THIS IS A 2001 TOYOTA TACOMA SR5 FOUR WHEEL DRIVE XTRA CAB PICKUP TRUCK WITH A BADLY RUSTED FRAME THAT WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED AND CAN NOT BE DRIVEN SAFELY UNTIL IT IS. THE FRAME ISSUE WAS A TOYOTA FACTORY RECALL BUT THE RECALL HAS EXPIRED AND TOYOTA WILL NOT REPLACE IT NOW. OTHER THAN THE FRAME PROBLEM THE TRUCK IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION AND RUNS AND DRIVES PERFECTLY AND NEEDS NOTHING WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE STEERING RACK THAT LEAKS AND WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED AND WILL COST AROUND $200.00. HAS THE 2.4 LITER 4 CYLINDER ENGINE THAT RUNS FLAWLESSLY WITH TONS OF POWER AND DOES NOT BURN A DROP OF OIL. ALSO FEATURES AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WITH OVERDRIVE, SHIFT ON THE FLY FOUR WHEEL DRIVE UNIT THAT WORKS PERFECT, AIR CONDITIONING, POWER WINDOWS, LOCKS, MIRRORS, BRAKES, STEERING, AM/FM STEREO WITH CD PLAYER, ALLOY WHEELS AND MANY OTHER OPTIONS THAT ARE TOO NUMEROUS TO LIST. JUST PASSED NEW JERSEY STATE TWO YEAR INSPECTION IN FEBRUARY. Toyota announces GT86 CS-R3 rally car
Mon, 11 Nov 2013Toyota Motorsport GmbH has developed cars for all manner of racing, up to and including Formula One and Le Mans. But it got its start back in 1979 in rally competition, winning four drivers' and three manufacturers' titles in the World Rally Championship. And now it's announced a new rally car.
Based on the Toyota GT86 (better known to us as the Scion FR-S), the CS-R3 rally car isn't built to contest the top tier of the WRC, but is being developed to conform to the lower R3 class. That means a six-speed sequential gearbox, limited slip differential and upgraded engine, brakes, aero... the works. It'll retain the road-going model's rear-drive setup, joining the front-drive Yaris R1A in TMG's portfolio of customer rally cars.
Further details are set to be revealed "in the coming months", but the GT86 CS-R3 will benefit from the experience TMG accrued in developing the GT86 CS-V3 (pictured above) for the Nürburgring-based VLN endurance racing series.
Toyota headed to New York with 2014 Highlander, revised Scion tC
Thu, 21 Mar 2013Toyota has given us a look at what the company will bring to the 2013 New York Auto Show. Visitors will get to set their eyes upon the all-new 2014 Highlander, and while the automaker isn't saying much in the way of details, we do get the teaser you see above (click to enlarge) to ponder on until next week. The image shows little more than a headlamp and a bit of grille, but gives us the flavor of what the crossover will bring to the table.
Scion, meanwhile, says it plans to dust off the "new 2014 tC sports coupe." While we don't imagine the two door will have undergone a major surgery, we're interested to see what the automaker has cooked up. The tC last endured a redesign in 2011. Honda may recall up to 1M vehicles for airbag issue, following Toyota's lead
Mon, 16 Jun 2014It seems Toyota won't be the only one recalling the faulty Takata airbag inflators for long. Honda insiders in Japan claim that the company is getting close to announcing its own worldwide campaign that would begin before the end of June.
Unnamed sources close to Honda in Japan tell Automotive News that the company is pursuing an internal investigation into possibly affected models and is working with Takata to gather more information. They claim that it could involve even more than the 1.14 million cars worldwide that the automaker covered under the first recall for the problem in April 2013, including 561,000 vehicles in the US.
Toyota jumpstarted this process last week when it recalled over 2 million cars worldwide, including 844,277 in the US. Soon after, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration began a preliminary evaluation into the issue following six reported incidents, and started assembling data about potentially affected models from Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Chrysler. NHTSA also began investigating Takata itself.
