lock braking systems, which plaintiffs say made the cars more difficult to stop, according to Bloomberg.
The second trial is a bit more in depth, covering the case of Ida St. John, an 83-year-old from Georgia, that crashed her 2005 Camry in 2009. The accident is believed to have played a part in her death, although the suit, being filed by her grandson, doesn't actually place blame on Toyota for her death.
Toyota officially outsells GM, VW through first three quarters
Tue, 29 Oct 2013When it comes to global vehicle deliveries, the term "Big Three" doesn't apply to Ford, Chrysler and General Motors, but instead Toyota, GM and Volkswagen - in that order - through the third quarter of 2013. Toyota sold 7.41-million vehicles through the third quarter and is on track to deliver more vehicles this year than GM and VW, which sold 7.25-million and 7.03-million, respectively, through the same period, Bloomberg reports.
During the third quarter, from July to September, Toyota's 2.5-million deliveries helped to push it higher than its closest competitors this year. In that period, GM delivered 2.4-million vehicles while VW posted 2.33-million deliveries.
Part of the reason behind Toyota's and other Japanese automakers resurgence globally is the weakened yen, which can be attributed to policies made by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe since he took office in December 2012. Many refer to those monetary easing policies as 'Abenomics,' which has led some, such as Ford, to call Japan a currency manipulator and is a big reason why the US is lobbying to oppose Japan's entry into the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).
